LAWRENCE — The announcement Tuesday that Kansas had lost its top two running backs to season-ending injuries hit Ben Heeney a little harder.

Not only does the KU linebacker describe Brandon Bourbon and Taylor Cox as “two of my best friends on the team,” but he also shares an apartment with Bourbon.

“It sucks for Brandon, Taylor, and it sucks for us as a team that we lost two guys like that, hard‑working guys,” Heeney said, “but De’Andre (Mann) and Corey (Avery) are both exceptional players, and they’re going to do very good.”

@kubuckets It would be an awesome idea to take the one standout player on defense (Heeney) and put him in a position to get hurt too.......

Still can't find that sarcasm font.

@nuleafjhawk You can download sartalics here ↗ . It's not available on this board, however. I'll get right on that

@JayHawkFanToo Thanks for the tip. Being just a tad ornery, most of the time I usually like to let people figure it out for themselves. If they can't and they get ticked off ..........................

@jaybate-1.0 Ha, it is now! @nuleafjhawk The whole thing is funny. There's always someone who doesn't get it, maybe the sartalics idea makes sense.

In other news, Bradford out for the season with a torn ACL is really a bummer. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11402476/sam-bradford-st-louis-rams-season-torn-acl ↗ ↗. I remember thinking we were going to see Bradford and Colt McCoy for years to come when they came out in 2010.

After he sits out this year, he will have played only two full season in 5 years; this is very troublesome. No question that he has tons of talent when healthy, but the issue is...can he stay healthy? Is he on his way to becoming the Greg Oden of football?
