LAWRENCE — If the spin worked, Kansas wide receiver Tony Pierson was going untouched to the end zone. Even from 50 yards out. Even with half of the Southeast Missouri State defense ahead of him. If Pierson was able to juke to the inside and regain his balance, none of that would matter.
And maybe in any other year this wouldn’t have been such a foregone conclusion, yet with a retooled Kansas offense it was clear Pierson would get better opportunities to show off his speed.
