@keefu I guess using @ is the best alternative for right now.

Yup yup. Html equivalent would be < br >< br > (minus the spaces). To get a bulleted list, try the third icon in the reply box, which converts an asterick into a bullet.

example of how to open new window with link --- thinking instead of using the markdown syntax for our story links, and do this which generates a new tab, it will be less disruptive of an experience going back and forth between this site and news sites.

EDIT : I don't think the html will work any more with latest board version.

Oct 24, 2013 02:40 AM #15

@approx: I like that idea. I'd rather click over on my tabs than have to hit back on the nav bar.

They are included as a installable plugin. Check out https://npmjs.org/package/nodebb-plugin-emoji-skype ↗

I must be something of a nerd because I enjoy having some insight into the development you guys are doing behind the scenes. I hope you will keep pulling back the curtain occasionally.

I haven't implemented emoticons from the emoji-cheat-sheet, though it should be fairly simple to do.

Right now, the only installable emoticon pack NodeBB has is nodebb-plugin-emoji-skype ↗.

Once I get more time (or if somebody else wants to take a crack at it), I can make another emoticon pack for those smilies mentioned earlier.

@julian sweet it worked!

Oct 26, 2013 11:03 PM #23

Glad to hear it! :)

:imp: My Halloween costume.

This doesn't work. What's the correct syntax? :-(

So is there a complete list of emotions? We really need a permanent Q&A page for all the things we can do. After site version 2 upgrade, maybe? :o

I like the embedded approach as you did it on the home page.. If only we could do that in our posts.. :-)

While i'm dreaming -- I'd like to embed video and audio (clap)

Nov 16, 2013 06:08 AM #38

Yeah man, well.. you can. I turned it on, and its sweet, but I turned it back off, because I dont know the security implications. Maybe I need to talk it over with the nodebb guys.

Nov 16, 2013 06:11 AM #39

The background image is trippy.. but a bit hard to read.

Nov 16, 2013 06:14 AM #40

Haha, yeah.. so.. I think i like it being full scale fieldhouse. but then I need to figure out all the places I need to make the foreground semi opaque, so you can still read stuff.

The next reply will test putting two dollar signs followed by a double quote:

$ $ "

without the spaces.

This is what messed up a thread the other day, I think.

Jan 17, 2014 01:06 PM #53

@ParisHawk Now testing "$$". Will this mess up too?

Jan 17, 2014 01:07 PM #54

@{posts.username} I did it again! What about two dollar signs?

Jan 17, 2014 01:08 PM #55

Now testing two dollar signs without a double quote: $$

Jan 17, 2014 01:09 PM #56

@ParisHawk Looks like two dollar signs become one.

How about one dollar sign followed by a quote?

Here goes: $"

Jan 17, 2014 01:10 PM #57

OK, so nobody ever put two dollar signs followed by a double quote -- Ya hear?
