Listening to National syndicated station on the radio as i sat here this morning. They were talking about this is a big week, a lot is going to be decided chances are about College football as this is the Week that the SEC is going to decide about this seasons football for the league.

They mentioned that if the SEC decides to Cancel their Season and have no football, chances are more then not you will see others follow suit , saying seeing as how the SEC is the most lucritive in College football, probably the top of College football as a league - -saying if they say they are not playing look for others to fall in line. If the Patriot league where the virus isn't really that much of a problem - -at least as much as many other places has already Cancelled , and now the if it happens Sec Cancels - - it's not looking good, I felt this before keep your eye on the SEC - -I think when it is all said and done - - WERE NOT HAVING A SEASON PERIOD

@jayballer73 FCS schools and lower divisions do not profit off of athletics at all so it's not a big deal to those schools to cancel because it actually saves money. This is why many FCS programs take games against P5 schools because those checks help subsidize a big chunk of their athletics budget.

This is also why the P5 schools at this point are moving to conference only instead of cancellation. The TV deals with ESPN, CBS, and Fox are far too valuable to give up for P5 schools. Football will get postponed to the spring before it gets cancelled because of the amount of money involved from TV networks.

not sure where I heard this I think this morning there were 3 AD'S from P-5 schools frowning on Spring movement and saying they were highly doubtful about ball being played. It was on one of the spots casts I listen to in the morning, comes off Station 104.9 here in Topeka

Well starting to see some domino and think it's just a start I realize some of these are smaller conferences BUT the Big East is Canceling fall sports , I think I say the MEAC was either canceling or delaying , the MAC was delaying, it was scrolling across the bottom of the screen hard to keep up a couple other conferences I think 1 was Canceling the other delaying till October - -we knew this was coming

The NCAA has said it is going to have to have A LOT better returns/results as far as return dates with the virus they were Basketball on that - looks kinda grimm

Smaller schools generally lose money on football because the travel, scholarships, etc. are so expensive. Eliminating those expenses might save some winter and spring sports.

I will keep saying this. $$$ talks and FCS schools and lower will cancel because it's better financially for them too. P5 conferences will do whatever they have to do in order to have a season because of how much money is on the line for those schools. I think there could be a split on the G5 conferences. I could see the AAC and MWC pressing on with their seasons in a conference only format and the MWC taking back BYU for a year if they do, while C-USA, MAC, and Sun Belt probably cancel because I don't believe those schools make money on football.

If football can't happen this fall, I expect the conferences and TV networks to push college football into the spring because of the money involved on both ends with the NCAA not caring what happens with football since they don't make any money off of college football.

If anyone doubts how much money is at stake here for major conference football teams, Barry Alvarez gave an interview saying that even with a 10 game conference only schedule, Wisconsin Athletics is projected to lose between $60-70 million dollars this year. If football is cancelled altogether, losses would be over $100 million for Wisconsin. Alvarez said Wisconsin has an operating budget of about $140 million this year.

College football is going to happen this year at the Power 5 level for sure whether it's in the fall this year or next spring because a lot of schools simply can't afford to not play, even with limited capacity of fans.
