LAWRENCE — The Kansas football team opened its practice for Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday afternoon, with about 500 fans attending the free event at Memorial Stadium.

Afterward, KU’s coaches and players stayed a half-hour to sign autographs.

“We like to be in front of fans,” KU sophomore kicker Matthew Wyman said. “Everybody wants to sign autographs. Who doesn’t? It makes you feel a little special.”
