Kansas Athletics released ticket information for the upcoming “Celebrating 60 Years” event to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Allen Fieldhouse. The ceremony, which will have KU’s last four basketball coaches attending in Bill Self, Roy Williams, Larry Brown and Ted Owens — also will have ESPN’s Jay Bilas as an emcee. Williams Education Fund members can purchase their tickets up to a week earlier, with a limit of 10 tickets per account.

Does anyone find it odd that they got Jay Bilas to emcee this event?

No disrespect to Jay, who I think is one of the most competent and listenable analysts on ESPN.

But he's a Blue Devil, for godssake. He was a member of the team that handed us one of our most bitter losses -- in the 85-86 Final Four. Larry Brown will remember that well as will many fans over 40.

Couldn't we find a KU alumni like Kevin Harlan or another talent that didn't have a charged past?

@bskeet

Probably you have to get and ESPN personality to emcee the event in order for ESPN to broadcast it...which I assume (maybe incorrectly) will be on ESPN live.

@JayHawkFanToo Have you forgotten where Kansas is? Be lucky to get 10 seconds on Sportscenter.

@brooksmd

KU basketball gets more exposure on ESPN than just about any other program not named Kentucky. Look a their web site and you will see multiple daily stories on KU; I am not asking you to believe me, check it out for yourself.
