  I don’t see any weaknesses. Let’s say Preston clears- then you have a 4 with size with superior ball handling skills. With Doke. And Devonte’s best year, and Newman’s breakout, and Vick’s breakout. Maybe Svi’s breakout, too. Defensively, we’ll look alot better, and I don’t see us having any trouble scoring.

  @BShark Yea doesn’t sound great. He was in foul trouble all the time though. I don’t know if that is the league the play in or his style or what. But you don’t get to play aggressive defense when in foul trouble. I am confident he can’t have any worse of a jump shot than Withey or LL. So Bill knows how to work around that. Not that we even need him to make a jump shot with the perimeter we will have around him. Just finish layups. If LL could do that he would have been a 12 ppg player. The truth could be that Whitman didn’t fit with the W&M coach. Either personality-wise or schematically. If you look at their stats, they weren’t a balanced team and played a slow pace. So they basically played a two man game. And Jack, the most efficient scorer, only took the 5th most shots on the team. If LL is the standard for comparison, Jack could be a solid rotation piece. He scored more points in less minutes than Lucas. He also shot a better 2pt% and blocked just as many shots. He also had a better box plus minus than the other post who started and took 13 shots a game. He seems like an overall positive addition if you look at what we are asking him to do.

  @Statmachine Shoe companies would get in a world it trouble if they are found paying HS kids. At one time Nike used to pay people like Myron Piggie to run shady AAU teams and funnel money to athletes but a lot of that is now illegal and the shoe companies funnel money through guys like Wide World Wes and keep their distance. I have no doubt that players talk to agents but they would take a huge risk if they get money upfront; I am sure some do but probably not prevalent. Many of the top players play in more than one brand a Summer League and the allegiance to just one brand is fading. I have heard a number of top recruits state that a program’s brand contract is not a factor in selecting where to play; I believe there was one prospect that said he had a brand preference and he quickly backpedaled. I believe Wiggins and Jackson played for Nike teams and yet they ended up at KU.

  @JayHawkFanToo He’s been riding the gravy train. Let’s put it this way- he will never be mistaken for an “energy guy”. BUT, he was one hell of a coach back when he was at Tulsa…many moons ago.

  @DoubleDD I was there. Right under where his number was unveiled a few rows from the top. I couldn’t figure out why Allen filled up so early. Then out walked Wilt. He was a massive man.

  A piece of my childhood gone, Paul Pierce was my first ku basketball player love. Back when I was 7 or 8 and just getting into KU BB I thought he was going to be one of the greats. I’d say he did pretty darn well in his pro career. @Fightsongwriter That 97 team believe with Vaughn and Pierce or the 2003 team with Hinrich and Collison are easily the two best KU teams to not cut down the nets. Sadly I feel like we’ve had about 10 teams in the 20 plus years I’ve been watching that had the team to do so…

  @dylans Its not just a thing of Devonte needing to try harder. It’s an issue of focus, conditioning and working on specific aspects of his game so that he doesn’t have to be playing his best in order to play well. The NBA is a grind. You’re gonna play your best maybe 4 or 5 times during the entire season. But you have to be able to raise what average and poor mean to your game. Devonte has to raise his floor. His ceiling is NBA quality, but that’s a handful of games during the season. He either has to make sure the “floor” games are less bad, or that he can play average literally every other night so a coach will accept 5 great games, 5 duds and 70 very solid outings.

  @Crimsonorblue22 Shouldn’t be an issue then. Already got guys in boots A high ankle sprain is similar to a broken bone in terms of healing length as I recall. Seems like it’s caused by the bones slipping. Ouch. Glad it’s the off season.
