Feel free to chime in if you want. We could all use a distraction i'm sure!

--Just got the new Jack Reacher book. The books have gone down hill since Lee Child stopped writing them, but i plan on enjoying it nonetheless.

-- Found a really good brownie at Sprouts market for a good price. $2.32. And it was huge! (it's the little things in life sometimes)

-- Oh, and i'm grateful that i just got some roofing work done days before it started raining.

  • I put in a new coat rack next to the front door that looks really nice.
  • I have a report coming out at work that I'm really excited about.
  • There's been some really good shows I've been watching lately. I'm a big history dork, so I thought American Primeval was really good.

@MoonwalkMafia Good to have another history dork! What kind of history? I recently watched a great documentary about the influence of the Danelaw in medieval Britain.

@Jhawk69 I studied Japanese and US history at KU. I basically got a degree in the history of World War 2. But I find pretty much anything from about 1840 on pretty interesting. The older I've gotten, the more I've been interested in political history. I was always into the military history side of WW2, but more recently I've started to enjoy more of what led up to it.

@MoonwalkMafia Did you ever have professor Adrian Lewis?

7) Friends who ghosted me

---------------- going to the bread box and only one slice of bread
going to the fridge and just having enough milk to cover bottom of container
letting the dog out every foour hours
---------- -- - ---having my cat scratch on my bedroom door at 5;30 in the morning to be fed

Feb 02, 2025 02:49 AM #8

I'm liking the fact that I got to see my grandkids today so i wasn't able to watch, was gonna watch but accidentally saw the score on a Badger game chat.

Feb 02, 2025 03:33 AM #13

@Jhawk69 Yes I did! He was my advisor!

Feb 02, 2025 03:42 AM #14

@MoonwalkMafia He was a great professor! He really understood how to pace his lessons and get his students to think and engage with the material.

Anyways, lets talk Japanese history. What do you make of the influence of Japanese immigration on Brazilian society?

Feb 02, 2025 10:59 AM #15

@wissox

Watch til half then turn it off for sanity purposes. There isn't a single second of the 2nd half that's going to please you

Feb 02, 2025 04:35 PM #16

@Jhawk69 I don't really know a lot about it, but from I could find it's interesting that they imparted a bunch of agricultural techniques since Japan is one of the most inefficient agricultural producers in the world.

I watched until half. Felt optimistic. Had to then go to my kiddo's basketball game. When returning I caught a social media post hating on the Jayhawks so I was warned about watching the second half.

I fast-forwarded through the second half... watching the collapse in fast-forward mode. It helped relieve my anxiety knowing I didn't waste the extra 45 minutes watching it happen at regular speed!

Feb 02, 2025 05:35 PM #18

Also, I started watching Resident Alien for some comic relief.

Fun show. Easy on the brain.

I watched the game with my daughter. Five minutes into the second half she looked at me with a sour face and said “Whatever happened to punch them in the face, knock them down and then foot on the neck until it’s over.” Love that kid.

Just finished this myself. A good series!

Feb 03, 2025 10:19 PM #24

I'm gonna have to check out American Primeval. Always looking for a new show (and of course loved Deadwood). Swearengen, (insert profanity here)!

Feb 03, 2025 10:19 PM #25

@nuleafjhawk ha! No, she 16. But that was my mantra for the ultimate teams I captained years ago. She’s heard it a lot.

Feb 04, 2025 02:35 AM #26

@HoraceZontal I loved Ol Roy. I hated him for 5 years after he left. But I got over it.

KU bb and fb are my favorite but watching my 3 yr gson playing bb is pretty fun too! When he plays D he takes them all the way to the floor, made a 5 yr old gal go crying to her mom. I've never laughed so hard!
