Nice win by the Royals Thursday night as they played the first MLB game ever in Omaha. 7-3 over Detroit.
ESPN carried the game, played in front of a full house.
As for the TV audience, well...seeing that it was up against the NBA Finals and the finish of Tiger Woods' round at the US Open, you can draw your own conclusions as to how much of America was tuned in. Oh well, a win's a win.

They are almost guaranteed to pick top 3. The Royals already have 46 losses. Only Baltimore (47) has more. The Marlins have the most losses in the NL and they only have 42. Detroit only has 40. Toronto and Seattle have 43.
It's hard to see the Royals trending up enough to make up much ground on anyone. Even making up three or four games will be a task because they already have so many losses "in the bank".
The pick is coming. No need to lose 110+.
High MLB draft picks are no slam dunks (to mix metaphors). Still waiting for the greatness that everybody predicted for Bubba Starling.
Anyway, it isn't like the NBA where one or two guys can turn a franchise around. .Too much of a crap shoot (to mix the metaphors even more).

I would really prefer we get the top pick. However many losses it takes to get there.
@nwhawkfan And if they are the kind of player that can turn a team around - they'll leave after about 3 years and turn around some other team.
@nwhawkfan I agree. If any draft is a crapshoot it's MLB. I coached a kid in Wisconsin (in soccer, not baseball!) who was drafted in the 42nd round by the Yankees and then got traded to the Cubs. He fought and clawed his way to the top for a 3 year MLB career. I looked up that draft and the Yankees drafted Eric Duncan in the 1st round than year who never made it to the majors!
And to further prove my point with the #5 overall pick in the 2003 draft, the Royals drafted future super flop Chris Lubanski!
Baseball draft is a crap shoot because you won't consistently see top notch pitching as an amateur, and pitchers are such a high injury risk.
So hitters are rarely a sure thing because they may get exploited by better pitching, and pitchers may not stay healthy.
