Looks like our 2 most recent NCAA titles (1988 and 2008 ) are more recent than the last one IU has ( 2007).
Probably Svi or Jackson. I can see Coach Self putting Davonte or Vick on him to pester him and draw fouls. Remember that Davonte outplayed Buddy Hield who is probably better than OG Anunoby.

One of my most satisfying Jayhawk wins. Interestingly, Indiana star Calbert Cheaney would become a Jayhawk which I'm sure most of you know.

2nd official national championship game which we got beat pretty badly. I don't remember the game, you'll have to ask @brooksmd or one of the other old guys. I did notice we had Ralph Miller, the future legendary coach and Dick Harp, one of only 5 players to have coached in and played in a national championship game.
The very next year, 1941 Wisconsin won the title. Amazing. I read a description of that game how a tough defense and deliberate offense was Wisconsin's calling card that entire season. I guess Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan didn't introduce that to Madison after all!
@wissoxfan83 That box score brings back many memories from that year. Mostly when Adonis Jordan was arriving as the bus was leaving for Stillwater and Roy told the bus driver to keep on going without him. We lost the game that night but a lesson was learned by all involved.

We played Indiana in the 1953 title game as well, getting bested again. Dean Smith is to blame, he was scoreless except for a 1 FT. He was 1-1 on FT's. Not sure how you go 1-1 on FT's in a game because he didn't score any baskets.
Indiana's star in that game Don Schlundt was eligible to play because of the Korean War. So he was a rare 4 year player in those days.

Forgot about this one, but it remains one of my favorite games as well. An absolute clinic put on by the 4th seeded Jayhawks against 1 seeded Indiana.
Calvert Cheaney a Jayhawks? What am I missing here?
@wissoxfan83 Just how old do you think I am? That's even before that old fart @globaljaybird 's time. Probably more inline with @jaybate-1.0 .
@JayHawkFanToo Oh shoot, who am I thinking of that came to KU after Indiana? Man, I'm usually pretty good with these names.

I think you are thinking of Rick Calloway in 1988-90.
Calvert Cheaney was better than very good, he was a 3 time All-American, consensus first team and player of the year in his senior year and one of the best players ever at Indiana. Picked #6 overall, he never achieved the success in the NBA that he had in college.
I really hope we win this game not only for our boys to start the season off right but for personal reasons as well. I drunkely made a dumb bet while tailgating at a Chiefs game with a coworker who just moved here from Indiana. He wants to watch the game together in Lawrence and we bet that whoever's team lost that person had to go streaking.
@HawkInMizery Do you have any hot female co-workers that would take up that bet? If so you're doing something wrong... Lol
@JayHawkFanToo I said he was really good but you can't leave well enough alone and have to tell me he's better than 'very' good.
What is your problem?
First you indicate that he became a Jayhawk which we know was not correct, Then, when I mentioned that he was a 3 year All-American, unanimous on his last year and player of the year in all of college basketball, which are all facts, you get upset because I express my opinion? Can you name one recent player that was 3 times All-American and also POY? He was not just a very good player, he was a superior player anyway you look at it. I thought this forum was about spreading relevant basketball information and expanding the knowledge base and not confining it to one poster's opinion...
@JayHawkFanToo You feel the need to correct everyone. Sure I screwed up thinking he came to KU. I thanked you for that. But saying "he was a really good player" caused you to correct me. Saying he was really good is no different than saying he was a 3 time all american, NPOY, etc. I didn't spread misinformation, I didn't shrink the knowledge base. I didn't confine the discussion to my opinion. I said he was really good! And you had a problem with that.
Whatever.
I have never seen an aerial view of Diamond Head.
I'm 68 years old and did not know that Diamond Head was actually a volcano.
Infamies 75th anniversary 1 month from now.
@wissoxfan83 As my teenage stepson said, "Whoa, cowboy!" A clear misunderstanding (oxymoron?) has occurred here!
Reading the posts, I donβt think the extension about how good Calbert was could possibly be fairly interpreted as a shot at you. I have often seen something someone has written about some player in general terms (like your "very good"), found my interest piqued, and looked it up--and sometimes, as here, found out some amazing or surprising information that had been forgotten.
Had the post been written like this, would you have taken it personally? "Wow! Just looked up Calbert's career and he was more than just pretty good, he was crazy good in college--etc etc etc."
In other words, I see the post by @JayHawkFanToo as simply being a more specific rendition of facts that underlay the general praise in your post. He didn't flame, criticize, or mention anything negative about your post. You reacted as if he said, "Petty good? Try again, dunderhead--the guy was a 3-time AA, etc."
Just my two cents as an unpaid ref. I only am writing all this because, with the beginning of the season here, more people will likely start taking comments personally. If we can avoid it, maybe we can avoid some of the divisiveness of the deleted months.
Looks like they'll be able to sleep on this plane. They had to fly to Atlanta first. Do the networks pay for the airfare and this upgraded seating or does the KU Athletic dept., or booster make this upgrade?
@kjayhawks Delta. When I was looking for flights from Houston to Vegas, just about every Delta flight went to Atlanta first. Didn't quite understand why either since Delta has a major hub in Salt Lake City still as far as I know.
@wrwlumpy youve spun a golden thread again . I didn't realize Cuban was an Indiana grad. Here's the first link I got: pretty funny material on his college years. http://www.businessinsider.com/mark-cuban-indiana-university-cheapest-business-school-2015-4 β
@Texas-Hawk-10 I hate flying only don't it a few times Delta usually is cheaper I too went to ATL first but from came from Charlotte and was going to Wichita
Hawaii is the only state I haven't set foot on... yet.
@kjayhawks I've never seen Delta be the cheapest for me. It's always been either Southwest or United/Continental since Houston is a major hub for United/Continental even after their merger.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I went delta becuase it was cheapest at that time and my brother flys all the time and says its usually cheaper but i bet it depends on several things and changes.

@kjayhawks I guess it depends on where you live because Delta is almost always tge most expensive of the major domestic airlines in Houston. Probably because most Delta flights out of Houston have one or two layovers if you're not flying to a hub.
Most flight prices are heavily dependent on where you fly from. If you fly from a hub, you have a lot more options and much better pricing; it also depends where you are flying to. Because of its location, Kansas City seems to have better pricing than most cities but the price depends where you fly to. If I am flying to the West or East coast, Southwest tends to have the better prices; however, if I am flying to Denver, Frontier and United are by far the lowest...of course you fly on older, smaller planes. Also, if you check bags, you have to pay extra except on Southwest and it can save you up to $50 each way.
I think the athletic department does. For a taller guy (basically anyone over about 6-2) sitting in the regular seats for any length of time is terrible. I used to work with a guy that was 6-4. Not sitting in first class was basically miserable for him on any flight more than a couple hours.
KU is favored by 5-1/2 pts.
Maybe 3? if you look at the picture around the big gun, the player is wearing the booth on his right leg. If you look at the picture of the players walking, there are two with boots, both on the left leg, one appears to be a white individual. It could be a staff member or maybe they had a special on walking boots and it is the new fashion statement. LOL.

@JayHawkFanToo I think one of those pictures may have the negative reversed. If I had to guess (which I am) I'd say Lucas is in both pictures. Who's the white guy though? I don't see Svi, but it's likely a trainer???
This game will give us an early indication of where are experienced guards are so far this year.
They should control this game. No excuses.
Keep a lid on the pace. Whatever pace we need to play at to dominate. It's called "basketball IQ" and that is what we need in this game. Control.
I remember where I was during this early morning game on a Saturday in 1993. Mr. Vaughn hit one of the biggest shots in KU history before Mario"s.
