@JayHawkFanToo You feel the need to correct everyone. Sure I screwed up thinking he came to KU. I thanked you for that. But saying "he was a really good player" caused you to correct me. Saying he was really good is no different than saying he was a 3 time all american, NPOY, etc. I didn't spread misinformation, I didn't shrink the knowledge base. I didn't confine the discussion to my opinion. I said he was really good! And you had a problem with that.
Nice article on Josh, our rent a player. Hope there's not a Ben Simmons style documentary about him in a year in which he regrets having to go play college ball. I don't think it will turn out like Simmons obviously. But this is a kid willing to leave family and friends to go play ball at some fly by night HS that isn't even a HS.
I think these schools that we're all too familiar with now need to be regulated. I haven't studied them much, but they just smell suspicious. They smell like this: "I love hoops so I'm going to start a school that will attract big time talent so i can hang around big time talent. Then maybe big time talent will remember me when he becomes an extremely wealthy 20 year old a year or two later. I'll come up with a clever name, or call it Fawning Over Stars Christian Academy."
@JayHawkFanToo I said he was really good but you can't leave well enough alone and have to tell me he's better than 'very' good.
@bskeet Winner! Thanks, I was in the right era, just wrong player. Calbert Cheaney was really good, would have fit in nicely at KU. Calloway, don't remember too much, obviously!
@JayHawkFanToo Oh shoot, who am I thinking of that came to KU after Indiana? Man, I'm usually pretty good with these names.
@brooksmd Was just playing Mr. Brooks!

Forgot about this one, but it remains one of my favorite games as well. An absolute clinic put on by the 4th seeded Jayhawks against 1 seeded Indiana.

We played Indiana in the 1953 title game as well, getting bested again. Dean Smith is to blame, he was scoreless except for a 1 FT. He was 1-1 on FT's. Not sure how you go 1-1 on FT's in a game because he didn't score any baskets.
Indiana's star in that game Don Schlundt was eligible to play because of the Korean War. So he was a rare 4 year player in those days.

2nd official national championship game which we got beat pretty badly. I don't remember the game, you'll have to ask @brooksmd or one of the other old guys. I did notice we had Ralph Miller, the future legendary coach and Dick Harp, one of only 5 players to have coached in and played in a national championship game.
The very next year, 1941 Wisconsin won the title. Amazing. I read a description of that game how a tough defense and deliberate offense was Wisconsin's calling card that entire season. I guess Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan didn't introduce that to Madison after all!

One of my most satisfying Jayhawk wins. Interestingly, Indiana star Calbert Cheaney would become a Jayhawk which I'm sure most of you know.
@JayHawkFanToo I'm thinking of the two best stat stuffers in recent memory, MJ and Lebron who have, if I'm counting correctly 9 titles between them! By stat stuffers I'm thinking of Pts, RB's and Assists. And I certainly don't watch enough TWolve basketball to know if it's OK if Wiggs isn't filling the stat sheet, but I guess I've always wondered why he doesn't produce more assists and boards.
@Crimsonorblue22 A little bit here and there. But I'm a stats guy and he's not filling the stat sheet.
I'm still waiting for Wiggins to be a stat stuffer. He's not. He scores nicely and has 1 assist and 3 RB typically it seems.
I'm wondering why Gooden didn't catch on with anyone this year. Seems to run with some different team every year, produces nicely, and then gets released. I always assumed that he's maybe not the best teammate, but not sure with him.
@chriz I think Kentucky would blow us away if you looked at pro stats. Towns and Davis to start. Every time I look at Minny's box score to see how Wiggins did Karl Anthony has huge numbers. John Wall, wow, really good. Randle is putting up numbers. I think I saw Kentucky has 23 pros this year, Duke 20, and us 15.
Thanks for chatting. Got to run.
@Crimsonorblue22 I'm hoping someone can hook me up with tickets when they play at Texas. We're going to drive over that day.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh boy, I hope my wife doesn't read that
@Crimsonorblue22 That's good, just speaking for me really, and whomever liked my comment!
These games are better than not playing at all, but goodness these are boring.
@Crimsonorblue22 FOr the rest of us waiting to see what Coleby does!
@tundrahok Year after I graduated, therefore, no 150-95 for me!
@bmensch1 What year was that? 89?
Kentucky 156 Asbury 63. They're NAIA. Don't read much into it.
I bet that 34 wins a lot of horse games with that outside shot of his.
@HawkChamp FT's still crap.
@HawkChamp Better than Tuesday
@dynomitehawk Or a play where Bill Self trips Grayson.
@dynomitehawk He ran out of words
Svi is 4 months younger than JJ
This reminds me of when we beat Marquette in the Final Four. Do you think Tom Crean remembers that massacre?
Iseesvidunk
@BeddieKU23 If we shoot FT's like this you might be right about the not beating Duke thing!
I don't know nothing about nothing, but I dont' think you can tell how we'll do against Duke or Indiana from how we're playing against Emporia St.
Why do these guys wear white tights? Me, I show off my legs.
Well I wasn't being serious about winning by 70!
Frank the Tank does his thing. JNewell is really excited about him this year.
That was a sweet little jumper there Dynomite, I mean JJ
I'm in, well after the little circle stops spinning.
Getting nervous, my ESPN3 hasn't got the little play arrow yet.
Arkansas beat them by 50, we'd beat Arkansas by about 20, so we should win by 70
Rock Chalk Jayhawk
Joel had another big game last night. Made 4-4 threes. 22 points. Against the Cavs.
Thanks for sharing.
My favorite Jayhawks in no particular order after Danny who is my favorite.
Keith, Kirk, Mario, BRush, Collison, and BMac.
I haven't kept up with him too much, but Purdue roomers are flying around here for Les.
@jaybate-1.0 It was a great game 7 but it may be a tie with game 7 between the Twins and the Braves. 5 of the 7 games were 1 run games, 4 won in the final at bat. Game 7 was a scoreless pitchers duel that went extra innings before the Twins won it. A classic, of course it didn't have the drama of long WS droughts ending or anything, but it was a great game 7 filled with tension.
@globaljaybird I'm starting to regret that post of mine a couple of weeks ago!
I wrote this somewhere, but I'm not remembering too many practice games that have gone down in KU lore as all time great games, so you're right @DoubleDD nothing to see here, move along.
@DanR The LSU shirt is just an LSU Dad shirt! I can't pick up another team to cheer for. My life is complicated enough! I did enjoy going and watching Simmons, true, but not sure I'd call me a full blown fan boy!
@DanR Could be an all time epic blunder if they blow this lead. Of course David Ross takes some of the pressure off even as I type!
