KU's game Wednesday night against Harvard has been cancelled due to Covid and injury issues within the Harvard program. KU is currently looking to schedule a new opponent for Wednesday night.

Dec 27, 2021 02:40 AM #2

Fingers crossed. We're sideways now.

Dec 27, 2021 02:45 AM #3

Damn the guys are going to be rusty next time out. Inevitable

Dec 27, 2021 02:48 AM #4

@Texas-Hawk-10 dang Christmas break is bad!

Dec 27, 2021 02:55 AM #5

Me, my wife, and 2 kids came to KS today from Wyoming. We bought tickets to this game last month. Great seats behind the home bench. I really hope they find a replacement.

Dec 27, 2021 04:04 AM #6

@rockchalkwyo bummer! Hope it turns. At least they gave us some notice.

Dec 27, 2021 04:14 AM #7

Maybe Dayton is available I'd like another shot at them.

What about Vandy ? Their game in Honolulu yesterday with Stanford was called off due to COVID in the Cardinal program, and the Commodores' next game isn't until Jan. 4.

Otherwise KU may have to settle for a game against a D-II school, making it little more than a scrimmage.

Yeah the options probably aren't great but the guys need to play

Dec 27, 2021 01:23 PM #10

KUSports wrote an article mentioning Creighton and Drake as potential replacement candidates.

Dec 27, 2021 03:05 PM #11

@AsadZ I didn't see Drake mentioned and they wouldn't be an option at this point because they have a game scheduled for Tuesday night.

The most likely options seem to be either Creighton as you mentioned or Nebraska. If keeping the rescheduled game against a D1 opponent is a priority, Northern Iowa would be an option as well. My guess would be one of those three schools ends up being the opponent on Wednesday night and if not, then it'll likely be a D2 school.

Dec 27, 2021 04:02 PM #12

Many factors involved coming up. I suspect games will be cancelled because of travel issues, too.

I am hopeful omicron will vanish as quickly as it came in... but there are other variants still around, too. We still don't even know the length of immunity associated with having variants or vaccines. It is a total crap shoot if we even finish out the year. I think it is safe to say that most D1 will suffer from interruptions in schedules.

Very curious how the college football championship will come off. Imagine if a team or teams have to cancel and we have a winner based on "healthiest" program?

Self has the right approach. Keep an open mind and be ready to pounce on opportunities to make things as normal as can be expected under the circumstances.

Houston had to forfeit against Cincinnati, AAC apparently didn't update their Covid protocols, so Cincinnati could be another option for a quality opponent as well for Wednesday.

Whew that would be a sweet contest. OR what about even Houston - or was it Houston that caused the Cancellation ? - -Cinn would be a really good game.

Houston is not an option. My money would still be on Creighton being the replacement opponent due to proximity.

My wife is a UNR grad. She is absolutely loving this. I’m actually kind of nervous for the game. They play 2 7 footers and they have 2 guards that shoot the 3.

That's the rumor but it's not confirmed yet

Dec 27, 2021 10:02 PM #23

Nevada's sites are reporting it as well. Still wish it would've been Creighton though as Nevada isn't that good year. They're 5-4 overall with a NET ranking of 129 right now. That's better than Harvard, but still not good. I definitely would've liked ro have seen Creighton added to the schedule instead.

I don't give a shit who we play, the lakers ,wariors or 76'er, anything to to relieve my BB fix!!!!

And KU is looking for another game for Saturday now. We should see something in the next day or so

Dec 28, 2021 02:32 AM #32

This is going to be interesting. Don't know much about the Wolfpack, but this game doesn't look like an automatic "W"...at least compared to Harvard.

Their KenPom rating is #77, compared to 171 for the Crimson. That's better than every other team KU has played this season except Michigan State.

My guess is Texas Tech on Saturday since their Big 12 opener against OSU has been postponed because of Covid issues with OSU.

Nevada still isn't a good team.

Dec 28, 2021 02:51 AM #35

@Texas-Hawk-10 so do these count as big 12 games and we play 3 times? Dumb ?

If it's Tech, the Big 12 would just be rearranging the conference schedule or KU just ends up playing 3 games in a week at some point to make up the OSU game. Scheduling is going to be an absolute clusterf--- for conferences that aren't doing an automatic forfeit for Covid issues.

Hard to say. I saw a little of their 20-point win over Washington on a neutral court. Not that UW is any good this year, but I figure Nevada will give us a better run than Harvard.

Dec 28, 2021 03:00 AM #38

Also, KU's second Big 12 game currently scheduled for next Tuesday is against Oklahoma St. and hasn't been postponed yet, but I wouldn't be shocked if it does also.

Dec 28, 2021 03:01 AM #39

Once again, everybody's schedule is on an Etch-A-Sketch.

It's not hard to say, Nevada is a bad team. They're better than Harvard, but they're still a bad team with a couple of pretty bad losses and KU should still win by 20+ on Wednesday. Nevada is in the high 290's in scoring defense going against one of the best offenses in the country. KU will have a good shot at hanging 100 on the Wolfpack Wednesday.

My wife is a Nevada fan and makes me watch every game. There was some drama with a player and was kicked off of the team. Since then they’ve won 5 games and look decent. I am worried about this game

Dec 28, 2021 04:49 AM #42

I think Nevada beat us 20 years or go or so.

Dec 28, 2021 03:18 PM #43

Just read that Nevada was a last minute situation and the original plan was to play SFA again before SFA had Covid issues.

Dec 28, 2021 07:32 PM #44

@Texas-Hawk-10 I wouldnt mind seeing a rematch with SFA. Would be interesting.
