Oh how times have changed.

This site used to have amazing basketball ANALYSIS. I was a lurker for years, followed posters from the kusports site. After nearly every game there was real basketball ANALYSIS. Not just chat. Guys that worked at it.

Then things changed. Vicious, disgusting posters attacked those that attempted to create discussion. Nasty sniping. They attacked opinion and ANALYSIS with name calling and venom.

And look at what you have? Nothing but low level chat.

When I lurk I laugh. Everyone that had a strong opinion, or who had the guts to tackle tough topics, are gone.

It’s 2022 and kubuckets is nothing more than a collective circle jerk.

Bshark, mayjay, benshawk, crimsonorblue, kcmatt, texashawk — pieces of shit. The absolutely shitty ones. The ones that ruined this site. And not an ounce of real ANALYSIS between them. What do they have in common? The same as the shitty ones in society. Ultraleft, always offended, wanting to tell everyone what to think and do, and name callers when logic evades them — the disgusting and gutter parts of social media.

Agreed that those guys are missed. But the world is changing. Sports are changing. We are all changing. And I assume that those guys have their reasons for not hanging out with us? I don’t take it personally and don’t think it’s necessarily a shortcoming of the board or avoidable. I’d be happy if you guys want to recruit some new people? I’ve tried off and on.

Anyways I’m just going to turn this into an appreciation post. I love all of you who take time out of your life to contribute here in any form or fashion. I’ve posted almost 8k times. @approxinfinity 12k times AND runs the site. @BShark has 27k posts. @FarmerJayhawk is over 6k.

Most of you have been here a long time. I myself have been posting here longer than I have know my wife. Over 7 years now. You all are borderline family.

I do agree we used to have more ANALYSIS. I myself used to make long posts, but life has prevented me from that level of analysis where I take 2 hours of my day to make a post. I’d love to see more of it, but totally understand that everyone has life commitments. Myself included.

In the last two years I’ve gotten married, bought a house that needed a lot of TLC, gotten a huge promotion, picked up golf (my handicap is under bogey golf now) and published my very first article. My wife is in the midst of starting a business and now we are thinking about getting a puppy.

Life happens and we all have to balance our time. If this place is still around when I’m retired I promise to have more ANALYSIS posts.

I would like to do more as well. Writing is my day job right now so it’s hard to find the time and motivation to do long analysis things. Recruiting is also still slow relative to where it was pre-Covid and pre-portal so I don’t have the info dumps I used to for the most part.

It is nice to have a water cooler so to speak to shoot bull about KU sports though. This is a very well informed community so everyone will have a smart opinion or something that makes me think.

Hey, hope everyone is well. I've been on stealth mode for awhile, but I always read the posts. No, there are not pages of analysis like there was before, but there is still very good stuff. This is the best collection of KU fans on the intraweb. So, let's get to analyzing: We kind of crapped the bed a bit yesterday, but maybe we realize how important Remy is when we pontificate why we looked so crummy yesterday. Our offense simply has to start 2 point guards, or we end up looking like last year. JCL>Jalen. Put him in, coach...he's ready to play... Big Dave is in a state of mental confusion, so whatever they are doing to help him ain't working, folks. They need to make a mix tape of last year when he smoked it during conference, and make him watch it about 1,000 times... It really sucks we couldn't get our feet wet in conference at home against the Purple Toads, and now have to go on the road for our first 2 conference games, followed by a Clone invasion. Geez, the road gets much more difficult from here on out. I still think the ceiling is national championship. Let's win the conference, and beat Dook and Ratface for the title!

Dave looked like he was playing hurt. Noticed the lack of athletic ability on him which isn't that much to begin with but man he was laboring in any kind of execution. It's hard to understand that kid it really is.

Agree that not having Remy was a big thing yesterday. It also pointed out how valuable a healthy Bobby Pettiford would have been.

When we need career games from JCL and Mitch to win its not great in optics. However the bench scored 38 pts yesterday and stepped up where it had been lacking lately.

Personally I thought Self had a bad game. He ended that first half knowing who to play and what style and totally reverted back to predictable decisions.

@BeddieKU23 Good stuff. The addition of Jalen and the subtraction of Remy played a huge part in making our offense sputter. If Dave is hurting, then that could explain in part why he looked so bad yesterday. Coach got a negative reaction from the team at halftime- the dumping the ball into the post every possession 2nd half didn't work at all. I give Coach a C- yesterday. He's brilliant, and he is the best, but he was very stubborn. He turned a blow out into a game that was too close for comfort.

We have been good this year about getting out to fast starts. It's been a relief, actually, and refreshing to play well at the beginning of games. Yesterday we didn't have Remy, and we started slow. Is he the reason we've been able to start most games so well this year? Playing fast with intensity?

@Jethro yea he really isn’t leaning into our strengths of having nearly unlimited guard depth. Run in transition and pressure the ball. Let the threes fly and clear the lane for drivers.

This team is not riding Big Dave and Mitch to a Final Four.

I have never been afraid to post my opinions here. People both agree and disagree (usually disagree 😂) with me, but that's life isn't it? I think we usually avoid politics or political leanings, unless in the politics or general forums.

I am not so sure that you need to ban whoever it is, as long he tries to stay civil. Man, who would've thought @Texas-Hawk-10 to be a left leaning commie?

As I remember, (I’m old so memory is spotty) HEM always would throw up stats and attempts to analyze the team with numbers and percentages, and these numbers would bolster his arguments for and against certain KU players. There were defintely players he flat out dis-liked. Which made me think, well if coach Self likes these players and is giving them court time, then numbers can’t be telling the whole story of what certain players are doing on the court.

So I started re-watching games and would just keep my eyes on one or two players, and that’s when I really started to see things like positioning, defensive effort, ability the switch effectively, moving away from the ball in offense, communicating with teammates, setting screens, and boxing out. There really aren’t adequate stats for that.

So in a way, he helped me understand the game better. And understand that stats can be limiting.

It seemed obvious to me that Self didn't care a whit about whether we blew out GM. This looked more like a scrimmage.

There's no defensive combination good enough to take KU to a Final Four unless KU gets a favorable draw or has Covid help. This team is probably worse overall defensively than last season because Remy is the only new rotation player and he's a major downgrade from Garrett on that end of the floor. The overall improvement in the offense does negate some of the defensive struggles, but not when KU has an off day shooting.

I wish that this topic could be renamed Meer Chat Manor.

I used to be a frequent poster on this website. It was really fun.

Around mid 2018 some of the politics and race stuff started getting pretty intense, and I ended up in some pretty heated exchanges with other posters. I realized that I was becoming something I didn't want to be and took a step back for a while. Blocked some of the more problematic posters (the right decision for me personally).

I know I post less as a result of that. But it isn't just that. I also have had a lot of things in my life change (many of them positive, but some negative) that have taken my time away from this board. I wouldn't change that now.

I used to never miss a KU basketball game. Now I miss two or three a season easily. I haven't watched every game since probably the 2017-18 season. Life just kind of evolved along the way.

Was the politics stuff messy? Yeah. Did it take me away from the board? For a time, yes. But the bigger thing is that my life changed over that span of time just as much, maybe even more. I miss enough games these days that my analysis isn't very in depth anymore. I used to know all the recruits, all the players, all the matchups. Now I barely know anyone that isn't on KU's team, and don't even know every guy on the team that well. I used to know each guys high school highlights and could compare them easily. Now I see guys once they get into games at KU. It's just different now, but I am getting some more time freed up and will probably be on here more, though you won't see me posting about politics anytime soon.

I am a 63 old single father of two young children. We just watched Cobra Kai and I'm teaching them how to throw a front kick.

I can still do 10 consecutive hand stand pushups.

I'll die before I get old... I mean mold.
