TONIGHT'S PICKS

I'm willing to go 0-4 just so the teams I want to win will win, and the teams I want to lose will lose. I'm calling for both the 1 seeds to get run tonight. I have:

Arkansas over Zaga

Houston over Az

TTU over Dook

Nova over Mich

I'm going with the Hawg's quickness to overwhelm Zaga

Houston will knock off AZ. No late BS ref call can save them against the Coogs.

TTU will spank Dook.

Nova is just too disciplined for Michigan. They win by 12.

It would be insane to see all upsets. The Gonzaga/Arizona games especially.

I think Gonzaga wins, too much offense against Arkansas.

Tech wins so the world can cry over Coach K's last game.

Nova is the more disciplined team but Michigan has the big. They will probably try and take him away. Nova wins

Actually want Arizona to win if I'm projecting Elite 8/Final 4 matchups. Whatever keeps Houston/Nova out.

Zags I can't pick against here. Arkansas can win, but it will have to be UGLY. Razorbacks just don't have the firepower to stay in the game for 40. They'll have to get out to a big lead and then hope they can make enough shots to win. Don't see it.

Arizona I just can't get a feel for how good they actually are. Talent is there. When Mathurin decided he was finally going to take the game over they put TCU away in OT. Houston has experience though. Like a ton of it. I'll go with the talent and Zona.

Tech and Duke are quite the matchup. Lots and lots of 6'6 or taller guys on the court at one time. I think this one turns into a ref show. TTU gets in foul trouble early and Duke shoots free throws to victory. Just feels like K will get all the help he can get to make it to the FF. Tonight a quick whistle gives Duke a big advantage.

Nova vs. Michigan all comes down to if Nova can shoot their way past Michigan. And I think they do. Michigan has been inconsistent all season long. They lost by double digits 9 times this year. They are 5-10 against Quad 1 opponents. The story ends here. Nova by 10+

I like how you think. I'd be satisfied going 0-the remainder of the tournament as long as bloody Duke loses.

Change Final Four to Championship and that's how I feel about it. Perfect little storybook ending to a perfect little storybook career. :face_vomiting:

@tis4tim I really don't think it happens for them. Zags revenge in the EE.

The ref show works tonight especially for them because of the way TTU plays defense. You can just tell refs to call it tight. You don't have to ask them to call fouls on TTU and not Duke. The clashing style of the two is what lets you do this.

Vs. the Zags they don't get that luxury. Now if Arkansas wins tonight...

My original picks in my bracket fir tonight were Gonzaga, Tech, North Carolina, and Kentucky. I'm going to go ahead and stick with the three that are still alive along with Purdue tonight.

Tomorrow, I had Arizona, Villanova, Kansas, amd Wisconsin as my original picks so I'll keep the three that are still alive and go with ISU over Miami in tge other game.

2-0 so far. Come on, Tech and Coogs.

Mar 25, 2022 01:11 AM #9

you are rockin' @Jethro. Keep it rollin'

Mar 25, 2022 01:17 AM #10

Yes nice prediction.. !
Let’s hope TT will beat Dook…

Tonite so far another reminder that the tourney is all about who plays well at that particular moment. This is also why I personally don’t put too much stock in measuring a teams total success on how they do in the big Dance.
Now if each matchup, past say, the first weekend, was a best of 3 games, then the ostensibly better teams would prevail more often. But it’s one game, and you better play well plus have some luck on your side.

I am conflicted rooting against Arizona since I still despise Sampson.

Mar 25, 2022 02:51 AM #12

Can't stand how cocky AZ acted after their last game. 0 put his hand on tcu's cheerleaders chest. I guess he apologized to somebody in AD, but he stammered around about it and said he didn't really remember it.

Mar 25, 2022 03:04 AM #13

TT looks like their in shock.

Mar 25, 2022 03:11 AM #14

Only 2 points for each team from their bench players.

Mar 25, 2022 03:16 AM #15

Travel then a three for puke

Mar 25, 2022 03:32 AM #16

Call the foul

Mar 25, 2022 03:34 AM #17

Dang

Mar 25, 2022 04:58 AM #18

Attaboy, @Jethro !
Almost called em all!

Mar 25, 2022 08:36 AM #19

@rockchalkjayhawk didnt account for satanic forces at play.

Mar 25, 2022 09:38 AM #20

Not how I thought last night would go. Ugh

Mar 25, 2022 09:42 AM #21

Well, I end up 3-1, but I am bummed that Tech lost.

Pretty much makes it wash with Puke moving on

Mar 25, 2022 11:31 AM #23

This bodes well statistically at least...

Mar 25, 2022 01:59 PM #24

Things are setting up well for my dream final: KU vs Duke, and Self ascends to the top over the outgoing king and all pretenders to the throne.

Mar 25, 2022 02:15 PM #25

@mayjay I thought this same thing last night. How great would it be to send K out with an L in the championship?

Mar 25, 2022 02:50 PM #26

@mayjay, @benshawks08 - I think that's about the only silver lining I can find: that we still have a chance to stick the dagger in ourselves. Why let others have all the fun?

Mar 25, 2022 03:01 PM #27

Tonight I like Purdue -13, Providence +7, UNC +2.5, and Miami -3.

Mar 25, 2022 04:20 PM #28

I don't do point spreads because I don't want to get back to my old degenerate self. I have Purdew, Kansas, UCLA, and the Clones advancing.

I would of picked UCLA as a matter of fact in my brackets I had UCLA - -BUT their stud is hurt bad ankle - -gonna try and go we shall see how effective he is

I saw this today: Friday, 9:39 p.m. | CBS, March Madness Live: The health of Jaime Jaquez seems like less of a question mark than it did a few days ago -- all indications are that he'll play -- which makes me feel comfortable laying the two points with the Bruins. Their skill and experience in the backcourt is a definitive advantage, and I expect Mick Cronin to have some sort of answer to slow Brady Manek, who is on an all-time tear this tournament. Pick: UCLA -2
