Thanks for Setting This Up
Oct 18, 2013 11:32 AM #1

I don't do Facebook and won't be forced to just to post to a site that I have posted to for so many years. KUSports.com infuriated me with the stupid questions just to freaking read the article and then this Facebook sign in. I will check here and hope others do.

I've read so many great posts by KU fans over the years. My world really wouldn't be the same without that constant dialogue. Happy to help enable it!

Oct 18, 2013 01:23 PM #3

Yes, thank you! Hopefully we can get more kusports posters to move over.

Oct 18, 2013 01:58 PM #4

Absolutely, I feel the same way. Stupid decision by the upper management of the LJW. No doubt influenced by money or some other sort of perceived benefit. Its totally degrading the value of our favorite place for KU BBall.

Oct 18, 2013 03:47 PM #5

Agree 100%. I don't care about the whole anonymity thing as much as being forced to use FB, which I don't and won't use. (It's blocked at work anyway, which is when I did the majority of my reading and posting - sorry, boss). I've still been reading the KUsports.blah blah blah site, and with all due respect to my fellow great KU fans, it's just kind of boring now. Anway - approxinfinity, thank you for setting this up.

Oct 18, 2013 03:50 PM #6

No problem, my pleasure, it's good to see you guys!

Oct 18, 2013 06:32 PM #7

Kudos to you for taking the time to set this up. Awesome work, man.

Oct 18, 2013 07:04 PM #8

Glad to be aboard. I once had a FB account but shut it down months ago. Never post where I'm required to allow access to my personal info. Now I'm looking forward to all the old posters to get on board so we can get things back to normal. RCJH.

Ditto on setting -up this site. I was beginning to feel lost in the cyber-wilderness

Oct 18, 2013 08:52 PM #10

Thanks! Love the sight!

Will be able to load avatars? Soon???

Oct 18, 2013 08:52 PM #11

I like how you can make italics. Thanks again!

Oct 18, 2013 08:54 PM #12

will we...

(wouldn't mind being able to edit cuz I'm a grammar snob)

Note: all suggestions, no criticism ... spellcheck works :-)

Oct 18, 2013 09:20 PM #13

JayDogger, since I'm dumb AND lazy, could you please tell me how to do the italics thing? And possibly bold type, if that's an option. Thank you!

Oct 18, 2013 09:24 PM #14

'leaf, put *on each side of the word/s you want to italicize.

Oct 18, 2013 09:25 PM #15

Also, you can edit/delete a post by clicking on those dark grey boxes to the right of your own post.

Oct 18, 2013 09:28 PM #16

Well, I thought you could edit/delete your own post but it's not working. Still beta testing obviously.

By the Duke game I bet this sight will be rockin'!

Oct 18, 2013 09:30 PM #17

JayDogger - Thank You very much!!

Oct 18, 2013 09:30 PM #18

Oct 18, 2013 09:33 PM #19

No prob.

...trying to figure out bold...

Oct 18, 2013 09:35 PM #20

Hope to resolve that tonight if possible!

Oct 18, 2013 09:37 PM #21

approx, try to make the comment replies directly under the comment instead of at the bottom (if it's not too much trouble). :-)

Love the sight!

Oct 18, 2013 09:39 PM #22

testing...is this in bold?

Oct 18, 2013 09:43 PM #23

...if you put this: on each side of what you want in bold it will be bold. I think there is an easier way, though. It's an html coder thing.

Oct 18, 2013 09:43 PM #24

testing... underline

Oct 18, 2013 09:46 PM #25

testing underline not underlined

Oct 19, 2013 01:25 AM #26

Really thrilled to find this. Thanks so much. As we've all said many times, LJW made a big mistake, after many recent mistakes. The arrogance that we would bow to their demands and completely ignore the obvious decimation and dissolution of their site's best features, and not reconsider their ridiculous decision-making, has caused the final nail in the coffin. Again, thanks! Now, let the games begin!

Oct 19, 2013 02:02 AM #27

@jaydogger I see what you mean... This might be a good candidate to request on the nodebb issues page ↗. If I have the bandwidth I may try to tackle this at some point, but its lower priority than other things for me at the moment, although I totally agree it would be way better to be nested more than 1 layer deep.

They do have a feature where you can address people by using @ and their username in your post (like I did here -- worth noting, it didnt like it when I used anything but lowercase.. yech). This way, you can target the person higher in the comment thread that you're addressing.. it's something...

Anyway, I will get involved in their code base at some point soon, but first priority for me is to get the configuration right.

Oct 19, 2013 02:51 AM #28

Agreed, the powers that be at the LJW seem to be trying hard to kill kusports. I have been a long time reader of their articles and message boards, but was never able to set up an account for some reason, and I'm not a facebook guy. None of those problems here, thanks approxinfinity.

Oct 19, 2013 03:52 PM #29

Yep. Thanks for setting this up!

Oct 20, 2013 01:38 AM #30

@approxinfinity

Thanks again for the hard work! (testing what you suggested)

Oct 20, 2013 01:44 AM #31

@jaydogger lookin good JD, thanks!

Oct 20, 2013 03:49 AM #32

Thanks for providing a forum for KU sports fans. Hard to believe how much of a bone headed decision the LJW made.

At one time or another, we have all posted our location and together with the complete name, it becomes a safety issue, as anyone with minimum Google knowledge can locate you with this information.

On a separate note, I tried updating my avatar with no luck. I locate the JPG, load it and save it and after I exit, it only shows a small "x" in a box. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is there a preferred graphics format and/or size limits or waiting period?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Oct 20, 2013 04:14 AM #33

@jayhawkfantoo yep, I've been testing on another server I got today and think I know the exact steps to rectify the problem now (have it working perfectly on the test server), just waiting for a good time to do it when people wont mind getting punted.

Oct 21, 2013 01:47 PM #34

I like it! Better than the LJW already.

Oct 21, 2013 05:50 PM #35

The LJW cooked the goose that laid the golden egg. It's great to see people have a place to talk about sports and KU without giving in to the new overly-demanding LJW posting policy. Good for all of you!

Oct 21, 2013 09:11 PM #36

Thanks for setting this up. I really appreciate the effort...I was going through jayhawk info withdrawl. I don't comment all that much but love to read. I also check into Jayhawk lounge and will watch both for the time being.

Yep, I'm looking for jaybate too, but must admit there are times I have to scroll past--no malice.

Oct 22, 2013 02:06 AM #37

@approxinfinity Test to see where this reply will show up--hope it is under your original comment.

edit Nope

Oct 22, 2013 04:18 AM #38

Good Job Approxinfinity. Thanks for the Site!
