Do you think of possibility of ?
Dec 19, 2022 05:45 PM #1

Guys do you think there would be a possibility of the cancellation of Thursdays game with this winter storm coming in Wednesday Night through Thursday ? - -With them predicting really strong winds -with winds chills of -30 -to possible -- minus 35/40 --- - , multiple inches of snow and blizzard conditions?

You combine this with travel hazards and travel delays --was just wondering if there could be a cancelation so the kids could make or get earlier flights or travel so they could get home for the Christmas holidays to be with family & loved ones. - - Most of the kids leave right after game or just as soon as they can. - If this storm is sa bad as they calling, they may not be able to get out for flights or even driving. - Just curious

@jayballer67 Honestly they should I think.

They will probably get here wed. ahead of the storm and leave Fri after the storm. Maybe?

Dec 19, 2022 06:07 PM #4

They do have a game tomm in Cali so looks like they would travel Wednesday

Dec 19, 2022 06:51 PM #5

Just got to thinking, if it gets as bad as they are talking might be advisable to just cancel. - -I know Bobby P was talking about going home and how he was looking forward to it, if they were to play they MAY not be able to get out

Supposed to be 5 below at tip. Not worth it IMO.

Shoot, Most of us used to walk to campus in negative temps from our dorms. Suck it up, buttercups!

The issue is travel. Can Harvard safely get in and out of Lawrence to and from KC? Can KU's players safely get to KC to go home for Christmas? And most importantly in determining if the game gets played or not, can the fans safely get to and from AFH? The temperature itself isn't the issue, it's the other stuff the Artic front is bringing with it that's the issue. If it's whiteout conditions, does KU want people on the road that night for the game? And based on the timing of the temperatures, is there any ice accumulation as well? It's a situation where things are going to have to be monitored and decisions will have to be made for the safety of the players and fans and it may be necessary to call the game off.

Well I don't know who to believe anymore on this storm. - -Channel 13 - -or WIBW here in Topeka , the Weather guys just came on like 10 minutes ago and updated and the computer models are backing off the amount of snow some now- - now calling in general for anywhere from 1 -3 inches of snow in general for North Eastern Kansas.

If that turns out to be the case - -they MIGHT go ahead and try to play.

Yet right after I heard them say that , I turned to the National weather channel and they are still have us in a shade of blue on their map where will or they still predict we will get 3 -6 inches so who the hell knows?

Do we beleive local weather forcasters - -OR National ?

Down here in Houston, they are wrong every time. Yesterday was supposed to be from 4 to 10 inches of rain- i'll bet we didn't get an inch. I think they fib in order to get more viewership all the time.

I knew this guy some time back. He started school wanting to go into meteorology. - -He changed career real fast saying with that ,the slightest little change in pattern can make a huge difference

My friend at school has 2 tickets for the Harvard game. It's actually her son's tickets but his whole family is sick. I know they are really good seats, forgot the price but just a text away.

Dec 21, 2022 05:42 PM #17

Sect 5 row 23 seats 15 16 across from our bench. 350 for both

Dec 22, 2022 12:11 AM #18

you can buy a ticket in that section, one row back for 90. 350 is a bit steep according to stubhub.

Dec 22, 2022 02:11 AM #19

@wissox I don't know, just passing along info.

Dec 22, 2022 03:13 PM #20

yippee - - Minus 4 degrees with minus 32 degrees wind chill - -feels awesome lol

Dec 22, 2022 03:16 PM #21

Wow. Ticket prices are dropping as fast as the temps on stubhub... might wait until about 4:00 and see if I can get a last minute bargain. IF I feel like taking a 15 minute walk to the Fieldhouse...

Dec 22, 2022 05:50 PM #22

@DanR 15 minute walk? Go Man! Stubhub works best when you're that close by waiting to buy until you're ready to go in.

Another way of saying this is, "man I'm so jealous of someone living 15 a minute walk to AFH and he can go when prices are low, and he's not sure he's going?"

Dec 22, 2022 08:14 PM #23

Got my eye on a single seat section G row 5... it's $90 right now. I'll give it one more hour. The weather has improved a bit... sunny and negative 3.

Dec 22, 2022 08:17 PM #24

@DanR suns out here, wind is down. I know it's still dangerously cold. I'd go if I lived there.

Dec 22, 2022 08:18 PM #25

@DanR you do know it's a 6:00 game?😜

Dec 22, 2022 09:18 PM #26

Gates are open! Go go go

@FarmerJayhawk have they said anything about crowd? Was a tad late. Did hear interview with Fran🤮.

Dec 22, 2022 11:15 PM #29

@Crimsonorblue22 didn’t see. Was doing some packing and laundry before tip

Dec 22, 2022 11:34 PM #30

Not at all what I expected. Listless, and can't hit a three to save their souls.

Was thinking about last night when Eastern Illinois was a 31-point dog and still managed to beat Iowa on the road. Harvard's "only" +21 and playing us even so far.
