DOES NBA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR QUALIFY TO HAVE WIGGINS JERSEY HUNG FROM FROM THE RAFTERS?
May 01, 2015 05:50 PM #1

Self has made some modifications to allow names like Chalmer's to hang from the Rafters. Would ROY qualify Wigs for this honor? Will a OAD ever qualify?

@wrwlumpy As much as I love what Wiggins did in his rookie campaign, I really don't think he deserves the honor. Making room for Mario was the right thing to do because of what he did for the university and the program. Wiggins didn't accomplish what others have done at KU, and I don't see any way the honor would be warranted.

Lead us to a National Championship and be named first team All-American...

I thought Chalmers qualified because he was MOP of the Final Four, because every other Final Four MOP has their number hung (Lovellette, Manning).

Clyde and Danny were also first team all American.

Guidelines: Here are jersey retirement guidelines as stated in KU’s 2012-13 media guide:

“The concept of retiring the jerseys of outstanding Jayhawk basketball players was initiated prior to the 1991-92 season, when banners honoring Clyde Lovellette, Danny Manning, B.H. Born, Charlie Black, Paul Endacott, Wilt Chamberlain and Charlie Black were unveiled in the south end of Allen Fieldhouse. The original criteria for a retired jersey included KU players named college basketball player of the year, most valuable player of the NCAA Tournament or being named a four-time All-American. The list was expanded in 1997 to include Ray Evans, who holds the distinction of being an All-American in both football and basketball.

“The criteria were expanded prior to the 2002-03 season to include consensus first-team All-Americans, two-time first-team All-America selections and Academic All-Americans of the Year.”

KU officials said that the athletic director has the authority to adjust the criteria in special circumstances. In other words, a Jayhawk great can have his jersey retired without meeting one of the above guidelines.

I saw the title of this thread and literally the only thing that saved my life was the fact that I didn't have bullets for my gun.

May 01, 2015 08:48 PM #8

@HighEliteMajor Get rid of your guns.

May 01, 2015 08:50 PM #9

@nuleafjhawk Yea, well, given what I see in the streets of some of our cities nowadays, I kind of think not. Thugs.

May 01, 2015 08:51 PM #10

@HighEliteMajor OK then, if you're going to read irksome headlines, continue to keep the ammo locked up. And count to 10.....

May 01, 2015 08:56 PM #11

@nuleafjhawk Yes, and I was just being dramatic. I should have just used the emoji thing (puke).

May 01, 2015 09:05 PM #15

And tell those damn kids to get out of your yard! Wiggins will have his Jersey Hung after they've pried the gun from your cold, dead fingers.

@jaybate-1.0 You're obviously not a Muslim. Olivia is not one of 72 virgins.

@wrwlumpy

SHE IS REMARKABLE.

SO FEW LEFT WITH STAR POWER.

SHE STANDS OUT LIKE VENUS EARLY IN THE EVENING RIGHT NOW IN HOLLYWOOD.

IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN IN SOME WAYS, BUT THE CURRENT CROP OF HOLLYWOOD DIRECTORS HAVE ACUTELY UNDERSIZED VISION.

MOST HAVE HAD TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME WITH BANG BANG AND FX THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD THE LIFE EXPERIENCES NECESSARY TO TRANSFORM OUR VISION. THE TALENTED OTHERS ARE SUFFERING THROUGH ACUTE SENSITIVITY AND THE WHOLE THREE DAY GROWTH VERSION OF WITHERED MANHOOD. DON'T WASTE HER, GUYS. SOME ONE SWING FOR THE FENCES WITH HER.

IT IS AN INHOSPITABLE TOWN RIGHT NOW FOR SUPREMELY TALENTED AND SMART BEAUTIES.

BUT SOME TIME IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS SHE IS GOING TO MAKE AN INCREDIBLY GREAT FILM THAT DEFINES OUR ERA.

IF THE DIRECTORS IN HOLLYWOOD AREN'T AFRAID TO TAKE ON WHAT SHE IS CAPABLE OF.

@HighEliteMajor LOL - I knew you weren't going anywhere - not with the team we're going to have this year!!

@jaybate-1.0 Upvote for the Olivia reference....

May 01, 2015 10:49 PM #20

@wrwlumpy Dude, Chalmers totally deserves his name up there. Wigs? I mean, he's gonna be an all star in the League sooner than later AND he was the first over all #1 KU pick since Manning AND the first KU ROY since Wilt.
But, he was at KU just one season. I dont think that qualifies him for rafter hanging. Just my opinion of course

May 01, 2015 10:51 PM #21

@wrwlumpy Holy cow she is a beauty! I <3 Olivia Wilde

May 01, 2015 10:53 PM #22

@jaybate-1.0 Dude, she was in this tv series about 7 years ago called The Black Donnelys maybe? Great stuff. Too bad it only lasted one season.

May 01, 2015 11:51 PM #23

@Lulufulu She was on House with Hugh Laurie for 2-3 years. House referred to her as "13". Her character unfortunately had Huntingtons as did Woody Guthrie.
