Kansas @ Iowa St Gameday game Jan 17th!!
Jan 06, 2015 05:20 PM #1

As if we needed another reason for this road game to be important ESPN has made it the gameday game. Place will be amped even more, over under on 3's State attempts at 30. Hopefully we can make their kids cry again. Self better show that Elijah tape a few times that week.

Kansas handled The four guard line up with a traditional Five man the last two years. I like their chances even better now that their personnel matches up better with Transfer U.

Jan 06, 2015 05:43 PM #3

We do match-up better in terms of we don't have a 7 footer they can drag away from the basket. The problem is none of our front-court is especially good at guarding the perimeter. We will need our absolute best to win there

ISU might be a little overrated this season, The have played one true away game, 4 games in neutral sites and 7 at home. They have played 2 top 25 teams, and they won one against Arkansas at home and lost to Maryland at a neutral site; they also have a bad loss to South Carolina at a neutral site. They are shooting 34% from 3 for the season and went 1-18 from 3 against South Carolina. This is no the same 3-point shooting team of past years.

@VailHawk Hey Vail. Not time yet.

Jan 07, 2015 06:25 AM #20

@brooksmd Me, either! I used to be a morning person but I've become more night owlish the last couple years

Jan 07, 2015 06:28 AM #21

@VailHawk I've always been. Whether I had to get up at 5 AM to get ready for work or not. Although then I tried to hit the sheets by midnight. Now that I'm retired, the only time I have to get up early is Sunday mornings for church.

Jan 07, 2015 06:30 AM #22

@VailHawk not us!!

Jan 07, 2015 06:46 AM #23

@brooksmd did you get all the preseason games?

Jan 07, 2015 06:48 AM #24

@Crimsonorblue22 Yep. Either on tv or ESPN3. Not sure about tomorrow night since it's on ESPNU. Should be able to watch it on the net.

Jan 07, 2015 09:17 AM #25

ISU barely beats Oklahoma State at home. It took two desperation blocks in the last few seconds to hang on for the two point win. Had ISU lost it would have changed the conference dynamics big time since two of the 3 teams (other than KU) expected to contend would have lost at home.

Jan 07, 2015 04:24 PM #26

@JayHawkFanToo

As I'll say again, when KU plays them it will be their holy grail. Take down goliath type game. It's been that way since Hoiberg arrived, the atmosphere for that game will be different than any they will play at home the rest of the season. Add in the fact its the primetime game that night and our Guys will have to put together a complete game to win.

It's just like Kentucky with Ole Miss last night. Teams are going to try and knock them down because of their undefeated record. I'm sure it won't be the last close game they have because of it. It's the beauty of College Ball

Jan 07, 2015 04:35 PM #27

I watched that ISU-OSU game last night and I wasn't impressed with either team. It looked like ISU was trying to gift the game to OSU, but OSU was too polite to accept.

@BeddieKU23

You are right about the game with us being their "holy grail." The place will be packed and amped. Our players will probably face some verbal assaults. It's a tough environment there when they are all psyched up for a game.

There is no reason why we shouldn't kick their butts. We are young, but we have several players on this team that have been there before.

I really thought we'd see some tears by Fred and company last night. Almost happened.

The key for us to win the B12 this year is to get out strong, and then just play hard basketball throughout the year. These pretenders will fade from the screen.

I think a few of these teams could win a couple of games in March. I don't really see any March contenders in this bunch. They are lacking experience But you never know...

We just have to come ready to play every game. If we do that, we will win #11....

Jan 07, 2015 05:11 PM #28

Not that I care too much about such things, but when was the last time gameday came to Lawrence? I guess we're the fodder for other teams game of the year so ESPN goes to their place instead? It's the price of success I guess.

Jan 07, 2015 05:24 PM #29

@wissoxfan83 : 2013 vs Texas we hosted game day.

Jan 07, 2015 05:32 PM #30

@wissoxfan83 let's blame it on SZ!!! Now that ALL KU fans can see games, we gotta keep him on the hook! Welcome back you fans that were screwed!!!

Jan 07, 2015 05:45 PM #31

@Crimsonorblue22 OK, I'm all for it...Someone please explain to me what's wrong when pay all my state & local taxations right here & am penalized to the tune of an additional 200 bucks yearly just to get the half dozen games SZ wants to gouge for? And that IS NOT deductible !!That's appx $100 for the dish & $100 for the full court package, that is, unless the JHN is blacked out on it. I could care friggin less about the effin LHN-they blow anyway.

Jan 07, 2015 05:56 PM #32

@Crimsonorblue22 I think we should leave him out in the cold for about half hour to free up his attitude & mind. Is 7 above now & WC is -20. Am soooooooooooo thankful Rascal holds his water all night. Bet SZ couldn't go 10 min outside even with coat, hat, mittens.

Jan 07, 2015 05:59 PM #33

@globaljaybird oh man, so glad he can hold it! Plus he must have good manners to be in that long!! Rascal, not SZ!

Jan 07, 2015 07:26 PM #34

@wissoxfan83

SZ just does not have the connections. Say what you want about Lew Perkins but he had the connections and if not for him, KU does not go to the Orange Bowl; it was the ultimate power play. Oklahoma, the Big 12, the ACC a and representatives of the Orange and Fiesta Bowl had come up with a deal to have Oklahoma play Virginia Tech. in the Orange Bowl and KU go to the less prestigious Fiesta Bowl and the proposal was submitted to the NCAA BCS committee; however, Lew was able to get the BCS committee to keep KU in the Orange Bowl. That is influence and contacts.

Jan 07, 2015 08:14 PM #35

@JayHawkFanToo
And that was probably the greatest moment for Jayhawk football fans, because as I recall Missouri beat us, so by all rights OU and MU should have been in the BCS games, but too bad so sad Missouri!

Jan 07, 2015 08:19 PM #36

@wissoxfan83

Yeap. That was indeed the brightest t moment for the football program in recent memory...of course he threw it all away by hiring Gill, but it does not diminish all the accomplishments he had. He had gravitas, Zenger...not so much.

Jan 07, 2015 09:04 PM #37

@JayHawkFanToo "SZ just does not have the connections. Say what you want about Lew Perkins but he had the connections and if not for him, KU does not go to the Orange Bowl"

I always though Lew was a ringer for Tessio (Abe Vigoda) in the Godfather. also "Fish" from Barney Miller. Great connection to have on our side. JMO
