I disagree with Piper - the defense looks pretty good, except for in transition. The guards are not rebounding is what the problem is.

Hopefully its just early season jitters but man we dont look good, poor rebounding, ball movement, FT shooting and defense.

@kjayhawks ball movement is not too bad, but poor rebounding is the worst.

When we figure out rebounding, I can't wait to see transition. This team is Roy MF'ing Williams fast.

@globaljaybird if you have cable or satellite account, should be able to sign in to ESPN3 in Chrome, but add the ZenMate extension under settings. - I think that gives you a general location of US and you can pick up the video.

My challenge is I want to drop cable/Satellite altogether which wouldn't give me access to any ESPN products.

Small sample size, but I felt a lot better about this season an hour ago.

Svi looks good aswell, Offense really came on good at the end besides FTs. Defense looks like the worst the Self has had and rebounding right up there with it.

Very good points. Defense also feels problematic. Still just the first exhibition but the early schedule does this team no favours as they learn to play together.

I'm interested to see how they come out in the next exhibition now. Admittedly they probably don't care much about this game, especially since it doesn't count but Self will be tearing into them leading up to the next one.

@BShark Not at all. Young guy was born here (there) in the KC metro & coulda played a a lot of other schools... He's willing to pay his dues to play for Self & he's not gonna be anyone's whippin boy by any means. Mitch likes to throw em down too. Maybe not as a frosh, but his time will surely come.

I tell you I dont think I've seen AFH empty so fast looked half empty with 12 minutes left. Don't blame them ether, the team certainly looked like they had better things to do rather than play.

think about this - for as bad as it was, we still scored 92 points while missing roughly fifteen free throws, had nearly twenty five turnovers, gave twenty five transition points and who knows how many offensive rebounds. We should have scored 120+ and won by 40.

It is an exhibition game and Coach Self tried all kinds of lineups and gave plenty of playing time to all players to show what they can do. The veterans played OK and Mason had himself a very nice game. Non-starters that helped themselves the most: Svi, Lightfoot and Vick.

Going to be hell to pay at practice Wednesday! Night all.

Well I'm not an expert, but what I saw tonite was HCBS giving lots of pt, trying different groups and some young kids who are still in the process of learning the system and learning they are no longer the big dog on the court anymore.

I'd say no reason to start Jackson at this point SVI looks better. Let him come off the bench, I dont really see him as OAD first round pick. Selby looked twice as good.

That was his first college game. Once he settled he did well with a few rookie mistakes in between. He seems very comfortable scoring.

Well at least the whistles settled down in the 2nd half huh? One good thing, we can go back to work - - -It was 1st game - -exhibition, that's a good thing, got another exhibition. Hard to get rhythm when the ref's found new toys whistles.. Pretty ragged BUT it was the 1st game. Know Coach can't be happy like he said in post game I think he said 3 rebounds from top 2 bigs BUT yet Frank get's 10. !8 - 34 from the free throw line - - 24 turnovers, we will get better. Coach said Josh had a rough game, on to the next game -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I predicted weeks ago that folks would be calling for Vick to start instead of JJ. I still think JJ needs to start. We need him to get experience now, so he can be one of our leaders in March. Vick and Svi will still get their 20+ minutes every game.

@KUSTEVE agreed. I was impressed with Josh. He wants it and I don't see Self making any changes.

Josh should start all season barring injury or suspension.
