Livestock Judging Team

The KSU Livestock Judging Program is rich with tradition and attracts students from all over the United States. The Kansas State program dates back to 1903 and has compiled thirteen national championships, including a record setting five consecutive wins from 1994-1998. Students interested in livestock judging must enroll in ASI 420, Principles of Livestock Selection in the fall semester of their Junior or Senior year. Those students completing the course are eligible to compete on the Livestock Judging Team. KSU attends the National Western Stock Show, Denver, CO; Sioux Empire Show, Sioux Falls, SD; Iowa Beef Expo, Des Moines, IA; Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston, TX; Mid America Classic, Wichita, KS; World Beef Expo, Milwaukee, WI; American Royal, Kansas City, MO; and North American International Livestock Exposition, Louisville, KY. The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, College of Agriculture Competition Team Council, Livestock Meat Industry Foundation, and Joe Lewellen Fund provide the financial support for the program.

Congratulations ???

Does anyone remember the sign they used to have on I-70 that read something like " Kansas State University, Home of the National Livestock Judging Champions ". It used to be a great source of entertainment and conversation for us.

Yes, I had to quit the med's you take. They keep making me ask about agents, agent runners, and summer game coaches channeling talent. Man, what is that stuff you take? :-)

"Them boys knows their cows."

KSU has a department titled, "Department of Animal Husbandry."

I thought that was illegal in most States? Maybe it's allowed in Utah and Manhattan, Kansas?

Jan 30, 2015 07:19 PM #9

@drgnslayr Texas A & M has that. Rick (Gov. Ooops) Perry got a D in the class he took on that if I remember correctly.

P.S. About 30 some tomato seedlings have sprouted this past week with the temps up in the high 70's.

@jaybate-1.Make cluster bombs for deployment & dispersal vs insurgents on foreign battlefields. It will attract swine & we all know how they feel about that. Or maybe we could just send them the KSU cheerleading squad instead !!

Oh my goodness.... My wife is due in 3 weeks and I need to get my seedlings started! What's a feller to do?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't give a thumbs up to the girls in purple. Now TCU's cheerleaders (on the other hand) maintain the Big 12 standard of excellence!

@nuleafjhawk

I thought the sign on K-177 after you exited I-70 headed to Manhattan said...if you can smell it you are near, if you can step on it...you are there.

@globaljaybird

Ramping up to game intensity the night before!!!!

Jan 31, 2015 12:37 AM #17

@drgnslayr sounds like you already did the planting!!!

Jan 31, 2015 01:41 AM #18

@drgnslayr Brooks & I commented about the TCU young ladies on the game chat and I offered that it was fairly obvious why the Frogs had horns !!

Jan 31, 2015 01:58 AM #19

I agree, the TCU cheerleaders win for most likely to marry an oil tycoon.
