The Big Ten, AKA, the Big 14 but really will become the Big 16 in their quest to take over the entire world of NCAA Sports. When questioned about this the commissioner was quoted as saying that as the leading sports conference in America we really ought to have some of those trophies that anyone cares about, the football trophy currently being hogged by two states and the basketball trophy currently being hogged by, well, ahem, Kansas!

So a plan has been hatched. It started with two glamorous names from the west with the name California in them. The league's invitation to them was intended to draw in prestigious institutions with great traditions and huge endowments, and beautiful sun splashed campuses full of the future glamour tycoons of American entertainment. It would stretch up the coast to the money of Nike and on up to the Zags.

Looking east, the conference started years ago snatching up football power PSU, previously known as State Pen because of some truly awful stuff I shouldn't even be making light of. Touchdown Jesus will be watching over all sports related activities as ND is brought into the fold.

Looking south and east is the major prize. Once that part of the country is brought into the Big 100 true domination of NCAA sports will begin. Commissioner Bob was quoted tonight after league favorite Purdon't shockingly lost to someone from KU favorite Grady Dick's family (fairly dickinson, get it?) "Hey the fans of BIG country are getting restless. We have haven't won a NC in basketball since 2000. Thanks to OSU at least we won a title in 2014, but dadgummit I can get our teams into that football playoff but they keep proving they don't belong."

So today, the Big 14 has announced a takeover of the ACC, SEC, Big East, PacMan12, and whatever league fairy dickinson is in. Once again Commissioner Bob, "In order for our glorious and traditional league to win championships we will simply add all teams that have any chance of winning a trophy so that these prizes will reside right where they belong in America's heartland".

When asked about the proposed change Kansas coach Bill Self said "we can win that conference too, probably go undefeated in it so we're not worried".

It has crossed my mind that several of these conferences should rebrand.

The number in their name is, has been and will continue to be inaccurate given the current state.

Since the number will be continue to fluid (and inaccurate), a name without a number would withstand all the changes and be less confusing in the long run.

But what to name it.. ?

I believe the BiG12 actually bought the rights to the title Big14 and Big16 when they went to 12 originally. Agree that the BIG 10 is pretty silly now that they are gonna be at 16 and maybe lookin for more

Maybe after the Pac12 crumbles, we adopt the "Conference of Champions". That would be a bit cheeky.

@bskeet oh hell no. They can keep Walton too

@cragarhawk No, this is part of my sinister plan. I really enjoy Walton a lot and so I intend to make him the Dick Vitale of this super conference I'm planning!!
