Unrelated, but hopefully it's nothing. Embiid had a DNP tonight. Team said they were limiting his minutes tonight for some unexplained reason.

Game is shaping up as a classic. And it's already the 4th inning!

CUBS vs TRIBE Game 6 Do or Die • Nov 03, 2016 12:26 AM

@brooksmd Yes, I intentionally added the irony of my dual allegiance in hoops, and you know the FU thing was going on my post in response to you, right?

CUBS vs TRIBE Game 6 Do or Die • Nov 03, 2016 12:24 AM

@DanR No, haven't become an LSU fan, although I've pretended so that I can score some tickets for football games!

Ben Simmons • Nov 02, 2016 08:43 PM

By the way, I read the other day 1 school in the SEC has more donations to it's athletic program than it's academics, yes, LSU. My son does attend the school, so there is that!

Ben Simmons • Nov 02, 2016 08:41 PM

The dude who made the documentary for Showtime is the avid Jayhawk fan who brought the rules of basketball to KU and made the 30 for 30 rules episode that we all loved. I met him an LSU game this past season. He saw my Jayhawk hat and struck up a conversation. We had a great time discussing the Jayhawks. And Ben Simmons. I'm waiting to hear my opinion on Ben in the documentary! !DSCN1119.JPG ↗

Thoughts on the Game? • Nov 02, 2016 06:15 PM

I honestly don't remember a Washburn exhibition when we come away all giddy with excitement about the forthcoming season. I don't put too much stock in them at all as a predictor of success or lack thereof this season.

I was joking on the game thread that JJ might need a Red Shirt thus becoming the first OAD to get a red shirt. But Bill let him sit a while in the first half and think about it, and then when he realized how much better than the opposition he was, he got a spring in his step and made a bunch of really easy baskets. They won't be that easy in two weeks, but at least he knows he can score in a college basketball game.

Udunka was active early on, but he was pretty gassed by games end, a minor concern at this point.

Mason played like Mason, but Graham? Between the KU game on my laptop, the Cubs game on the TV and grading a pile of papers I may have been a little distracted, but I literally don't remember him making one play last night except missing a three. I assume he did something good.

CUBS vs TRIBE Game 6 Do or Die • Nov 02, 2016 12:41 PM

This business of having a second team. Ya'll were rightfully gungho last year for the Royals and now you're acting like you're life long die hard Cub fans. Geez, make up your mind!

Go Jayhawks...(.And Badgers!)

Kansas vs Washburn • Nov 02, 2016 01:34 AM

Kansas vs Washburn • Nov 02, 2016 01:01 AM

Looking more and more likely to be a game 7 tomorrow night.

Kansas vs Washburn • Nov 02, 2016 12:52 AM

I think we should make Jackson the first OAD to wear a redshirt. He's not ready. :)

Kansas vs Washburn • Nov 02, 2016 12:51 AM

@dynomitehawk Same to you! Do you lurk during the offseason or just go entertain some sumo wrestling message board or something?

Kansas vs Washburn • Nov 02, 2016 12:48 AM

We're not gonna win a game this year. What a joke! Dark side has been started early!

The greatest • Nov 01, 2016 11:09 PM

@justanotherfan Don't let those stats get in the way of Jaybates narrative!

The greatest • Nov 01, 2016 03:24 AM

@DoubleDD Wilt came along just late enough in history to have a chance at the NBA. He was a part of a pioneering group of African Americans to play in the sport professionally. That's a factor that needs to be considered. Again, I'm not saying he wasn't the greatest, but you really can't say he was either because he didn't play against todays great players in a more developed game.

The greatest • Oct 31, 2016 11:54 PM

I believe that it's always tough to compare different generations and it's really kind of a moot point. But I don't mean to diminish his amazing career. His numbers were mindblowing, staggering really. I find myself wondering why he didn't win more championships, but obviously it's at least due to his lack of having great teams around him.

AP Poll- KU#3 • Oct 31, 2016 07:38 PM

I saw some headline the other day about a UK kid really throwing one down in practice. That must mean they're really good.

@brooksmd sitting at Ohare right now if that's a clue. Well played on the fu thing!

I was at my nieces wedding today so I haven't had a chance to respond to the insults I've had to endure here and I won't, it was a fun day a a good game and Cub fans are a bunch of dweebs

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS • Oct 30, 2016 03:17 AM

@HawkChamp I also use stream2watch.eu. Once I fight through the pop ups it works well

Draymon Green is nuts, nuts, nuts also

Kansas revenue generation • Oct 28, 2016 03:42 PM

It was a great run in the late 2000's when we had ranked teams in both sports. Made for a crowded sports viewing schedule because of my Badger affiliation too.

Dream big @dylans!! Let's give Nick his next challenge! His ego is so big, he might actually relish an opportunity to turn a school program around. I mean, what's left for this man? He's going to win another championship this season. He needs a new challenge!

just my take • Oct 28, 2016 01:50 PM

@Kcmatt No problem bro!

just my take • Oct 28, 2016 12:16 PM

@Bosthawk I thought the name of the movie was "Dr. Billself and how I learned to stop worrying and love the 3bomb".

Some of you need a little mouth washing out like I got when I was a kid. I'll leave KUBuckets because I personally can't stand that language. And a reminder that the person who set this whole thing up has made this their #1 rule for KUBuckets. Please honor that!

just my take • Oct 27, 2016 08:40 PM

@brooksmd Well, it's gonna happen some day. What if Self bolts for the NBA? We should be able to hire someone competent, right? But UNC said the same thing I'm sure and they missed the dance because Doherty didn't have any coaching chops. BTW, I think KU didn't make the dance in the early 80's. Not positive, I wasn't around KU then.

Just because I think KU needs a good rivalry with KSU again, I wish Underwood had ended up with them. I'm impressed with him, but sometimes mid major success doesn't lead to power five success either.

Update, JoJo • Oct 27, 2016 02:09 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Surprised he made the team. I don't get it. I know all about potential and all that. Something's weird when Cheick makes a team and Perry doesn't.

Update, JoJo • Oct 27, 2016 12:48 PM

@REHawk

Don't forget Simmons in that mix. He's extremely talented.

Regarding the Pelicans, the thing I noticed on that box score was a DNP next to Cheick's name. I'm glad he made the team, and surprised!

Update, JoJo • Oct 27, 2016 01:44 AM

He's one of the most anticipated Jayhawk pros to come along in a long time. I can't wait to see what he does like a lot of us.

just my take • Oct 26, 2016 07:45 PM

My advice is don't fret or worry over who's coming. Since I've been at KU, we've made the dance every year except 89. We always get the players. If we're in the dance anything can happen, especially for a program like ours. I try to shy away from criticizing a kid who is now younger than my own children for choosing to go to college somewhere other than KU. Heck, even if they want to go to Kentucky, then great, happy for the kid! @BeddieKU23 points out there's other reasons for a kid to choose someplace like St. Louis.

And this isn't something we don't talk about often, but, someday this team will not hear its' name called in March. We've been extremely fortunate to have players and coaches without major scandal, injuries, health problems which led to Dukes missing the dance, to bad coaching hires, see UNC, Daugherty, to Kentucky missing because they just recruited kids who didn't have the swag to get them to the dance after winning the NC the year before.

It's gonna happen to KU some year. Sure doesn't look like this year, but we just don't know what lies ahead. We've got to be ready!

We might still have a viable football team if one coach hadn't resorted to these tactics that in another era would have been wink wink acceptable.

NEW BASKETBALL RULES • Oct 26, 2016 03:03 PM

@BeddieKU23 I was thinking the same. We get plenty of favorable calls, especially in AFH. For some reason however it seems, on the national stage, we don't get the benefit. And we really shouldn't get the benefit. Officiating should be evenly administered.

@drgnslayr A little more specifically on that game. The Badgers went up by 10 with about 14 minutes left. K called a TO which K then spent the TO talking to the refs. 13-2 foul count after that. Of course I already knew about the Duke whistle from the FF in 1986 sad face

Junior Svi is 4 months younger than frosh sensation Josh Jackson.

The Big 12 is KU and everyone else in the two major revenue sports.

This years incoming freshmen, unless they were really paying attention at age 5 or 6 have always seen KU win the Big12

The Big 12 has been the No. 1 RPI league in the country each of the last three years, and has had more teams reach the Elite Eight over the last 15 seasons than any other league.

If the World Series goes the full 7 games it will end after KU's first basketball game, and if our team fulfills its' vast potential it will end after MLB begins in early April.

My two favorite sports now overlap which isn't a bad thing at all.

Once again I will feel guilty watching KU games on ESPN3 while people living in Kansas can't watch. I will feel outrage with many of you at the AD for his foolish deal. With the merger of ATT/Time-Warner, will anything change?

Our football team is ranked 2nd to last in the power rankings at CBSports and 3rd to 351st in their basketball rankings.

Norlender thinks Kentucky is better than KU.

Perry Ellis was a freshman at KU during our first Big12 championship year in 2005.

Kentucky has 23 pros on opening day rosters, KU has 15 if what I read is correct. I think it said Duke has 19 or 20.

While I was at KU I watched Danny Manning play a 1 on 1 full court basketball game in Robinson Gym against an overweight football player. I forget who won.

When I was at KU in the mid 80's Phil Forte was a freshman at OSU.
