How does this site come up with the listings on the board? Doesn't make any sense to me? Here is the latest on the football side:

Shouldn't a post that was most recently responded to be at the top of the threads? Why are posts that haven't been responded to in a month above posts that were recently posted and responded to? As a user who visits often I want to see the changes from the last time I visited up top so I can see them quickly and not waste time reviewing stuff that hasn't changed in over 30 days.

So being relatively new to the site I don't know how this board is managed but if there were a way to change this it would make the board more user efficient for guys like me. Again thanks to the managers for providing this outlet.

Sorry @eastcoasthawk. I pin stories because people didn't like that the most recently responded to show up above the most recently posted, but I forgot to pin the last 2 football posts, so they had dropped below the pinned stories. I now unpinned all football stories, as it probably doesn't need to be regulated the same way bball stories do. I might also unpin bball stories, as people are probably accustomed to seeing the most recent stories promoted to the message of the day, so pinning might well be redundant.

Good question, thanks for bringing it up.

Don't be sorry. Just wanted to understand how it is done. I appreciate you setting this up.

Seems you pinning all the stories just means more work for you. Here is what I have seen on the sports boards I frequent:

With a sport "in season" the managers usually pin an important pre or post game discussion thread and then release it after 2-3 days later when we move on towards the next game.

Many times they lock the pre-game or in-game thread once the game is over.

They actually mark pinned threads so readers understand there may not have been any changes in the responses.

I am not saying you should do any of this but wanted to offer suggestions as you figure out how best to keep fans happy/returning while at the same time minimizing your hands on management. Not an easy balancing act.

That sounds like a perfect solution. Thanks! I will try that with just the pre/post game threads, and lock threads when the next game's thread begins. Haven't tried the lock functionality yet, but it is there.
