Cain with a 2 bagger & Hos takes walk.. Butler is 333 v this guy career. Let's get it on men !!! Time to tie it up. Yeeeaaah!!!
@globaljaybird Alright Billy. Damn these swing on first pitch outs. Well we in a new ballgame. :wine_glass:
@globaljaybird Sorry I'm late. Wife came home just before start and spent some quality time discussing her day. She knew I wanted to watch the game so I think she gave me the abbreviated version. lol
Come on Hunter it wasn't even close.
Rookie's impressive, just think what he will do!
@Crimsonorblue22 Well you know Kerry Wood of the Cubs had a great fast ball as a rookie but his arm didn't last long. Hope that doesn't happen to V. He could have a great career if the arm stays healthy.
@Crimsonorblue22 Don't know if you're old enough to remember, but back in the day the Yankees had a flamethrower named Ryne Duren. Not only could he bring the heat but his vision was so bad his glasses were like the bottom of Coke bottles. I was always amazed that anybody stayed in the box when he threw.
Good ol Royal baseball..
@Crimsonorblue22 Wow great play by Hosie.
@Crimsonorblue22 Wood in his 5th start of his rookie year threw a 1 hit shutout against Houston and recorded 20 SO's in the process. The one hit could have easily been called an error.
Looks like V took that grounder on the fingers. Hope he's ok.
Where's global, glued in chair again?
Speaking of errors. I guess tonite's official scorer didn't watch last night's game as Moose got charged for an error on a much more difficult play last night than Escobar's first inning grounder to short tonite.
@Crimsonorblue22 Been wondering the same. He started things off and disappeared. You know us ol folks, he may have dozed off.
Sorry, but Cain's got to catch that ball.
@wissoxfan83 He's got the speed he could've been back there and facing in for the catch.
Brandon Belt is a great baseball name.
Sandivol pretty much proves you don't have to be an athlete to play baseball. Jmo
@globaljaybird Been there done that. Hard to pick just one.
@globaljaybird said:
@globaljaybird pretty sure your buddy wouldn't want you to be w/out a friend!!! I think I will try to get a golden in the summer. To lonely!
@Crimsonorblue22 I think your opinion is wrong! I would say you don't have to appear to be in peak physical condition to play baseball!
I didn't go with my wife and son when they got Mikey. When I saw him I wondered why they picked him when there was a litter of Goldens to pick from. But wouldn't trade him for nothing.
@wissoxfan83 isn't that what you just said? Don't have to be..... To play baseball?
@Crimsonorblue22 It sounds like you were saying he's not an athlete since he's rather large. I'm saying, he's athletic even though it may not appear that way. He's a tremendous player, at least in October.
Left to right, our doxie Precious (16 yrs old), Mylee the shiz zou we adopted from our son who moved to Australia, Mikey laying down, and Sasha our youngest son's pit.
@Crimsonorblue22 Hey your Marlins buddy is there again.
@wissoxfan83 he can hit the ball, just not athletic in my eyes.
physically strong, fit, and active.

@Crimsonorblue22 Mikey will be 10 in January. We think he's about half lab and half Catahoula. Cost us $150 to get him out of the shelter and we've paid enough for 2 acl surgeries and rehab....well won't go into that. Some people might think we're crazy.
Too funny about Marlin;'s fan. I think I would've given in for the private suite for each game.
@brooksmd In a sea of blue at the World Series, a speck of orange popped out of the rabid Royals crowd behind home plate, in plain view of the TV cameras.
On the man’s shirt: “Marlins.”
The sight so rattled the home team that stadium officials asked him to leave — or at least cover up with a Kansas City Royals shirt.
“Marlins Man” — aka 58-year-old Miami lawyer Laurence Leavy —stayed put in Marlins colors Tuesday night in Kansas City.
A fan stood alone as others cleared their seats follow Tuesday's Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants Game 1 of the World Series at Kauffman Stadium on Oct. 20, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri. The Giants beat the Royals 7-1. | SHANE KEYSER/The Kansas City Star

“The owner of the Royals was extremely upset that I was there,” Leavy said.
They offered him a private suite if he would move.
They tried enticing him with free World Series goodies if he would get rid of the orange jersey.
No way, Marlins Man said.
He paid $8,000 for that primo seat and he wasn’t about to give it up. So every time the center field camera was used, which was pretty much every single pitch, the orange-clad Leavy was in the frame for the entire country to see.
It wasn’t the first time that Leavy as stuck out in a crowd.
Leavy has been buying the best seats to major sporting events for years. By his count, he’s gone to 27 Super Bowls, more than 200 NBA playoff games, and at least 85 World Series games, not to mention an unknown number of Triple Crown horse races.
He’s been a Marlins season-ticket holder since the team’s first year in 1993, is a rabid Florida State fan (he was on hand for the FSU-Notre Dame showdown in Tallahassee on Saturday before heading off to Kansas City), owns more than 100 thoroughbreds, and rarely misses a Miami Heat or Dolphins game.
“I never had any kids, nor have any wife,” Leavy said when reached by phone Wednesday. “You don’t have to pay for a wife and kids, so you have money in the bank.”
To splurge on sporting events.
And nobody does it like Leavy, who attended North Miami Beach High and practices workers’ compensation law.
In May, for example, Leavy was in San Diego watching the Marlins when pitching ace Jose Fernandez suffered his season-ending arm injury, followed the team up to Los Angeles to watch them play the Dodgers, and thus began a sports-crazed odyssey, criss-crossing the country to catch games in 16 cities in 18 days.
As a guest of thoroughbred racing magnate Frank Stronach, he sat with actress Bo Derek before the Preakness at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland until it was time for her to bark out orders. “I kept her company until she said ‘riders up!’” Leavy said.
The next day he flew to Indianapolis to catch Heat-Pacers, followed by Thunder-Spurs in San Antonio the day after that, back to Indianapolis for Heat-Pacers...and on and on it went.
“It was the coolest thing,” he said.
Leavy said he purchases most of his top-dollar tickets on StubHub.
Sometimes, ticket brokers call him if they have great seats to major events.
He would not reveal an amount on how much he spends annually on plane tickets and seats to sporting events, only to say “it’s a lot of money.”
“I’ve never added it up,” he said.
Somehow, Leavy said he is still able to run his law practice, which he does electronically during the day when he’s on the road. He has offices in Davie, Fla., and in Jacksonville.
For years, Leavy attended sporting events largely unnoticed.
“Nobody noticed me when I wore a Cowboys shirt,” he said. “Nobody noticed me when I wore a Heat jersey.”
But when the Marlins changed their uniform colors in 2012, going from a mostly black and teal to orange and black, everything changed. Leavy suddenly became recognizable.
Last year, he was spotted wearing his Orange Marlins apparel in San Francisco for the World Series. The following day he drove out to the Golden Gate Bridge to take some pictures of the landmark when he was spotted by a couple of park rangers, who drove up in a truck to shoo him away from a dangerous cliff.
“One of the guys goes, ‘Aren’t you the guy we’ve been watching on TV behind home plate?’ ” Leavy recalled. “And the other guy says, ‘He’s the Marlins Man!’ ”
The next thing Leavy knew, the park rangers were asking him to have selfies taken with him with the Golden Gate Bridge as the backdrop.
From that day forward, Leavy became known as the Marlins Man, which is the name found on the back of the six orange Marlins jerseys he owns. He now has his own Twitter handle – @Marlins_Man – and picked up close to 1,000 new followers after Tuesday’s game alone.
Leavy said that after Tuesday’s game, he was contacted by fans around the world, which kept him up all night.
“I’ve been getting tweets from Japan, from Mexico and France,” he Leavy said he isn’t doing it for the attention.
“I didn’t plan any of this,” he said. “I’m not selling anything. I’ve been doing this — going to sporting events — pretty much non-stop since 1999. I dated a girl for nine years who hated sports and when that ended, I started going everywhere.”
Leavy said he will be on hand — sitting in the same seat with his Marlins jersey — for Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday and possible Games 6 and 7, whether the Royals want him there or not.

@Crimsonorblue22 That explains it. With his money if he'd wanted a private box or Royals stuff he'd buy it. :wine_glass:
We've made it to the bottom of the 6th in a tied game and the best relievers in baseball ready to show their stuff. I'm liking this.
@wissoxfan83 this pitchers pretty darn big too.
@Crimsonorblue22 Butler can waitthis guy out-he's way too pumped.
@globaljaybird +10
Come on Billy put your name in the HR col......okay a single works too.
I'm beginning to think Billy is waiting for game 6 where he can hit the walk-off HR.
Can anyone tell me the purpose of gore carrying his gloves? And Gordon is cold!!! He's due, for sure
@Crimsonorblue22 Some speedsters do that for headfirst slides to keep from possibly spraining or breaking fingers.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yost shoulda had him sac with the right-hander pitching him away. Guy on third is 33% more likely to score than a guy on second, regardles of the # of outs. Make a note.
@globaljaybird Getting a busy signal trying to call the dugout.
WHOOP-ASS!!!
DOUBLE WHOOP-ASS!!!
Somebody remind Strictland he's a rookie and to keep his mouth shut.
@Crimsonorblue22 Sure ya can.
Somebody tell me who the odd man out is in the batting order when they go to SF.
YES,!!
It keeps getting better!!!!
Go Royals
I like game 2 better than 1!
@globaljaybird Thanks. Nothing like speed in CF.
@JayhawkRock78 so excited, call my son and yell into the phone at him!!! We are weird!!! That's how we do KU games too!
@globaljaybird they don't do dh when we go there though?
@Crimsonorblue22 Not in the NL cities.
@globaljaybird pitchers hit?
@Crimsonorblue22 Is possible to play Butler or Dyson in the outfield for a different bat than Aoke. He's an opposite field hitter with almost no power, but Butler would be a step down on defensive outfield speed. Dyson might get the go. He's fast as greased lightening.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes.
@globaljaybird I like dyson!!
@globaljaybird butler in the of????😱
Here's our shirts my sons and I ordered!!
Anybody...Does that Chevy commercial remove any chance for Mo'ne to get an athletic scholarship?
@Crimsonorblue22 I remember hearing after the LLWS that she had several endorsement opportunities but she and her family were concerned about how it would affect scholarship elgibility.
@globaljaybird You got a fresh CB poured and a cigar ready to light? Think I'm going with apple pie moonshine tonight for the win. :cocktail:
@brooksmd
My gut reaction is she could have deferred compensation through her parents or an escrow account to preserve her amateur status as a High school athlete but made so much money on this that NCAA money is a joke. Even as little as 100k for the commercial would pay for a college degree while she makes the rounds in a kind of AAA. And I bet she could endorse a ton of baseball/softball gear for youngsters.
@JayhawkRock78 Yeah but she said her desire is to play college BB and she named a school but don't remember.
WHIFF again!!
Whiff # 2.
I love these guys!!
@Crimsonorblue22 Whiff again !!
WHIFF WHIFF TL WHIFF
Alright a 5 game series. Take 2 in Frisco and wrap it up with game 6 at home.
Time for some of Jr Johnson's finest. Yee haw!!!
@globaljaybird lol Looks to me like they won't be late night games. According to my tivo same time.
You guys have one for me!!! I have a wedding sat pm😡 I hear they will have screens set up😊 it's in Lawrence, reception at the oread. Might have to leave early. I yell a lot!!! Enjoy, and thanks for a fun time tonight!!!
I'm just guessing. Maybe NCAA rules don't go back before high school?
I think she is 13, and Olympics are 15 or 16 and older? There is a lot of possibilities here. She is special though. I just don't think her arm will hold up much longer.
@JayhawkRock78 she's good at everything!!! Google it, there was a story out on it. Let us know.
@Crimsonorblue22 Will do, enjoy the hitchup & drive safe. We'll stay up late if we have to-better late than never.
@Crimsonorblue22 No thanks. Took me a couple of days to recover the last time I had some for you.
@JayhawkRock78 Well I think her baseball days are over anyway and she is supposed to be a pretty basketball player.
@globaljaybird I'll scratch you in as the DH for @Crimsonorblue22. How's that?
@Crimsonorblue22 I meant to get her SI issue and never did.
Well I gotta gather up the kids for a walk and see if the stars are shining tonite. If ya'll are gone when I get back we'll catch ya later.
Have a nice walk. It's been beautiful over here in Houston but no doubt you are seeing many many more stars. I am overdue taking my kids somewhere they can see the Milky Way making a beautiful streak across the night sky among several thousand points of light.
Solar eclipse tmrw, 4:30 pm. Don't look at it!!
Do you guys think it would be appropriate to wear my lucky Royals shirt to wedding? Jk
@brooksmd
My avatar,is my kids in Alaska with gramps when they were very young
They didn't see the night sky because the night was so short that July visit. Another trip to Yosemite gave them a good view at high altitude and zero light pollution but they were in grade school and it didn't make an impression.
I feel bad because light pollution has robbed most people in NA and developed countries of the night show God put up nightly for free for eons. We have a telescope we rarely use but at least I've been able to show them the rings around Saturn. That isn't as impressive as the night sky where you can really see most the stars. I owe them that and need to get it done soon.
@Crimsonorblue22
I am an old fart and have in clue-better go with advice of a young stud or probably better yet a mature woman.
@JayhawkRock78 hey thanks, I was kidding, but if we are behind, I will high tail it out and put it on!
@JayhawkRock78 Well my kids weren't looking for stars on their walk. Scroll up to my family photo. They were more interested in looking for a place to pee and poo. lol I spent 5.5 years at Eielson AFB, AK near Fairbanks and loved every moment. Winter time is the best for sky viewing as the northern lights are most impressive. Now we live in Bush, LA, which is about 55 miles north of Nawlins, half way between Covington and Bogalusa. At about 140 above sea level we can claim to be in high country. lol We live in what is called a country community where lots are at least 2 acres, no street lights and plenty of trees to block what little light may come from neighbors. One night my youngest son and I got home from one of his football games pretty late, there was no moon, sky was totally clear. He looked up and said "wow dad, look at all the stars." It was amazing. Well I'm done for the night. Later all.
@globaljaybird No, in 6. Even though I just had my annual physical/finger wave, 6 would be easier on the ol ticker.
Sorry I dropped out of the discussion. I did watch the game in amazement and disgust (I'm pulling for the Royals, but not in a diehard type of way) at SF manager Bochy for using 5 pitchers in one inning. He took out Peavy after two baserunners, next guy got his batter out and he's gone! No one else could get anyone out. Bochy blew that game in my opinion.
That was strange indeed. I will admit I am not a big baseball fan so I am not up to speed with all the rules and the only explanation we could come up last night is that maybe there is a pitching order and he wanted to get to a certain pitcher??? but I don't believe there is such a rule so all those changes are still a mystery to me.
Good guys won, that;s all that matters.
@wissoxfan83 @JayHawkFanToo I didn't follow the changes that close to see who pitched to who. But there is a lot of strategy in using relievers. Number one is it is usually better for a lefty to throw to left handed hitters and righty to a right handed hitters because the ball is naturally going away from the hitter and not coming into him. That's why some managers will go with a batting order more loaded with right handed hitters if the opposing starter is a lefty or the opposite if the starter is a righty. Next they look at how that pitcher has done against the hitter. I've seen managers change pitchers without throwing a pitch. Example. Hitter due up is a lefty and pitcher is a righty. Manager will call for a lefty to the mound. Well then the opposing manager goes to a righty pinch hitter. Once that batting change is announced that hitter is locked in and the other manager can call for a righty to the mound. Usually the strategy works. Of course it's always fun when that strategy is used and your team still beats it.
@wissoxfan83 @JayHawkFanToo I went back and looked at the Royals 6th. Interesting stat was shown prior to start of their at bat. After 4 innings Peavy's ERA jumps from 2.91 to 4.81 and opposing hitters BA goes from .228 to .299 which would explain why Peavy was yanked after he gave up a single to Cain and a walk to Hosie with Butler up who hit him hard in the 1st. Machi a RH to pitch to Butler a RH and Butler beat the %'s with a single. Bochy brought in Lopez a LH to face Gordon a LH who flied out. % won on that one. Bochy then brought in Strickland a RH to face Perez a RH who beat the % with a double scoring Hosie and Gore who was running for Butler. Then Infante a RH homered off Strickland and beat the % again. When Strickland blew up Bochy brought in Affeldt a LH to face Moose a LH who singled and beat the %. The Escobar hit into a dp and inning over. So Bochy was playing the %'s and lost. Most of the time it works. With the game tied at the start of the Royals 6th and the Royals got the first 2 on, and the strength of the Royals bullpen a manager has to do what he has to do to keep damage to a minimum. It just didn't work this time.
@brooksmd Believe me Brooksy, I know all the nuances of it. And it's stupid. For one, if that game goes extra innings, well, the manager has used up a bunch of arms. And the left v. righty thing is a little overblown to me. If a pitcher blows away a batter and then the manager takes him out after only one batter, well, it's dumb.
@wissoxfan83 Actually it was Lopez the 3rd pitcher who got Gordon to fly out to left for the first out. He didn't exactly blow him away.
@globaljaybird new kid?
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah but is a furry one with a very pretty face. Rescued him last night. Is a real sweetheart. Poor guy is skin & bones at about 40-45# & extremely lovable so Mom's broken heart fell in love instinctively. He tires quickly from under nourishment & should weigh around 60-65#. May have likely have separation issues so can't leave him alone yet. Got him a new kennel on the way home but he slept right beside me all night & so far no accidents in the house. Had a moderate breakfast & just checked on some squirrels out back cracking nuts. Is bright, curious, gentle & quiet, but loves to run & play. Have not heard him bark yet. Is about one year old so the challenge with any young one is teaching him to understand the time & place for all of the above & giving them enough exercise to stay under control.. Maybe this will keep me younger a little longer too. After 3 mo I still have just been lost without my other friend. Thanks for noticing.
@globaljaybird ahhhh what a lucky boy to have your home for his new home!! Send a pic of him sometime! He, for sure, will put a spring in your step!!! Soooo happy for you guys!
@globaljaybird Yeah we need a full pic of the new kid on the block. Sounds and looks like you got a winner and won't take him long to get into the swing of things. And I'll bet he'll thank you over and over for his new home.
@Crimsonorblue22 @brooksmd Thanks a lot guys. Will get some new pics today. He has been someone's pet & has fair basic training. I am going to get him into doggie school asap. I believe he was sheltered because of not having enough exercise & destroying too much property. He likes to rough house also but that's what Boxers do. They were orig bred from German Bullenbisser Bulldogs & Mastiffs for hunting in the 18th century & are an extremely rambunctious, high energy hunting breed. Not an apartment pet at all. The back yard between my house & first cross fence is all 6 ft high as Woody used to clear the five ft cattle gates chasing critters & he really didn't care how large or small. He was absolutely fearless & went after horses dozens of times. Rest of the pasture is hinged horse fence with one strand of barb about 4ft. Maybe for the first year or so we will probably have to go out with him every time to whizz. We raised boxers for over 14 yrs so we're well aware of their characteristics, good & bad. They thrive on play & love & can be difficult & stubborn sometimes, but once they are devoted to you, are totally dedicated to your family. Believe it or not, they are extremely gentle with children & even when they play bite they keep their lips & jowls over their teeth. They are a true pack animal & protect with their lives if necessary. The key is getting them to relinquish dominance to a human pack leader.
@globaljaybird My uncle when he was still living with grandma and grandpa on the farm in Winchester, KS, had a white boxer and she loved playing with all us grandkids. You ever consider a buried fence to keep the kids within the confines of your property? I did one for Mikey and it covers about 1.5 of our 2.5 acres. Gives him all the backyard, the sides and about half the front yard. Once he learned it we can go months where he doesn't wear the collar.
@brooksmd Is good advice. Already have the big fence which I can charge up & also keeps coyotes out. The neighbor that found & returned Woody a couple years back, had two Yorkies snatched off her back deck on two different occasions. She even hired a fella to come out & eliminate a few, but there are too many for that to be very successful. Gotta be very careful of where your rounds go as the houses are about 1/4 mi apart & there is a ton of livestock. The boarding stable has at least 50-60 head that cover about 120 acres right across the street. Hawks & Owls will also take a small dog in a heartbeat. We've no shortage of wildlife for sure. Was proud of the wife when she took out a small bull snake about 10 days ago. We won't harm them unless they get too close to a door or in the garage as they eat a lot of mice. But when they get that close they gotta go. I've had several large blacksnakes out here for years & one has kept the birds out of the horse barn all summer. Don't see them often, but know they're still there & eating well.
