Mets vs Royals - World Series Game 3
Oct 30, 2015 08:36 PM #1

Article from the ESPN Grantland site. Read it while you can...ESPN just announced that they're shutting down Grantland. Too bad...they had some great long-form articles.

Man that's a lot to digest...thanks for the link... Only thing I'm not reading much of anywhere is that 4 ROYALS of the starting 9 have been nominated for Gold Glove Awards & that Lo Cain is not one of them. Neither was Moose at 3rd. All the stats on the planet can be hashed, re-hashed, & regurgitated over & over but a definite major advantage is that this defense can be as suffocating & as oppressive as a Louisiana bayou (this one's for you @brooksmd ) during a mid August cloudburst.. It's yet another critical dagger to go with their ultra efficient offense & lockdown relievers. Mets gotta take 4 of 5 & KC needs only 2 more monstrous wins & for the big parade. Man I can't wait to get this party started!

Oct 30, 2015 10:50 PM #3

@globaljaybird Last nite is was Degrom or whatever his name was that was supposed to put the Mets back in the series. Now MLB is saying this guy Thor will get the W the Mets need. Wasn't that guy in game one also supposed to be their big gun? Well I'll take our starters and bullpen and guys that can hit the fastball for base hits any day. Let's get #3 tonite and put the Mets in the position of having to win 4 straight, 2 of which in the friendly confines of the K!!!

Oct 30, 2015 11:06 PM #4

But we need a Cueto-like performance by Ace tonite if we're gonna put the Mets in a 0-3 hole. Ace only has 1 win in 4 post season starts, giving up 10 runs in 17 innings. Ear plugs and ear muffs to keep the crowd out of his head and a decent ump behind the plate would keep his head on straight.

Oct 30, 2015 11:31 PM #5

Lets go Royals!! πŸ‘πŸ‘ πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Oct 30, 2015 11:55 PM #6

Do all those long haired pitchers look alike?

Oct 30, 2015 11:59 PM #7

Gotta hand it to Billy Joel on the National Anthem. Nice to hear somebody sing it instead of butcher it.

Oct 31, 2015 12:07 AM #8

yikes. Just witnessed a guy get hit by a semi. Hope he's alright.

Oct 31, 2015 12:10 AM #9

No doubt how Moose felt about the first pitch.

Oct 31, 2015 12:13 AM #10

Shut up those announcers and fans, Thor my ass

Oct 31, 2015 12:15 AM #11

Nice base running by Zo. Soon as he saw 3rd base was taking that grounder he was off to the races.

Oct 31, 2015 12:16 AM #12

Pitcher tagged out doo dah

Oct 31, 2015 12:16 AM #13

Nice start.

Oct 31, 2015 12:19 AM #14

Okay Ace...time to shut the fans up.

Oct 31, 2015 12:23 AM #15

@nwhawkfan Ace best not start out playin chin music.

Oct 31, 2015 12:24 AM #16

Oct 31, 2015 12:26 AM #18

Thought the wind was blowing in.... guess it's from the first base dugout.

Oct 31, 2015 12:26 AM #19

@Crimsonorblue22 where's gramps? Date night?

Oct 31, 2015 12:27 AM #20

@globaljaybird probably at the concession stand!

Oct 31, 2015 12:30 AM #21

@globaljaybird Right here ya old fart. Good heads up play by Zo. That's 2 biggies by him so far.

Oct 31, 2015 12:38 AM #24

All aboard the singles train!

Oct 31, 2015 12:39 AM #25

Well, it's been fun.

I'm off to get something to eat. Hopefully it won't be a problem finding a table at a sports bar in Lawrence homecoming weekend with the Royals playing in the world series.

It's raining and cold, so that might help. :grinning:

Oct 31, 2015 12:39 AM #26

@DanR Good luck !

Oct 31, 2015 12:42 AM #27

Thor Thor Thor, bla bla bla!!!

Oct 31, 2015 12:43 AM #28

So much for the Mets amazin starting rotation!

Oct 31, 2015 12:44 AM #29

I'm impressed with the speed of Ace. He wasn't an easy out on that bunt. Hey Thor, keep tossing those fastballs. @globaljaybird that grantland article just drooled all over the Mets catcher vs Salvy. Hasn't impressed me any.

Oct 31, 2015 12:45 AM #30

I'm o'd ing on Halloween candy!

Oct 31, 2015 12:46 AM #31

@Crimsonorblue22 what kind?

Oct 31, 2015 12:46 AM #32

Don't tread on KC !!! Up 3-2 Yeeeaaaah!!!

Oct 31, 2015 12:46 AM #33

@Eric ate all the snickers yesterday, starting on butterfingers in honor of mets!😬

Oct 31, 2015 12:47 AM #34

Hmm, it seems like Mr. Thor is vincible...

Oct 31, 2015 12:47 AM #35

@Crimsonorblue22 said:

PHOF!!!

Oct 31, 2015 12:48 AM #36

I think I have diabetes now! Lil butterfingers are so soft!

Oct 31, 2015 12:48 AM #37

@Crimsonorblue22 LOL

Oct 31, 2015 12:49 AM #38

Ace keeps the ball down and keeps getting that call he's gold.

Oct 31, 2015 12:49 AM #39

Royals are so far up the Mets heads, they are scared to throw their best pitch.

Oct 31, 2015 12:49 AM #40

I also bought babe Ruth's!⚾️

Oct 31, 2015 12:51 AM #41

@Crimsonorblue22 Baby Ruth, 100 Grand, Payday and Twizzlers. Ump just blew that one.

Oct 31, 2015 12:51 AM #42

That was a strike!

Oct 31, 2015 12:52 AM #43

@brooksmd I got twizzlers too

Oct 31, 2015 12:52 AM #44

That strike was the same you missed on last hitter. Open your eyes ump. I know they're coming fast but try and keep up.

Oct 31, 2015 12:54 AM #45

2 down, 7 to go. Keep it going Ace. Gotcha covered after 7.

Oct 31, 2015 12:55 AM #46

@Crimsonorblue22 Got some Russell Stover chocolate & caramel minis. Trying to support KC-based businesses when I can.

Oct 31, 2015 12:55 AM #47

@nwhawkfan I love choc and Carmel

Oct 31, 2015 01:04 AM #48

@brooksmd I just told my son that the article had Salvy ranked as the 28th best catcher & Darnol at 3rd Lol

Oct 31, 2015 01:05 AM #49

@globaljaybird joke

Oct 31, 2015 01:07 AM #50

That'll piss ace off!

Oct 31, 2015 01:07 AM #51

@globaljaybird Ace let up on that pitch and he should've kept the heat on. Dumb when you got a pretty much gimme for a first out.

Oct 31, 2015 01:07 AM #52

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm pissed at Ace.

Oct 31, 2015 01:08 AM #53

Are you effin kidding me?

Oct 31, 2015 01:08 AM #54

Yeah, you screwed up Ace.

Oct 31, 2015 01:08 AM #55

@brooksmd dble pissed now

Oct 31, 2015 01:08 AM #56

HR with a pitcher on base...

Oct 31, 2015 01:09 AM #57

@Crimsonorblue22 Especially with the ump giving him that low pitch. Stupid.

Oct 31, 2015 01:11 AM #58

Yo losing some velocity on his FB..

Oct 31, 2015 01:12 AM #59

Defense still okay. Just need a few more runs.

Oct 31, 2015 01:13 AM #60

@Eric More than likely the 2 hits messed up his head. Easily loses it.

Oct 31, 2015 01:15 AM #61

Bats, please...again...

Oct 31, 2015 01:29 AM #62

Guess Ace forgot to play D?

Oct 31, 2015 01:33 AM #63

Good for Ned...now he can start using his pinch hitters when he needs to. Medlin, Morales & Madsen all get ready cause it's just the 4th. Still alota game to go.

Oct 31, 2015 01:42 AM #64

Need a longer bat for that one Esky.

Oct 31, 2015 01:43 AM #65

This is the kid that took Gores roster spot...& he starts with a whiff.

Oct 31, 2015 01:45 AM #66

@globaljaybird Never played higher than AA ball. Gore should be here.

Oct 31, 2015 01:48 AM #67

@brooksmd Colon or Gomes made more sense to me than a double A ball rookie. This was likely not all Neds call.

Oct 31, 2015 01:50 AM #68

Felt like it was to have a backup infielder in case Zobrist has to come home.

Oct 31, 2015 01:51 AM #69

Johnny's west every tv is on the royals. hope to get some food in the next couple hours and score some runs

Oct 31, 2015 01:54 AM #70

Oct 31, 2015 01:56 AM #71

Oct 31, 2015 02:11 AM #74

Oh good, Colon in the pen...

Oct 31, 2015 02:14 AM #75

Kids thrown 95 pitches, arm gettin weary

Oct 31, 2015 02:15 AM #76

Nail one Gordo ...

Oct 31, 2015 02:18 AM #77

I want Morales !

Oct 31, 2015 02:18 AM #78

@globaljaybird u r getting him, the pitcher

Oct 31, 2015 02:29 AM #79

@Crimsonorblue22 I wanted Kenrdrys to ph for Rios- not Franklin

Oct 31, 2015 02:31 AM #80

@Crimsonorblue22 Mets PH came through.. Ned's a step behind Natl League ball...

Oct 31, 2015 02:32 AM #81

That looked like Mets D.

Oct 31, 2015 02:32 AM #82

@globaljaybird Yank him Ned

Oct 31, 2015 02:33 AM #83

@globaljaybird I know

Oct 31, 2015 02:33 AM #84

Simple dp play and didn't even get 1 out.

Oct 31, 2015 02:33 AM #85

Annoyed

Oct 31, 2015 02:33 AM #86

@brooksmd lil league

Oct 31, 2015 02:34 AM #87

@brooksmd Zobrist whiffed the cutoff so lucky the ph'er didn't take 2 nd on the throw...

Oct 31, 2015 02:36 AM #88

Ballgame.

Oct 31, 2015 02:36 AM #89

Gotta be a 6 run comeback now...

Oct 31, 2015 02:38 AM #90

Maybe no joy in Mudville tonight. ?

Oct 31, 2015 02:40 AM #91

Ned might as well leave him out there and save the bullpen for tomorrow...

Oct 31, 2015 02:52 AM #92

@nwhawkfan need runners, ain't givin up on these guys...but I am hittin the shower...

Oct 31, 2015 03:05 AM #93

This is gonna be a gratifying win!

Oct 31, 2015 03:05 AM #94

Think back to the first game at Toronto and about the same thing, Royals lost 11-8. But remember what happened the next game. Royals 14-2.

Oct 31, 2015 03:06 AM #95

Two innings left for six runs... uphill for sure, but I'm not giving up yet.

Oct 31, 2015 03:12 AM #96

Is it me or have all three umps strike zone been inconsistent for the Royals?

Oct 31, 2015 03:17 AM #97

When Mother Earth clears her throat, we may have some doubt...

Oct 31, 2015 03:19 AM #98

Okay, off to dinner. Get 'em tomorrow! Hope I can catch enough of the game in-between all the Halloween hoo-hah...

Oct 31, 2015 03:19 AM #99

Hot - damn potatoe !

Oct 31, 2015 03:20 AM #100

Dang they know all the words🎢🎢

Oct 31, 2015 03:21 AM #101

Looks like Billy's livin the dream... It's OK guys- it's only for one night...

Oct 31, 2015 03:22 AM #102

@nwhawkfan be like me and eat it all

Oct 31, 2015 03:22 AM #103

@globaljaybird better just be one!

Oct 31, 2015 03:25 AM #104

@Crimsonorblue22 Let me tell you my feelings about Joel. I was stationed at RAF Greenham Common in England back in the 80's when Reagan put in the Ground Launched Cruise Missiles there. Joel was doing concerts in London and as his protest against the GLCM system being installed, he refused to allow ticket sales to our base. So as far as I'm concerned, he can suck it!!!

Oct 31, 2015 03:27 AM #105

Has Morales ever pinch hit ? Shoulda used him for Rios with 2 on & 2 out when were only a run down cause the pitchers spot was next & he changed pitchers & burnt the pinch hitter to start the next inning with no one on & down 4 runs...That's the way NL ball is so Ned best recall the brainwaves before the next game. JMO

Oct 31, 2015 03:30 AM #106

These yahoo announcers couldn't be happier

Oct 31, 2015 03:32 AM #107

With Chris Young on the mound tomorrow, I do not want to hear Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young"

Oct 31, 2015 03:33 AM #108

@DanR ha!

Oct 31, 2015 03:33 AM #109

@brooksmd Wouldn't have hurt my feelings about the tickets - never liked him anyway... Was more inclined towards country music than pop back then. I though a lot of pop music sounded way too flaky... Of course that's only my opinion. But I never have like Joel.

Oct 31, 2015 03:34 AM #110

See ya'll tomorrow nite. Gonna turn off the lights and make like nobody home so won't be bothered by T-n-T'ers. Don't get many anyway cause out in the country and everybody on 2+ acre lots. Later......

Oct 31, 2015 03:35 AM #111

I'm not a very good loser! We better get this one tmrw!

Oct 31, 2015 03:36 AM #112

@brooksmd I might turn the lights off at gametime!

Oct 31, 2015 03:36 AM #113

@Crimsonorblue22 Northeast bias. As KU fans we use to it.

Oct 31, 2015 03:37 AM #114

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah, like puppies with 2 you-know-what's....probably Rollin really high on grandiose expense accounts.

Oct 31, 2015 03:38 AM #115

@globaljaybird ?

Oct 31, 2015 03:44 AM #116

So after young who can pitch?

Oct 31, 2015 03:46 AM #117

@brooksmd GN pops, I haven't had a TT-er for 11 years . But I still manage to keep the candy handy Only bout 10 homes in this mile section...& no street lites make it dark as coal... Door bell used to drive my poor pups batty. Don't miss it at all.

Oct 31, 2015 03:47 AM #118

@Crimsonorblue22 If you don't know then I ain't tellin...

Oct 31, 2015 03:47 AM #119

@globaljaybird u enjoy that!

Oct 31, 2015 03:49 AM #120

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah but it's not my line. It's from City Slickers... Now do you remember?

Oct 31, 2015 03:50 AM #121

@Crimsonorblue22 Volquez will be up Sunday. And as far as relief, nobody broke a sweat tonite.

Oct 31, 2015 03:52 AM #122

@Crimsonorblue22 Hochever & Duffy each went one inning so they should be good. They're both young guys.

Oct 31, 2015 03:57 PM #123

@brooksmd @Crimsonorblue22 Reactions to 1st inning knockdown of Escobar video KC Star- "Very weak & unprofessional." ...to say it rather nicely.

Oct 31, 2015 04:10 PM #124

Tonight may be chilly in the 50's but wind should not be a factor with fly balls. I wouldn't' mind seeing Kendrys Morales in right field or maybe Hosmer there & Morales at first. A 100 rbi guy needs to be hackin away IMO.

Oct 31, 2015 04:20 PM #125

@globaljaybird that really pissed me off! The fact that he said it too!😑

Oct 31, 2015 04:38 PM #126

@nwhawkfan I just watched The Sandlot, one of my favorites, so I think we'll be good tonight.

Oct 31, 2015 05:06 PM #127

@Crimsonorblue22 Agreed-throw at the body but not the head. Clearly they were trying to get in Ace's head. I guess taking advantage of a weakness is what it was, but the cheap & dangerous way to do it.
