@Crimsonorblue22 Nice.

I'll bet you a thousand dollars that at every away game we play this year, someone in the crowd will have a sign that says: YOU'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANY MORE.

Even at the K-State game, because they probably don't really know where they're at.

@nuleafjhawk remember - was it the Fireside Theatre "Don't crush that dwarf, hand me the pliers?" "How can you be anyplace when you're not anywhere at all..."like Manhattan...

@globaljaybird Actually, it was Firesign Theater...my favorite comedy group growing up. Phil Austin (aka "Nick Danger"), who lived here in the Northwest, passed away over the summer, joining Peter Bergman in that great comedy club in the sky.

@nwhawkfan Rocky Rococo at your cervix.

One of many great lines. You had to listen to their albums two or three times through to catch all the puns and double (or triple)-entendres.

Nov 06, 2015 11:24 PM #16

@wrwlumpy I thought u were talking to me😱. Jk

@nwhawkfan thanks for the assist ... Some of my memories from those trying & tumultuous times in the 70's are a tad foggy for some strange reason...now I just keep the brandy handy. Cognac can get over budget too quickly.

@globaljaybird I'm a bit of a spelling and punctuation nazi, so I'm ashamed that I typed "Theater" instead of "Theatre" (though to complicate things, their first album showed them as "Firesign Theater.")

Always enjoyed their rapid-fire style.. In terms of pop culture puns, the closest thing I've found nowadays is the soccer-based comedy duo Men In Blazers on NBC SN. Either that or 30 Rock.

Have you ever really thought about the "you're not in Kansas anymore" phenomenon?

Makes you wonder about the people who say it... how dumb can they be that they think we would get their place mixed up with Kansas?!

30 years ago a friend of mine was taking a cab in NYC and he mentioned being from Kansas. The driver asked, "you still have Indians there?" Of course, there are Native Americans in all 50 states.... but my friend replied "yes" and went on to fudge up a whopper. He fabricated all kinds of fairy tales, like we still all rode horses, we have no telephones or television... etc etc etc.

Maybe we have too much time on our hands, so we have time to read about the rest of the world, and sometimes go travel in it.
