The KU Sports paywall

Well, all good things come to an end. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

The paywall has arrived at KUSports.com.

Who's gonna pony up the $50 a year? I'm undecided. (if they could only get that Upcoming Games algorithm fixed! ha).

Starting a go fund me?

I may start on a monthly basis because I do read their stories on a daily basis

Way back in the day i used to have the KC Star delivered to me out here on the Left Coast.
Lasted like a month. They'd send me like a week's worth at a time, and they just collected dust.
but that was before the digital days.

I enjoy the content that KU Sports provides for sure.

Supporting journalism and the arts is important, but i wont be in this case. I dont blame them for having a subscription wall. Def feels less nefarious and uncertain than ad revenue, but i doubt those go away.

We have nine conference home games to go. Thinking about winning the conference title is okay but conference tourney seeding with a vaunted bye is more attainable. With so many new teams it remains to be seen if we find some new struggle arenas and I do remember dreading going to Boulder every year for instance. Very interested in how we play tonight.

Zabudda, you’re lost in a sea of threads! :)

When almost all the good writers left I all but quit reading KUSports. I’ve been on that site about a half dozen times in the last few years. Keegan had quite the staff assembled, back in its heyday.

Ya without Jesse and Tom imo it has gone down hill. I used to get on their daily but I seldom find myself doing it nowadays

I stopped posting there after they got rid of the nicknames, and quit reading KUSports regularly after Matt left. The new guy isn't bad, but he doesn't have the same connection to KU that Matt Tait has.

Right now, Matt has a deal to subscribe to the premium section of his website for only $12 for a year if anyone isn't subscribed there and is interested.

So where does everybody read previews, notes, game stories … or do you? Any other sites?

The only thing I go on KUsports for is the box score and they always hide those so I give up.

You can find the box scores there? I gave up. Thought they stopped.

I still go there because they do put stories on all KU sports, football, soccer, volleyball etc.

I concur that quality of articles has dropped but I get to receive information.

For this reason, I have started a monthly trial and will see how it goes.
