@Crimsonorblue22 Meh, WSU is kinda like the redheaded step child of Kansas basketball.

Jan 25, 2015 04:19 AM #3

@Lulufulu what do you think of it?

Jan 25, 2015 01:05 PM #4

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm glad KU has never done that - makes me wonder if Francamp will drop some goodies on us. I hope not, but he'll be walking around with a camera on him for long periods of time...

Their season is boring enough as it is. Look at how exciting the Big 12 is this season. Granted not many conferences can say that, WSU won't have played a ranked opponent since playing Utah at the beginning of December, while they have two ranked teams on their entire schedule. KU has played four different ranked teams in a row (going 3-1). If this WSU series is as boring as their schedule is, I pity whoever watches it.

Jan 25, 2015 06:04 PM #6

They must be pretty good and exiting, after all Ken Pomeroy has them ranked 2 spots above KU...that is correct, Ken Pomeroy believes than Wichita State is better than KU. Of course Pomeroy is the only one out of 40 computer ranking systems that has WSU ahead of KU...but anyone that follows the rating knows that Ken Pomeroy's system is...well... FUBAR!

On the other hand, good for WSU and good publicity (hopefully) for the state. KU had the Wilt movie last year and have a ESPN "game day" coming and despite Zenger's efforts, constant great national exposure, WSU now has a TV show...and now, if can get a remake of Liberace we can get all state's teams covered.

Jan 25, 2015 06:41 PM #7

@JayHawkFanToo so, would a coach agree to this filming solely based on exposure? They can't get money, right? Would Self do this?

Jan 25, 2015 07:11 PM #8

@Crimsonorblue22 I think I am more interested in what Coach Turgeon and Coach Kruger and their respective teams have to say, and what they go through, all that.

Jan 25, 2015 07:15 PM #9

@Lulufulu I agree, do you think Self would do this? I can't think a coach would want to deal w/these distractions during the season. Kinda like a coach being interviewed going in at half time, I'm surprised nobody has gone off yet!

Jan 25, 2015 07:17 PM #10

@Crimsonorblue22

Sure, the program (not the players) can get money and probably it is getting some, plus the exposure, particularly if it reflects favorably and it is not a hatchet job, can be huge and help a great deal in recruiting. KU gets "paid" by TW for all the programming about the sports programs at KU...maybe WSU will follow KU lead and black out Showtime in Wichita. :(

Jan 25, 2015 07:22 PM #11

@Crimsonorblue22 I dont know enough about marketing to really have an opinion. I mean I think Coach Self wouldnt want to do it but if it would help KU then he would?

Jan 25, 2015 07:28 PM #12

@Crimsonorblue22

KU basketball gets plenty of exposure so it does not really need it like WSU does. On the other hand, didn't Zenger sold us out for more exposure for the lesser programs at KU?

Jan 25, 2015 07:30 PM #13

@JayHawkFanToo yep he did!!

Jan 25, 2015 07:47 PM #14

@Crimsonorblue22

...and I still hate Zenger.

Jan 25, 2015 09:41 PM #15

Interesting that this will be filming during the time we play OU.

Jan 25, 2015 09:57 PM #16

Koch Brother recruitment.

Jan 25, 2015 10:59 PM #17

@JayHawk FanToo: That is my beef with Zenger--not only that he sold out the local fans for the potential faraway family fans of minor sports, but that his mentality had to be that of a mid-major AD who did not seem to realize the eliteness of the program he represents. Chancellor BGL really ought to be looking for a first rate AD for our very first rate foundational BB program!

Jan 25, 2015 11:30 PM #18

@EdwordL

I am not particularly impressed with BGL either. Maybe we can ship them both somewhere as a package deal?

Jan 26, 2015 12:33 PM #19

I think they should be on the Disney Channel.

WSU player arrested on suspicion of DUI ↗

Rather ESPN use this image of CF since it doesn't associate him with KU and he's in his new team colors but I'm sure the boys over at ESPN Wildcat Network would like to cut KU down a little.

!CF Image ↗

Wonder if this will make the Showtime series. Glad I'm too cheap to subscribe.

Jan 26, 2015 04:22 PM #21

@Kip_McSmithers that's what I was talking about, follow his court appearances, maybe his community service. Bad!

Jan 26, 2015 04:24 PM #22

Frankamp DUI wont help WSU publicity

Jan 26, 2015 04:43 PM #23

@ralster since he's sitting out for awhile, do you think the punishment will be over before he plays? Or will Marshall punish during his playing time? Not sure what self would do, Brady had to sit the rest of the semester.

Jan 26, 2015 04:47 PM #24

Let's wager on the arresting officers favorite school :)

Jan 26, 2015 05:15 PM #25

@Kip_McSmithers WSU CF arrested on Saturday Night ↗

NBC sports link shows him on the floor at KU but states in the article that he was on the WSU bench when they played Sunday. Marshall probably waiting on the Joe Friday "facts ma'am, just the facts", don't ya think?

Jan 27, 2015 08:19 AM #26

@Crimsonorblue22 "Brady had to sit the rest of the semester."

Brady was arrested on the highway, right after Boot Camp and when the players had just been warned to toe the line after another incident (I think it was the fight with the football players, but not sure). Self had to come down hard.

On the other hand, Brady was legal and Frankamp isn't.

Jan 27, 2015 06:13 PM #27

Maybe Frankamp's problem is more serious than we thought. Police reports that his blood-alcohol content was over twice the legal limit ↗. An individual not used to drinking would have a serious physical impairment ↗ and have trouble geting in the car, let alone driving, unless he has developed a tolerance to alcohol. Perhaps more to the story than we know.
