On ESPN 2 right now. This might get ugly early. Odicci Alexander is a bad ass that pitched a complete game win for JMU yesterday, but she is pitching again today and getting roughed up in the 2nd.
JMU is my alma mater. School I like vs school I don't.

Was surprised Alexander was pitching today after going 7 yesterday. Could have saved her for game 3. Is this unusual for softball?
Huh the VA Tech pitcher pitched 3 games in a row. I guess thats what they do.
They beat Mizzou best out of 3! Wooo. Odicci pitched all three games, 1 and 3 were complete games.

Unbelievable finish against OK St. In the 7th, up 2-1,Oddici Alexander got lead runner in pickle but 3rd baseman called for obstruction. 2nd and 3rd no outs. Gets a pop out, then fields a squeeze bunt and dove to tag the runner at home, cutting open her pitching elbow, and then getting the 3rd hitter to pop out on 3 pitches. Right now, Oddici is the coolest college player I may have ever seen.
JMU advances to a matchup with either UCLA or Alabama
First time an unranked team has won their first two games. Alexander scored the first run (she also is batting. 330) and Kate Gordon, who had gone 2-27 before hitting the the game winning homerun against OU, hit what proved to be the game winning HR for JMU's second run.

@mayjay haha thanks! I'm just amazed at how much fun it's been watching them. They have a levity and joy and focus bringing their all that is fantastic.
Next up they face a Bama team with a pitcher who pitches in the 70s and threw a perfect game last night against UCLA, I think the fifth ever in the WCWS.
This is going to be a tough tough game. Sunday at 1!
PS did you know that at the distance the plate is from the rubber, a 70 mph softball gets to the plate faster than a 100 mph fastball in baseball?

watched the JMU game last night in a Lawrence sports bar for a while. It was more interesting than the Royals-Twins game. Went to a bunch of college softball games at Tennessee when we lived in Knoxville (Monica Abbott era). FUN FUN FUN to watch, and I doubt I could hit 77 mph rising fastball. Reflexes know no gender boundaries. :zany_face:
