Not shocking given his other offers but still sucks.

Doesn’t sound good for Beaty. Going to have to have a major recruiting haul or on the field results to keep his job. Neither look promising. There will likely be a new football coach just to change momentum, but will it matter?

Would you hire an assistant coach from Bama or LSU to be our HC if you had a 100% guarantee that LeGendre came to KU?

@Kcmatt7 I'd hire them anyway.

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm talking more of like a position coach than a coordinator...

Kind of surprised at what I found actually. - -Went over the KU roster total players kind of surprised me they list on the roster for the names listed added up to 110 players on the roster , the breakdown surprised me some too , more freshmen & Soph then I thought they were: 16 Freshmen - - - 13 Red shirt Freshmen - - - 18 Sophomores 2 red shirt Sophomores. - -then as we know really overloaded with Juniors - - -32 , & 2 Red shirt Juniors - - - & 24 Seniors & 2 Red shirt Seniors.

The one thing that really surprised me was on the Defensive side we ONLY list 4 Defensive ends period on the roster - - - - 4 - -doesn't that seem a little strange out of 110 players? - -maybe not

Not shocking Legendre left. Makes it even easier to sever ties with Beaty and as good as Tony Hull has been for KU, there's now not as much pressure on a new coach to try and keep Hull to keep Legendre as nice as that would've been.

@Texas-Hawk-10 as of today Tony Hull is he only decent recruiter in the staff. I’d sure like to see him stick around, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see everyone go.

@Texas-Hawk-10 @dylans

I will guess that a new coach would want to bring his own people and start with a clean slate.

@JayHawkFanToo It's not that uncommon for a coach or two from the previous staff to be voluntarily retained by a new coach to help with the transition. Reggie Mitchell was retained by both Charlie Weis and David Beaty after he was brought in by Turner Gill.

personally me , just saying I would if I were a new Coach coming in I would for sure to make a point to sit down and talk with Tony 100% for sure. Get some input - -feed back from him see what his views are - his thoughts were and unless some major sticking point - -opposite views , ME I would hang on to this guy for sure. - If nothing else because of the in roads he has brought to us in the Louisiana football hot bed. Having Tony on the staff with the relationship - -connection he seems to have with some of these kids is hard to come by, Plus I feel if this team some how could start being some what more successful I have no doubt Tony would be making even a bigger impact in that area. I just think you really can't afford to just toss these kind of guys out. - - Then what do I know lol. -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@Texas-Hawk-10

Considering how bad the program has been, wouldn’t a clean start be better than a transition? But, if you are going to keep one member of the previous staff, Tony Hull would be the one.

Hull has a great relationship with the best / most talented players on the roster. Also, obviously he has built a decent pipeline in LA for KU to recruit too. I think the new coach should do everything in his power to keep him if Tony wants to stay here. My best guess is that he will move back South.

@JayHawkFanToo You don't retain everyone on staff and I didn't agree with keeping Bowen because he can't scheme for crap. Reggie Mitchell was put best recruiter while he was here and RB's was also one of the strongest position groups while he was here. He was worth retaining which two coaches did before he left for Arkansas.

Tony Hull is definitely worth trying to retain, but I think it will take promoting him to offensive coordinator to have any chance to retain him.

I wouldn't have any problem with that. -- aROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
