Kevin Haskin: Waters' capacity to run evident to K-State during recruiting
Sep 10, 2014 01:00 AM #1

Musings at the mid-week:

â–  Kansas State quarterbacks keep the football so often it is a wonder QBRG is not as recognizable as EMAW.

■ For those who still need assistance, that’s Quarterback Run Game.

â–  Jake Waters never showed much in the run game while starring in junior college at Iowa Western.

â–  Yet the K-State coaches saw something in him that suggested Waters could be a dual threat.

■ “We’ll never take the quarterback run game out of our offense, or no one would recognize our offense,” co-offensive coordinator Dana Dimel told me at K-State’s media day.

@kubuckets I thought this was KU buckets?? Confused w/kstate crap!

I think I can explain what you are seeing here. I think @approxinfinity has set up a script that grabs headlines from the Journal-World KUSports site and Capital Journal HawkZone site. It's probably set up to key off of certain keywords or tags and create a post on our site automatically.

In this case Kevin Haskin often writes about KU and it probably thought it was getting a KU football article, but obviously this one focused on K-State.

"Waters capacity to find his own level" would have been better.

Also...

"Waters floods corners and safeties with passes."

"Smooth Waters runs deep."

Etc.

Yawn.

But my favorite headline will be: KSU 0-13 AFTER SNYDER RETIRES

@Crimsonorblue22 I think the reason this came up is that there's a script grabbing these headlines from the two local sites: Journal World's KUSports and Capital Journal's HawkZone.

These get automatically generated on the site whenever the script finds a headline that matches some criteria. For instance, it might be keying off Haskin's byline since he usually does KU articles.

@Crimsonorblue22 the feed does not filter, @bskeet is correct. I don't think they have a Jayhawk specific feed so it may be all or nothing.

At least we are not getting MU feeds.
