We really need Doke to make the same decision.

The Big 12 will be very good again next season. KU, KSU, WVU, ISU, Texas, Texas Rech., and TCU are all top 20 or potential top 20 teams. OU will drop dramatically and will be at the bottom of the conference; looks like Kruger has run out of magic. Critical year for Smart, he has now a team he fully recruited with talent and experience; a finish in the bottom half and his seat become extremely hot...fireable hot actually.

We also appear to need TPTB to declare DaSousa to be a victim, not a perp.

Or else we appear to need the NCAA to announce general amnesty.

Good post. Yes... the heat is turning up on Shaka. He seems he has not really found a system that works in Big 12. It's a different brand of basketball and he's at the school with the guaranteed hot seat because of their astronomical budget.

I think the Texas faithful are starting to question their gimmick pick for coach.

Glad Konate will be back. He's a pretty amazing catch for Huggy Bear. And he does nothing but make Doke better. Doke needs to be challenged.

@drgnslayr I don't think Shaka is a bad coach. Nevada was a good team weren't they? And Rick Barnes lost to an #11 Loyola team, as much as I like Barnes... I feel like the crap Shaka catches, at least from me, is because Texas did Barnes wrong.

Smart’s record in the Big 12 is a putrid 23-31 and all 3 years he had top 3 talent. Next season he will have his own hand picked team and anothet bottom half finish will likely result in his seat getting real hot and a bottom 2 or 3 finish might cost him his job.

I always like Rick Barnes. He's a quality coach and a quality person. The Big 12 lost real quality when he left.

I can't equate Shaka to Rick. He seems too much of a gimmick.

Maybe I'm just an old timer and relate better to Barnes.

Barnes was good for the Big12. Barnes was a very good recruiter and coach. Texasss messed up and it’ll cost them them the better part of a decade.
