    • Thank You Bill Self

Thank you Head Coach Bill Self, not for getting KU hundreds of wins on your way to 600, but for changing the lives of so many young men across literally the whole world. Jamari Traylor was once homeless living in car, Bmac was stuck in a low income house hold sleeping in the same room as all of his siblings to stay warm. Cole Aldrich’s dad was laid off and not able to support his family anymore. Joel Embiid was just a tall dude from half way around the world trying to make a name for himself to get out poverty. Just a few examples of many while Self is a great coach, Congratulations 600.

    • A story about Frank

I wasn’t able to watch the first half of yesterdays contest. It was my wife’s birthday so we went out for lunch. With that I listened to the pregame and most of the first half via radio. During the pregame they interviewed Zenger our athletics director. He told a story about Frank. It was last year during the first 0-12 season in KU FB history, the Hawks were being handled by KSU late in the second half. Mason was still sitting out in the freezing drizzle lonesome to support his university and stayed til the final seconds ticked off the clock. Character, not that we have questioned Frank’s, I just thought it was neat story about our PG and his loyalty.

    • KJ Adams

Not sure if anyone has heard but after a long battle with cancer KJ lost him mom today. Prayers for the Adams family. Not really any thing else to say other than she raised a terrific young man.

With a loss tonight Scott Drew will have more losses in AFH than Bill Self.

    • RE: THE SKY WASN'T FALLING

In all honesty it’s a little ludicrous that we as fans (myself included at times) are giving these guys such a tough time. We just won our 20th game for the 29th season in a row (NCAA record). We are pretty much guaranteed another tournament birth for the 29th straight year (NCAA record). Even if we don’t win the conference I think we’ll be okay friends. Did I mention that Self has signed the 3rd best recruiting class and could add to it with Langford plus our transfers. Let’s all get to the field house Saturday and support the heck outta these guys. It will be a special day with the 08 team as well as game day in town.

    • Party like its 1938, Reviewing a KU win vs Texas

Kansas was at home for the final time this year celebrating senior day vs Texas. Texas started early scoring a TD on their play from scrimmage on a 75 pass. The defense put the clamps on after that as Senior Brandon Stewart got a pick 6 to start KU scoring. They Created 4 turnovers in the second quarter, but only lead to 10 points on the board, so KU held a 10-7 lead going into the locker room. The second half started bad as Stanley thru a pick just 3 plays in that lead to a short field and easy score for Texas to take the lead 14-10. We pretty much traded punts til the fourth quarter until a costly fumble bye Quv at mid field after a 19 yard catch that left texas again with a short field and a TD. It was was half way thru the 4th when the offense which had struggled all game and being down 21-10 finally showed up. Hiebert dived into the endzone on a 80 yard drive engineered by Stanley, then steven sims ran in a 2 point conversion to put KU back to with in 3, 21-18. The Kansas defense once again came up huge with 58 seconds left stopping Texas on a 4th and 5, and man this defense played unbelievable most of the day 6 turnovers, 4 sacks and 8 TFLs. The offense worked its magic as Stanley started the drive off with a 21 yard scrabble, aided by a Texas late hit. Matt Wyman tied the game with 7 seconds to go on a 35 yard FG. Then came overtime with Kansas winning the toss and going on defense first. A bright young freshman DB Mike Lee intercepted Texas to end their possession. With Kansas knowing they needed only 3 to win Senior RB Kinner held on to the ball and took us to the 3. A false start moved us back to the 8 but it didn’t matter nor did the attempt to ice Wyman bye the Texas staff, his kick sailed thru the up rights and WE BEAT TEXAS for the first time in 78 years. Just unbelievable guys, other than winning the orange bowl and NC in 08 idk if I have ever teared up after a game and seeing coach Beaty’s emotion after the game, it just moved me on how hard these guys are trying to win. A wise man once told me that sometimes the team that loses works a lot harder than the team that wins and I think that’s been the case for much of this year. I’m really speech less on how proud I am of these young men that flatout play their asses off every stinkin week, I love the fight they have, proud to be a KU Football fan. RCJH.

@DanR Yes, I don’t put the Mizzou game on him in the slightest. It goes back to the old verbiage of “you die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” . Good assessment of him and Juan, I think the coaches said these are our guys at this spot and we are riding their coat tails no matter what.

    • RE: Utah blowout

After cooling off here’s the deal with JD this season, he played good enough for us to win 7 games and make a bowl. I am 100% certain of that, the problem is he will be a guy that I remember as Tony Romo of college football. He buckled under pressure pretty much everytime unfortunately. He was terrible last season and this season at times I thought he was much better and passed that type of play. Today and against KSU he reverted back to his old self. It sucks twice as bad because a mediocre game today we easily win. It’s hard to swallow with his experience as well, we easily beat Cincinnati if the defense shows up at all. But that was the whole defense that had trouble. Not very often in football can you circle one player and say if he just does his job, we win. Today was that for Jalon Daniels. He was finally healthy to start last season and given the keys to this program. It’s disappointing but he did not move the needle forward at all IMO. Most of his big games were pre injury against inferior opponents at home. I wrote up the Jason Bean redemption post after we wrapped up the 2023 season. I hoped to do the same today for Jalon, but it didn’t work out. Very sad day for all parties involved. This maybe the most disappointing season in KU football history, right up there with last season and 2009.

    • RE: Haunted House

@approxinfinity the jury is still out on them, hopefully DP gets healthy and we continue to grow. Not sure I can handle another season of not competing in our conference. That was always the constant being a sports fan my whole life, the royal, chiefs and KU football stunk more often than not.

Still miles better than 5 years ago, but the last 2 seasons could’ve gone so differently.

See you all on the basketball side.

      Rock Ckalk.

That’s the problem for me, we have dumped hundreds of millions into this program. New stadium, new locker rooms and new indoor practice facility. All to win 5 games a season. I’m sorry that’s unacceptable and a losers mentality IMO. It’s something KSUCK would celebrate and hang a banner over. I don’t think Leipold should be fired yet but DK better have a U-Haul in his driveway before the end of year.

I have a new idea for a haunted house in the Lawrence area, no clowns, no ghosts, no skeletons just multiple projector streams KU football the last two years. That maybe the scariest thing I’ve ever thought of.

@rockchalkjayhawk Whoever takes over will be better. JD is so bad that it is impossible to be worse.

That was bad enough if it leaked JD had money on Utah, I wouldn’t question it.

10/27 187 yards 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions for a 6th year senior. That maybe the worst line I have ever seen out of a guy with his experience. One of the worst QB performances in KU history IMO and I watched thru the 90s and early 00s

@rockchalkjayhawk that’s the problem like I said the two deep was loaded with seniors this season. A 3 win season is probably inevitable for next season and I would be okay with that if we had made bowls the last few seasons like we should have.
