  I think the recipe for beating most teams is the same. Execution, getting the other team in foul trouble, win the rebounding battle, make shots and limit open looks. I agree with what Self says about how a team really doesn’t peak in this day, you play 40 games. 5 you play better than you are, 5 you play terrible and the other 30 is who you are.

  Quick question talking about bigs. Is it just me, or is Jackson pretty good at posting up? Is that just Self’s design, or his instincts or what? We always talked about trying to post Wiggins and Selden as big guards, but it rarely worked. What’s the difference now?

  @KUSTEVE I agree with you, I guess we are old school. Programs used to have traditional colors and those were the only ones used in their uniforms but now they all have unis with colors completely unrelated to the original colors. Many schools now have black uniforms, no doubt a copy of the original Oakland Raiders, hip-hop thug mentality…how in the world does KSU or Maryland, for example, end up with Black uniforms? I guess we should consider ourselves fortunate that KU/Adidas has not yet unveiled a black uniform.

  @justanotherfan You’re right there is no way they could keep it up all game, but neither could the other team. What I want to see is them running in 5 minute spurts. 5 to start and close each half. 10 minute breathers in between. But no let up in defensive pressure all game. In a perfect world…

  @BigBad I believe you missed my point. I indicated that he was a Kansas and KSU graduate and also an assistant under a Tex Winter and there is where he learned coaching; he is more of a Tex Winter tree than a Dean Smith tree. Also, you missed the part where I indicated that he was a place holder until a Roy Williams took over, this was pretty much a given. How many coaches do you think would want to take the position knowing they are keeping the seat warm for the person the really want? Guthridge was the perfect choice but unfortunately the schedule did not work as planned and Doherty had to be brought in to pinch hit after Larry Brown, George Karl and Eddie Foggler, all UNC alumni, refused the position since they understood Williams was the one they wanted and then proceeded to undermine, sabotage and finally forced him to resign.

But tomorrow they’re gonna be 36-1.” I don’t see anything wrong with that other than youthful, boastful enthusiasm giving the other team bulletin board material and not uncommon and no dirty play involved. My point was that he averages 2 fouls per game at 16 mpg, so it does no appear to be a fouling machine. I saw the foul and there is no question it looks pretty bad. The question was whether this type of play was typical or an abnormality and from what I have seen, together with his apparent academic excellence, appear to indicate the later, that’s all.
