McCarthy Hall - One Big Magnet For Elite Recruits
Oct 16, 2015 03:28 AM #1

This month marks the grand opening of McCarthy Hall, a state-of-the-arts dorm facility that was designed by Donald Trump, Hugh Hefner and Kansas Head Coach, Bill Self.

It is hard to envision 4 walls and a roof creating so much buzz around the college basketball world, but trust me, there is more buzz on Planet McCarthy than in all the honey beehive farms in the northern hemisphere.

McCarthy Hall is more than a dorm facility; it is an expression from Kansas Jayhawk fans on just how much they appreciate Jayhawk basketball players... to the point of creating a heaven for the Gods!

I wonder if any of the current buzz spreading through the elite recruiting world has been fueled from the announcement of who will be sharing common space with the team in their new digs?

Last one in the hot tub is a rotten egg!

(no malice, no harm, yada-yada)

@drgnslayr

Hudy's assistants?

Cheerleaders?

Welcome Wagoneers?

NCAA clearance investigators?

@drgnslayr In the wake of the Louisville investigation, they probably shouldn't be hanging around McCarthy right now. Impressions and what not.

Looks like a group of girls at a Flintstones Halloween party.

That better not be McCarty Hall because if that is the best location they could find, then I am not impressed; looking at the walls, paint and floor looks like an older building.

@JayHawkFanToo That's pretty funny .. that's exactly what it looks like. Not sure Wilma had hot pink though in 5000 BC, though.

@JayHawkFanToo-Yes, from the headlights aft towards to the fins, the visual appears to be in accurate specs. But a closer diagrammatic seems to reveal some optional grille work that could possibly be considered.
However, one does sincerely need to venerate what the great Mickey Gilly once lyrically articulated about ... " Closin' Time "... once again, certainly no malice intended.

Okay.... jokes aside..... I wonder how they pick the other lucky students who will get the swank treatment without risking an ACL injury?

@drgnslayr

Phase I of the project houses only 38 students ↗of which only half can be athletes. I will guess that 19 slots are taken by the basketball team (15) plus student assistants and the other 19 by student related to the athletes or wealthy students...I bet staying there does not come cheap.

@JayHawkFanToo

I thought the women's basketball team would live there, too? It used to be promoted that way...

Oct 16, 2015 03:07 PM #10

@drgnslayr Well, that's the way Tyshawn thought it should be ...

Oct 16, 2015 03:14 PM #11

@drgnslayr IIRC, the original plan was to have it house about 70 people with both the men's and women's teams and the original cost was about $17 million.

Oct 16, 2015 03:33 PM #12

@drgnslayr

This is Phase I of the project and the actual breakdown is 17 athletes and 21 non-athletes. When Phase 2 is completed, it will host 66 student of which 28 will be athletes and 38 non-athletes.

They have an elite cleaning crew for McCarthy Hall.

I'm guessing they are limited on bringing in "lady guests?"

What a pity...
