I'm starting to think that we need to plant a permanent Jayhawk recruiting operative in Memphis. It appears that Pastner can't keep his troops happy. Here is a read that explains plenty:

Austin Nichols is now the third transfer request in recent months. I wonder if Self has an interest in Austin?

Here is a good read about Nichols making a smart move in getting an attorney to free him up to go to whatever university he wants to. This explains how schools are easily pushed into releasing all transfer demands and letting a player do as he wants after hiring an attorney to bash the school for not being player-friendly and expressing problems at the school.

@drgnslayr It doesn't matter if Self has any interest in Nichols because KU doesn't have a scholarship and Self isn't going to force someone out at this point to get a second player who can't contribute on the floor this year.

There's also another school pretty close to KU that's having major problems keeping their players and is fun watching their coach destroy his program. Kim Anderson has to be on a very hot seat right now as bad as Missouri was last year and with all the transfers they've had this year including another one those week.

@drgnslayr I was gobsmacked over the way they handled their latest transfer. Pastner is out as coach - might not be until the season ends this year, but he is bye-bye.

Does MU even have any players left on scholarship? No question that moving to the SEC sent a message that says we are a football school now and basketball is not important. Hiring incompetent after incompetent coach does not help either. Snyder was looking at MU as a stepping stone and the best finish MU had in the conference was tie for 5th and finished 11th in his last season. Anderson was/is a one trick pony and left the school when he saw the writing on the wall. Haith was by far the worst and led the team to the bottom and now Kim Anderson inherited a program in shambles and getting worse.

Just think that MU passed on Bill Self and hired pretty boy Snyder instead....they could have had Coach Self all these years and be on top of the college basketball world. This decision alone warrants their ongoing mediocrity.

@JayHawkFanToo Mike Anderson is a very good coach who's won everywhere he's been. He didn't leave because the writing was on the wall there, he left Arkansas because of Nolan Richardson the same way Roy left here because of Dean Smith. Anderson made Missouri a very good program that was competitive with KU and had some of the best Border Wars of the past 15-20 years.

Frank Haith was a bad hire. The guy couldn't win while cheating and he left because he knew he was going to be fired. Missouri may have been back sliding under Haith, but he's not the one who cratered the program.

Kim Anderson absolutely cratered that program and he probably won't get a 3rd season and may not even survive this season. He just isn't cut out to coach D1 basketball.

I'm on board with our post. Anderson was good... too good for Missouri. Haith was mediocre. Anderson just doesn't have what it takes.

Anderson finished 6th, 10th , 3rd, 5th, t5th at MU...a record pretty similar to Snyder and except for the #3 finish the others were pretty blah. In 13 years as head coach, he won one conference title (tied for 1st on his second year as coach) in Conference USA and has never won one again, not in the Big 12 and not in the SEC where his chance of winning a championship ahead of teams like UK and Florida seems unlikely. His overall record is 286–146 (.662) which is fairly pedestrian. As coaches go, I would call him a middle of the pack coach and definitely not elite.
