This summer we drove across West Virginia. It was a beautiful drive. We went up a trail to the Seneca Rocks which was super cool. Missed the New River gorge bridge, but have done it before. Stayed in Elkins, a super cool college town in the mountains. Went to super crowded and super touristy Harpers Ferry, no where even to park so we just drove through. I just sometimes marvel that such an amazingly beautiful state can be one of our more dysfunctional states with huge social problems.

Yep. I posted a thread in the recruiting section and while you can't assure this will continue, it seems like a trait the staff is valuing lately... Not sure how much of it is luck. Like for example we pivoted to KJ (tough kid, total grinder) after losing KB to Baylor.

I think it should be the offensive focus. KU was only slightly above their season average today. Just don't have a post player that you can have get a bucket whenever you need it.

There will be colder games, but I still think 40% of shots being threes is a solid idea. Today was some insane percentage of the shots.

@BShark I also think threes help us offensive rebound. Dave just doesn't get great position then convert it to an easy put back. Braun, Wilson, Ochai all fly to the ball on long rebounds.

How good was Dave tonight? Well Mitch played 8 minutes and KU was -9 while Mitch was out there. Best game I've seen Dave play just in the sense of how under control he looked. Made a lot of good passes. Hopefully this continues..

I am still optimistic in that Dave can be a double-double player this year. He needs to slow down a bit, just play and not think too much while on the court.

@AsadZ If he can just focus on 10 boards and taking what the offense gives him, which could equate to 3 assists and/or 3 or 4 buckets on any given night, I would be thrilled. Just play in the flow and go hard after boards.

I'm hopeful for 10 boards per game and 30 wins.

Best he's played all year and maybe his best game of his career. He was a much more willing passer last night and generally his effort was doing good things.

I really enjoyed this game. Not sure if this was already said earlier, but over the years I've seen too many times more-talented KU teams get bullied into playing the opponent's style and pace. This was the first game in a while I really felt we were the aggressors and we were dictating tempo. It was totally fun to watch us have our way with a very good WVU team. They never seemed to find a rhythm or any kind of cohesive offensive scheme.

Yes, we were down at the half, but I never felt like we weren't going to win this game. And if you had told me before the game we would be up by 20+ on WVU in the waning minutes I would have said you were crazy. But there it was. And if it weren't for Mr. Game-Of-His-Life hitting a ridiculous 6 threes in the first half, we may have flirted with a 30-point bulge in the second half.

This goes back to conversations lately about the make-up of this team. They may not be the highest ranked guys we've ever had, but they all seem to play with a purpose and they are all individually looking to do something positive on the court when they are in the game whether it be scoring, blocks, steals, making the extra pass or some other hustle play. Things can change, of course, but I can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying watching these guys. To think it will only get better as the season progresses hits me right in the feels.

By the way, has anyone noticed not just his outside shot, but Braun's D?

WVU fans are mostly decent. Honestly pleasant interactions with them for the most part.
