OK well it's in the book. A new football coach has been hired for KU, ties to the program, was an assistant under Mangino for two years, has great ties with Texas recruiting as well.
A bonus is he will save the Univ. some money.
Let's just hope he gets things turned around from where they were this past September.
Would have loved to see Bowen get the job. Beaty checks all of the boxes except that he does not have any head coaching experience. Other than that, he has ties to KU, is a strong recruiter, he's young and has some ties to success at KU.
I hope that he keeps Bowen around because Bowen's enthusiasm is critical for a program in the state that KU's is in.
All the reports I have seen are based on a post by FoxSports' Bruce Feldman; The KU Athletics web site has no information on the subjects.. I understand he is in Lawrence but it might be for an in-person interview and not necessarily because he has the job.
I understand that Ed Warinner ↗ was interested and in the run.
I seriously doubt that Bowen would stay after being passed and it would not surprise me to see him end up working with Bill Snyder , who indicated the that he offered Bowen a position in his staff but was turned down.

I know talent is king, but, surely, head football coaches are still supposed to have some coaching expertise on one side of the ball or the other, right?
This feels like another two-year program, unless Beaty can bring in 30 immediately, then 30 next year and find 20 already here.
And two coordinators to coach.
And he has a whizz-house load of brains about the game that he has been storing up.
@jaybate-1.0 I have the same yucky feeling. Clint Bowen would have been a much better hire (in my opinion). He's rooted in Lawrence, is well liked and respected by fans and players. Has played D-1 ball and has head coaching experience. Eight games, but it's still more than this other dude. Oh well, I guess it's only football.
I don't really feel that way, but I have to numb myself into not caring.
If you take a vote among KU fans all over, Bowen would have been the choice of the great majority, and he could have been signed for a relatively low contract cost with performance based incentives.
I would like to think it is not so, but I can't stop thinking that Zenger keeps thumbing his nose at all real KU fans. If Bowen ends up working for Snyder at KSU, then Zenger should be fired.
@JayHawkFan I think I've admitted this before - well, let me start from the beginning. Growing up, and until about 10 years ago, I hated K-State with a great passion. Not on a missery scale of hatred, but on a normal world view of hate - I was right there.
After KSU hired Bill Snyder and they started being relevant, it kind of made my ears perk up and listen to what was going on over there in Manhattan. When I realized what a decent man that Bill Snyder really was ( dear God, please don't let him turn out to be another Bill Cosby....) I actually felt myself pulling for them when they weren't playing us.
So, there's one part of me that would be glad to see Clint Bowen in Manhattan. I think he'd finally get to be part of a consistently good team and he'd be mentored by what has to be considered one of the best college coaches, maybe of all time. ( Who else could have turned around the worst program in the history of college football like that?)
But it would sure be weird to see Clint in purple and I wholeheartedly agree that if that happens, Zenger should be sent packing.
I'm not convinced that he shouldn't be sent packing anyway.....
The stupid TV contract alone, IMHO, should have been enough to send him back to the Little Apple where his loyalties apparently lie anyway
I'm definitely not happy with the choice. This is Zenger's last shot. If Beaty fails, they'll be leaving town together.
If Zenger introduces Beaty at the game tonight, what's the prediction for crowd reaction: polite golf clapping or unrestrained booing?
Beatty is now officially the new HC. Clint Bowen has agreed to stay on as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
I read Kevin Haskins story and he has a side bar that shows he has coordinated a year at Rice and shared offensive coordinator at A&M, so maybe he is better than we at first realized.

@nuleafjhawk I agree. But as much as I may respect Snyder's accomplishments over time, I wont put him in the same category as Saban or Meyer, or Stoops. He is a solid fundamentals guy, but he is NOT a recruiter. One thing everbody should know, is that Snyder absolutely hates KU. He takes the yearly matchup with KU deadly serious, as recruiting for the few instate nobodies that Kansas has could easily affect his pipeline if KU were to seem like an exciting new, winning football product. That whole KSU culture about 'beat KU', you could say is Purple Nation taking their cue from their Master Snyder, is all.
But no worries, as we seem to have energetic guys in Bowen + Beatty, hope they can bring the talent, is it wrong to hope/wish for 4+star guys?
And Father Time suggests KSU may soon be in their own upheaval situation, as Snyder's replacement had better be more capable than Ron Prince...
