Sox/Royals rained out today. Will be made up as a 1PM and 7PM doubleheader of 2 7 inning games. I'm beyond pissed about this. It's such an affront to ticket paying fans who don't even get two shorter games for the price of 1. The fact it's my cheaper than dirt cheap favorite team doing it makes it even worse from my end. MLB is the worst league, plain and simple and this is more proof.
This seems like a slight overreaction. But I’m pro-shorten the game so...
Yeah I mean the 7 inning game is still 1 in the win column. It doesn't piss me off as much as it did when it was only theoretical. I enjoy watching the shortened games.
@approxinfinity Living 8 miles from GA, I am a big MLB fan at the moment.
I'm a traditional baseball person and will feel cheated out of 2 innings each game. Maybe if it was a normal DH, but not one in which they kick every one out. Then they should play nine innings. @Kcmatt7 There's lots of ways to shorten the games without, you know, shortening the games :)
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, and I still do. My line to Matt was shorten the games without shortening the games. In other words I still want 9 innings, just not 3 1/2 -4 hour games. Do you think MLB games should be 7 innings?
@approxinfinity I think Robot umps are coming but I know I'll say duh to myself, or maybe you will, but what's VR?
Video replay
Or review not sure
Replay is good, but it seems like it should go much quicker.
Great game today!
Bad! Today was really bad!
@Crimsonorblue22 where’s the downvote button?

@mayjay I dunno. I don't think it's fair to punish the concession workers at the park, etc. I think this whole thing misses the mark a little.
That being said, the Republicans trying to steal elections they can't win is despicable. Rotten to the core.
Here I was thinking about my old buckets friends...I see the lack of fun continues though as people can’t keep their politics out of a sports convo. Crazy that anyone would think a comment like this would further any conversation political or sports. And that’s the founder of the site!!! I was hoping after the election the crybaby political fanbois would maybe back off and allow a guy to enjoy sports again, but when surrounded by Karen’s on here I feel Lucy’d, keep it Brockmire. ✌️
@dylans you're the only crybaby I see here?
This was in context responding to @mayjay 's comment. Perhaps you're unaware of the current push of republican legislation to restrict voting rights in 40 states. The only faux pas here is that this comment belongs in the politics section. This can be asked for nicely instead of coming back to the board with a wild Haymaker.
Mea culpa for my reference to why I like MLB right now. My comment triggered 'prox's.
Kind of hard to talk about MLB as an institution in the baseball section without a reference to why the All Star Game was moved.

literally 23 days of your life spent watching ball
Holy Crap! Imagine how many hours in that total would be commercials!
And I suspect the total time of ball in play would be just a few hours.
The rest? Waiting and waiting, sometimes in thrilling suspense, and sometimes with nothing happening except watching them spit or scratch.
I love baseball, but I would probably swallow a grenade if I had to watch a team's every game!
@Kcmatt7 It's fine. In fact if it helps bring back fans to the game maybe it'll be a good thing! As a kid I sat down for 2 hour games, not 3 1/2. Maybe I'd have found them boring too if it was like that. Instead I was raised watching someone like Bill Buckner who never struck out more than 40 times in a season over 22 ML seasons! Today guys literally strike out 40 times in a month sometimes.
@wissox Well this is something I can definitely agree on... Analytics has changed the game away from what used to be known as "good" stats.
Hitting .300 is no longer really a stat that we care about. The Mendoza line has become meaningless if you can hit 50 HRs while you do it.
I do think they should work to get more balls in play, but I'm not sure how they do that without very big rule changes. Moving the mound back a few feet and deadening the ball could help. But I don't really have an answer.
