Every one of us has had a substitute teacher at one time or another, right? How about next year at the Elite Eight (yes, we will be there again) we hire a substitute coach? Just a one game deal - don't go crazy. I'm not suggesting we fire the best coach in the country (except for that one game.....)

My vote for that one game would be Frank Martin. The purple's all gone from him now and i LOVE his passion. He motivates me just watching him on TV and I don't give a crap about South Carolina.

@nuleafjhawk I have a feeling he might be busy. I wonder if Zion Williamson will be looking harder at SC now.

@nuleafjhawk as a former student and teacher I do ha e say that unless it's a long term sub that the subs still follow the lesson plan of the teacher.

They don't go in and change the whole course of study in one or two days.

Also the students usually try and show up said substitute teacher by breaking normal classroom rules or being a rebel. Driving the substitute to yell, cry or drink in frustration.

@nuleafjhawk I'm going with a substitute tournament plan next year to avoid this heartache and angst (yes, I need therapy).

Step 1: enjoy the heck out of the regular season and B12 tourney.

Step 2: Watch round 1 game.

Step 3: Skip Round 2, Sweet 16 game and E8 games of the fMarch carney.

Step 4: If we make the F4 I will watch all remaining games.

This plan will avoid most if not all of the frustration rounds. If we make the F4 then I'm happy, it is a great season. If we lose early, I will skip all the crap.

Alt option is to skip first round too. I'll go fishing with my son and eradicate my annual melt down.

If you want a substitute coach for the E8, my choice would Izzo who sports a nice shiny 7-2 record in E8 games.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised If a lot of D1 head coaches adopted your system about the time the apparent long stacks emerged. 😄

What a day 1

@FarNrthJHwk Yes it's a really good place, I hope you stick around. We argue, laugh and BS each other, but it's more like a family than any other online place I've found. We try to keep things civil but are not always successful. The good thing is we usually kiss and make up. Good KU loving people here.

@nuleafjhawk Good to know. Gotta have something to fill my time during retirement now that basketball is over and I don't get to scout any more.

@Texas-Hawk-10 But Izzo is 0-4 in semifinal in his last 4 FFs. He obviously is taking the wrong approach. Cannot be a coincidence!

@FarNrthJHwk welcome aboard! I love this board. Lots of good intel and thoughtful discussion, people watch their language, no silly name-calling (except for other teams' coaches), people generally keep their heads on straight. I think the only other coach people on this site like is Izzo. And Bill Self is beyond reproach for a few. And a lot of people confuse critiquing someone (esp Bill Self) as calling for his head.

But other than that, great board. I can tell already that you'll enjoy, and we'll enjoy having you among us.

This may sound like blasphemy, but how about Tyron Lue.

@chriz izzo was at home this year, so he was free.

@Crimsonorblue22 ya gotta admit though, Self has some Elite Eight issues.
