It seems as if in this internet age that the legend of Allen Field House is growing. The Phog regularly shows up at the top (or very near the top of some nearsighted sportslist makers) of the best arenas, best atmosphere, best fans, best tradition, loudest arena, best chant, most loyal fans, you know, all the things you all know we already are.

So as a result, we are attracting the celebs. You all were gaga over some actress a year or two coming to games. Sorry, I don't remember who it was, but apparently some of you thought she made AFH look better.

So I read the other site a couple of days back and see that Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson showed up for the Ichabods game. And it wasn't to see Washburn U. He was there in a New School Yankees hat, apparently some Royals fans, remembering the late 70's playoff losses to NY weren't too pleased about it. One poster on the other site went as far as to say he should have been banned from AFH. But he specifically stated he wanted to attend a game in AFH.

He was there with Dana Stubblefield's daughter, who also made AFH look better. Not sure the relationship there, except the article stated they were friends.

So has AFH become a bucket list type of place? Who else comes to these games we know? I know of course former hoopers from KU come, but what other celebs have stopped by?

It makes me proud of my alma mater that through God's leading I was fortunate enough to spend three magical years at KU.

Last year Barbara Eden was there-she is married to a KU Alum. They showed her on the video board more than once-later they played the theme to "I dream of Jeanie" and she folded her arms and did the genie head bob. The whole place loved it.

I've seen photos of Olivia Wilde there with Jason Sudekis (Overland Park native).

Dana Stubblefield played for the 49ers and Jackson played for Oakland and has been a long time resident of the Bay Area (Carmel), so it is not surprising that as sports celebrities they know each other (and families) well. I will guess the Stubblefiled connection got them good tickets for the game at AFH.

Scott Van Pelt of ESPN has been to several games over the years just as a spectator and always goes to the Wheel before the game.

Aaron Rogers. George Brett. Multiple Chiefs players over the years to name a few.

Rob Riggle (of Hangover fame-the Vegas taser demo cop) is a KU grad and hosted Late Night at the PHOG in 2013-may have done it this year as well.

Father of a celebrity seen at Allen Field House: Few KU fans know that Alfred E. Neuman's advertising/folk art father, Barnett K. Neuman. attended the first game in Allen Field House. Barnett attended KU from about 1930-1945, when he graduated in the bottom ten percent of his class with a BA in Zoology. He supposedly worked on many of the dioramas at the natural history museum on campus and reputedly twice fathered illegitimate children back stage during Rock Chalk Revue with wives of faculty. Here is a picture of Barnett Neuman taken during a summer break sometime during those student years. Barnett worked a summer job for 4 straight summers during one stretch in Longview, TX in order to be near his sweet heart, a KU coed and fellow Zoology major from Longview, TX, Eunice T. Needham '39. This photo of Barnett was on an advertising postcard for a Longview auto parts company that Barnett did some modeling for one summer in exchange for bus fare back to Lawrence. Alas the actual photo of Barnett taken the night of the first game in Allen Field House, which he made a special trip back to Lawrence from his home in Brooklyn, NY, to attend, was lost during the burning of the KU Student Union many years later. (Note: the unaltered version of this postcard is supposedly located in the Boston Pubic Library, where Barnett accidentally left it in a volume entitled "Mosasaurs of Cretaceous Kansas" on a visit to Boston to watch one of his heroes, Ted Williams, play in Fenway Park. As Satchmo sang, "What a wonderful world...)

I'm certain there are other celebs that attend a game now and then and go incognito.

Just like there are KU fans that mask being a Jayhawk in their daily lives.
