Shaq the entertainment.

Bobby is dealing with another nagging issue, this time a hamstring. I really don't think you can expect much from him with the amount of time he continues to miss. Hasn't been a full go in practices yet. Will be interesting to see if he suits up in the scrimmage.

No idea what recruits are coming just yet. I did see KU is interested in getting 2024 Big John Bol & 2025 5 star Mikel Brown on campus from Sunrise. I'd imagine the list will expand as we get closer

Didn't include him since he released a Top 2 without KU in it recently

Super bummed out about Bobby. If he can stay healthy he will be a huge contributor.

KU is also officially out of the Bronny James sweepstakes, not that KU was going to sign him anyways, with Bronny signing an NIL deal with Nike.

Was just going to post. This is the new way Nike is going to pay players to end up at their schools.

That clearly is a booster situation, right? Thought that was still frowned upon.

Next to nothing has changed, deals are just sometimes public now.

ETA: More than anything some prices are going up, ESPECIALLY in football.

The NCAA has been neutered from doing anything about anything. All they can do is talk now

Oct 11, 2022 01:56 PM #11

Only a booster situation when it involves KU and adidas, don't you know? The NCAA's swan song to the good ol' days.

So how does this work? Since Nike also contracts with schools... isn't Nike a "booster?"

Can an athlete sign a NIL with Nike while going to an Adidas school?

Talk about stench!

Oct 12, 2022 02:33 PM #13

Didn't we have to admit Adidas was a booster in our allegation case?

Correct our previous AD did so in the De Sousa eligibility case as a hypothetical to getting his eligibility restored. It was later used in the NOA against KU

Oct 12, 2022 05:02 PM #15

Anyone know if late pm is on espn+ ?

Oct 12, 2022 05:19 PM #16

@BeddieKU23

So correct me if I'm wrong... Then isn't Nike a booster and we still have recruiting violations today, even with NIL acceptability?

Isn't the BIG NEWS from our case the pressure by NCAA to make a shoe company's status "booster?"

Oct 12, 2022 05:51 PM #17

@drgnslayr

Technically every school with a shoe sponsor is guilty of it (and has been for decades).

Yes, the NCAA wanted to prove Adidas was a booster to the KU program.

So much has changed since the original NOA.

Nike just announced signing HS players to NIL deals. Kids don't even have to pick a program to get paid now!

Nothing happens on the app. I thought we would see everything but when they introduced Shaq it went to music .......
I subscribed to ESPN+ just to be able to see this and now we don't get the show but they raised the price of the subscription 🤬

Oct 14, 2022 10:39 PM #24

Crapa. nada on ESPN+.

Oct 14, 2022 10:41 PM #25

@RockChalkinTexas

Yep... It's a lot more technical to slap it on a website/app versus tv. TV is built for live events streaming to big numbers. I don't expect anything showing up there... perhaps some highlights later. There should be some clips showing up on kusports.com later tonight or tomorrow.

Maybe next year there will exist ESPN++ (pay triple price) that will include Late Night again. Some kind of raping and blame it on gas prices.

I apologize... I'm not a happy camper after having years of watching Late Night.

Oct 14, 2022 10:50 PM #26

Now it only shows the top quarter of screen!
I'm with you @drgnslayr

Oct 14, 2022 10:57 PM #27

Horrible decision, hopefully there is enough backlash that they don't go app only again.

Oct 14, 2022 11:01 PM #28

I quit. Only can see top of heads and no way to enlarge screen. Sucks too because I love this tradition I've done for so many decades.

Oct 14, 2022 11:07 PM #29

Pro tip: you can AirPlay from a phone to a streaming stick

Oct 15, 2022 12:57 AM #39

@rockchalkjayhawk they stopped before that. Can't show that. I didn't see dick do much. I think he needs structure. Some sloppy stuff. Bigs didn't look to bad. Looks like kj has worked on his handles, some nice drives to basket. Hard to tell.

Oct 15, 2022 01:08 AM #40

OK, i admit i'm a bit suspicious by nature, but this has me really wondering if there's something going on behind the scenes.
Some kind of punishment? self imposed or not.
Not having official visitors on a huge recruiting night just doesn't feel right.
Talk me off the ledge! :)

Late Night's lack of official visitors by design, Kansas coach Bill Self says
“The reason why we didn’t have (official visitors) here is because we’ve just basically got our guys committed,” Self said Friday. “We made a conscious effort this year to bring in the ones that we really wanted early and not wait for this because there’s no guarantee they’ll last.”

Oct 17, 2022 09:58 PM #58

@rockchalkjayhawk

I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of the agreed upon early penalties that cannot be talked about since the case is still ongoing. They have always had visitors even if it was just a few.

Imagine not showing recruits your national championship banner etc and not having those same recruits see Shaq DJ the entertainment. Call me Flippin crazy because it doesn't make sense
