Anyone remember when Joaquin Andujar totally melted down in game 7 of the 85 series for the Cardinals over Ball--Strike calls? Sox teetering towards that.

Don't feel too bad, Carlos Rodon has given up 2 runs all season.

@wissox I don't. But I remember calling him "Walking Underwear" as a child.

I guess 8 runs in the first stifles hope for a competitive game. Royals should have started Bucic I guess.

Royals taking it to us this weekend

Royals went thru a brutal stretch. Pitching is a concern. Dozier is in a deep slump. Bullpen has been shaky.

If young guys can develop they will give Sox trouble, regardless Sox are primed to win AL C this year. They are the team to beat.

After brutal first half of May with 11 game losing streak, Royals are playing better lately, now 5 games back.

Still long ways to go but overall they are looking much better.

Even though there are several veterans on the team, Royals are so inconsistent. Dozier and Soler have been a major disappointment.

Singer does not seem to be the same pitcher as last year or hitters have scouted his tendencies.

I hope that Kowar, Singer, Bubic and Lynch can develop, future is dependent on these three guys.

Royals got shutout by Orioles at home, another 100 loss season is on the horizon.

I am now convinced that Royals are inept at developing pitchers. Its a pity. It is time for GM and supporting staff to go.

just heard on their network I think they said Singer going on DL. could be wrong but two pitchers they were talking about and I think both were hurt

Hope that Royals can get a few decent trade deals for Merrifield, Duffy and Minor.

With Duffy injury prone, I doubt there's any interest. Maybe someone offers something for Minor, but the Royals have never shown any interest in moving Merrifield, despite the fact that his age meant he was never really part of the rebuild - we think of him as a young player because he wasn't on the 2014-15 teams, but he debuted at 27 and is 32 now. He never fit the rebuild timeline and should have been traded two years ago, not because he isn't a good player, but precisely because he is and would have brought back some good players that fit the rebuild timeline.

@justanotherfan Rumors SF is interested in Duffy.

@AsadZ I’d sell everyone I could from the MLB roster. But Dayton is in LaLa land and thinks this team is close to competing.

Agree with @Kcmatt7 on this. The team is at least another year away after this season. They need Witt, Pratto, Mondesi, Dozier and at least another two bats, plus some of that young pitching to come through (Singer, Bubic, Lacy, Lynch, Bowlan, etc.). That's a big ask.

Better to move anyone other than those listed for guys that fit into either this wave or the next one because the team is not one guy away, or even two guys away. They are two starters and three bats away at a minimum. Perhaps those guys are internal, but if they aren't, Merrifield, Salvy, and anyone else over 30 isn't going to be helpful once this group is ready.

Wondering what you all think of Mike Matheny. I mean everyone makes mistakes, but he just walked Jose Abreu to pitch to Eloy Jimenez, playing his 2nd game of the season. Eloy made him pay, I think the ball is still in flight. Abreu been slumping badly, I would've pitched to him!

Every manager makes situational mistakes. He is not a high class manager but certainly an upgrade over Ned. My opinion.

@wissox Never, ever understood bring in a relief pitcher who then walks the first batter. Have the outgoing pitcher do it.

Mixed feelings here for me.

Sad to see him go but it makes sense from business standpoint and overall team considering the future.

@AsadZ Even though my team has benefited I kind of hate seeing all of these decent or very good players going to contenders.

That’s the unfortunate reality of this sport, difficult to compete small market teams unless you have a solid management, likes of Tampa and Oakland
