  Anyone else see no. 6 Auburn’s close call with FCS Jacksonville State? Seeing that actually made me feel a little bit better about our close loss to SDSU.

  Not sure Briles loses his job because there are conflicting reports out of Boise State about what was and was not said when the transfer happened. Depending on what Briles knew and what he covered up, he may get fired, but Baylor suspended Ukwuachu once he got into trouble there, so Baylor did not cover up his deeds while in their program. But the thing is, here is Boise State’s statement about Ukwuachu . That’s from last week. Boise is saying they didn’t know about it, so Petersen saying he told Briles is inconsistent with what Boise says they even knew at the time Ukwuachu was dismissed. There is more truth to be uncovered out there, and that truth could cost lots of people at Baylor, Boise and maybe even Washington their jobs.

  Jake Heaps: Broke a LOT of frosh records at BYU, but then the offense gets changed, so he sits…and thus the transfer. Comes to KU for Weis’ pro-style offense, but as Dayne Crist found out the hard way: KU’s O-line and WR’s are simply unable to execute ANY type of effin’ offense. The same o-line and WR issues felled BOTH of KU’s former 5star overall #1 ranked QBs. Wrong place, wrong time. A very sad chapter in KU football, with simply not enough talent around Dayne and Jake to allow them to shine. Our football program FAILED them in their final shot. Thanks, Lew!

  @Crimsonorblue22 Sounds like a good thing. Although, they could put padding like some material like foam on the outside of the helmet right now and most likely reduce this problem at least 50%. I actually had a leather strip about 4" wide on my helmet in jr high. It kind of looked like a mohawk.

  "I think something special is about to happen at Kansas," he said. "The team just has to buy into the system. You can feel it. We have been to a lot of programs and I have to say Kansas will be getting another trip from us." This certainly is a good signal and bodes well for the program. I am not sure we have heard from top recruit…in football… this type of comment in as long as I can remember.

  @justanotherfan After reading your post I checked into the SWC history and learned Houston was Johnny come lately-joining them in the 70’s. I also think their own conference partners must have not valued them much during the next alignment as their were two groups formed, U of H was not part of either and went another direction by themselves. As for TCU, they were playing musical chairs time and time again. They are lucky to end up in the Big 12.

  This has nothing to do with KU recruiting but about a week or so ago I was listening to XM College Sports Nation and I want to say it was the Chris Childers show w/ Greg McElroy. Anyways they were talking about how bad the ranking system are. They said what the ranking system in football really breaks down to is this: 5star guys are NFL locks, guys that scouting services are pretty certain will be playing on Sundays. 4star guys are those that scouts think are All-Conference players. And the 3star guys are starters on the their team. 2star guys are 2deep, for depth. McElroy also said that just because a guy is a 3 star doesn’t mean they aren’t or can’t be great. He, Sam Bradford, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton were all 3 star guys in '06.

  @Careful-you said: @JayhawkRock78 You make a fair point. I am not trying to do a point by point comparison of KSU football to KU basketball for the last 100 years. And I also admit that KU basketball is considered royalty by the basketball world AND that 10 big 12 titles in a row is a monumental achievement. Still I would not turn away from a Bill Snyder clone if I was going to get a football team similar to the last 20 years at KSU, which I think was the point of the original post. And, if after 20 years of success, then the the program struggles (as we seem to think KSU will), well so be it. I’m still not turning down 20 good years. Sorry, I did not make myself clear. Bill Snyder walks on water. He is the perfect example of a Great man, great coach, true Christian and on and on. I love everything about him and I am no KSU homer. Still, Bill Snyder alone, or his success at KSU doesn’t hold a candle to the KU bBall program. History. I am jealous of what he did/has done at KSU.

  @nuleafjhawk Agreed. Coaches have their hands full with their own programs and have little time for any thing else other than the occasional appearance at a game or Athletic Department activities. At KU, most football coaches regularly attend basketball games (they want to know what winner looks like) but Coach Self will only occasionally attend a football game…can’t say I blame him.

  @jaybate-1.0 I wish Bob Frederick was still here. He was, in my opinion, probably the best A.D. we ever had/ever will have. He was wise, intelligent, innovative and a good, decent human being. RIP Bob. You are sorely missed.
