I'll admit I'd been taking him for granted lately. (Ho hum, another 30-and-10 game.) Tonight after a slow start, he came through in the clutch to hit that game-winning trey against the Raptors, on an off night for Harden. Now he's even got the TNT postgame crew shouting his praises and comparing him to Hakeem and Shaq. That's some rarified air. Going for the sweep on Saturday and a chance to rest up for the next round.

Apr 21, 2022 12:00 PM #3

WOW what can you say about our Boy. - Jo Jo just a beast how clutch was that and nothing but net - Awesome Jo Jo -ALWAYS A JAYHAWK

Apr 29, 2022 01:13 AM #4

Looks like Joel's thumb held up well enough tonight. 33 points and 10 boards as the Sixers blow out Toronto by 35 and move on to the next round. Harden stepped up too with 22 points and 15 assists.

Heard a bit of hyperbole about him by the NBA TV crew though..."You are looking at the evolution of the game of basketball."

Hmmm...Miami may have something to say about that.

Joel got hammered by an elbow to the face and is out indefinitely.

Ouch. 2nd orbital fracture of his career. Needs to stop sticking his face out, or something

Yet another injury, at the worst possible time. You have to wonder what Doc Rivers was thinking when he kept Embiid on the court that late in a blowout.

They were up 29 points with 4 minutes left. Dirty play, imo.

May 01, 2022 12:40 AM #9

It's all dirty! Embiid too.

He's back ! Sixers win by 20. Jo Jo with 18 points, 11 rebounds in his return. Harden got 17 and the other starters stepped up.

Cool mask. Willis Reed meets Zorro.

I was just getting ready to comment, just saw the hi lights - Jo Jo & the sixers cut it to a 2-1 lead for the heat. - Sixers had to have this game in Philly - -but by 20 ?- dam did a number , let's win the next one even this thing up

May 09, 2022 02:21 AM #13

Philly wins again. Series tied at 2 each.

Embiid looked good, but Harden was unconscious from three down the stretch for a total of 31.

A little Jayhawk-on-Jayhawk crime in this one...Markieff Morris came into the game for a few minutes in the 3rd quarter, his first appearance in over a month. He promptly got a Wilson sandwich when Jo Jo blocked him.

Next game in Miami Tuesday. Sixers still need an away win to take the series.

May 09, 2022 04:31 PM #14

Watched the game, was Awesome - Philly needed that - -Joe Joe strong 24 points - -but actually it was Harden that carried them last night- hit some HUGE shots late.

Joe Joe Monster in your face block against Markieff last night to former Jayhawks going at one another. - -Didn't realize there was so many former BIG 12 players in this playoff. - -Joe ,Joe - - Niang - - P J Tucker & another for Miami I think I counted those 4

Nov 14, 2022 02:23 AM #15

59/11/8 and 7 blocks on 19-28 in a win.

That is nonsense

Nov 14, 2022 01:01 PM #16

@KirkIsMyHinrich Outscored both teams in the 4th quarter! Embiid had 26, Utah 20, the rest of the 76ers had 1.

To follow up on your post - - Holy gee hossie fats. - -Following up here it is :

Jo , Jo becomes the 1st player to scorer at least 50 points -- 10 rebounds - -5 assts - -& 5 blocks since blocks became an official stat back in 1973-74
Jo , Jo becomes 1st player to score 20 points & 5 blocks in a single qtr in the last 25 seasons.

Jo , jo becomes the 1st player to outscore BOTH TEAMS by himself in the 4th qtr - - - 26-21 since Trcy McGrady in 2006.
Jo, Jo becomes the 4th player along with Kobe Bryant , Micheal Jordan , & Bradley Beal to score 100 points or more in back to back games since the NBA & ABA merger and become the 1st Center since Wilt Chamberlain in 1967

Mercy could you imagine if only Jo .Jo wouldn't of had injury when he was at KU in the tourney > - -He Scores Believe it said he scored 42 Saturday Night and then 59 last night - - that's our boy. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Nov 14, 2022 10:02 PM #18

Amazing stats by JoJo.

Funny how when someone has a near-record-breaking game, they'll always say "he had the best night ever...since Wilt."

Nov 15, 2022 06:39 PM #19

@nwhawkfan Not sure anyone will ever dominate the game the way he did.

Nov 21, 2022 05:34 PM #20

Joel gonna sit for a few with a wrist injury. He's averaging 32 a game with 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.8 blocks. He is stuffing the stat sheet.

Nov 21, 2022 09:30 PM #21

I noticed Och hasn't been on utahs roster, did he go to the D league?

Nov 21, 2022 10:22 PM #22

Salt Lake City stars

Nov 23, 2022 08:49 PM #23

@Crimsonorblue22 Worst possible trade for him coming to Utah from Cleveland.

Dec 12, 2022 01:39 AM #24

Joel goes for 53 tonight in a blowout of the Charlotte team and Oubre who had 29 so 82 points scored by Jayhawks in that one!

Dec 12, 2022 11:42 AM #25

Joel is insane

Dec 12, 2022 12:43 PM #26

Sixers have wasted his prime years by not getting right players around him to win a championship.

Dec 17, 2022 02:07 AM #27

Jo , Jo another solid night. - - 34 points - - - -13 rebounds - - -4 Steals - - 4 assists - - & 2 blocks - -ho hum lol. - -Leading the NBA in scoring with a 33.3 avg.

Didn't realize he leda the NBA in scoring last year either - -Animal

Jan 28, 2023 09:27 PM #28

Embiid is really good at basketball, damn

Jan 29, 2023 03:19 AM #29

@KirkIsMyHinrich 47/17 pretty decent

Jan 29, 2023 12:45 PM #30

MVP

Jan 29, 2023 04:24 PM #31

And what's really sad is they don't even him listed as a starter in the All Star game at his position. The guy led the NBA in scoring last year and got to believe he is at the top or near the top this year

Jan 31, 2023 03:33 AM #32

@jayballer67 Who's the starter? Giannis? I mean it's really a toss up there isn't it?

Jan 31, 2023 02:44 PM #33

@wissox The articles I have read said the Boston and Brooklyn fans have been voting to keep Joel from winning. Only 3 front court players get 1st team.

Jan 31, 2023 03:17 PM #34

@mayjay That sounds like what Boston and NY fans would do, but actually sounds like something Philly fans would do too!

ya probably so -- I'm just Biased I plead guilty- - just think Wow - - - -and I'm not sure who the starter is - just going off what a friend told me & just know that it wasn't JO Jo. - -Just sad Philly hasn't given him more of a supporting cast in the past, it's a little better this year but thinking back how more of a serios of a threat Philley could of been for the crown - seems kind of a waste -- like when they had Simmons -- oh well hopefully this year.

Jan 31, 2023 08:23 PM #36

Philadelphia didn’t give Wilt much of a supporting cast either.

boy is that ever true - Philly is just one of those organizations that make or don't make very wise decisions

Joel Embiid was 19-19 Ft's in his last game and 9-9 tonight so far through 3. For the math challenged that's 27 in a row.

Q: My wife has 3 apples and I have 6 apples. She gives me 2 apples. How many apples does my wife have?

A: Silly question. Obviously she has 9 apples.

And 3 more coming in the mail from Amazon. We have an entire shelf of dubious products that never get used. Anyone need a 6 pack of grow lights that were intended for additional lighting for plants that don't need direct sunlight? No, we're not growing weed... we're growing indoor house plants ... on the patio. Problem is, these lights hurt the plants instead of helping them. So, for the low price of $69.99, we found that out. And they sit on the shelf.

Mar 09, 2023 04:32 PM #44

@Jethro fwiw there should be a free lux meter app (measures light) for your phone that can help you make lighting decisions. I recently purchased a par meter (photosynthetic active radiation) for my reef tank and quickly realized a horrible mistake I had unwittingly made. Should’ve bought the meter sooner and saved a few thousand dollars worth of home grown corals (some I had had for over a decade). 😢
