Royals in 15-16
Feb 15, 2015 04:58 PM #1

Ok Royals fans, what does everyone think about the management letting our star pitcher Shields go to another team?
Im not sure it was a good idea. Who can replace that guy? Are the Royals doomed to another 30 years of less than mediocrity?

Feb 16, 2015 02:45 PM #2

@Lulufulu

I know you opened it up to Royals fans, but apparently it's not generating a whole lot of discussion! So, as a White Sox fan, I'm ecstatic!

I actually hope it doesn't mean 30 more years of mediocrity for the Royals. It wouldn't bother me at all to see the east coast darlings go through 30 years of mediocrity. One of baseballs weaknesses in the last two decades has been the lack of smaller market teams being able to consistently compete, the Cardinals really being the one exception.

Feb 16, 2015 03:35 PM #3

@Lulufulu Probably not doomed in 2015 as they've re signed their core guys without arbitration for another year & several others for terms. Hosmer is the final one remaining as Holland signed last week. Most of the team is already in AZ ready for Spring training even tho P & C's don't report for a few more days, so they're excited to get back out there. Now, don't ask me if they'll align under the stars for another magical run like last fall. They were about 9 outs from elimination in their 1st playoff game in 29 years & no way anyone thought they'd write victorious history being down 4 runs to John Lester. Shields leadership undoubtedly was the main ingredient for those young guys confidence concoction, but the 10-15 guys that were on the field most every game provided 75% of the results. Shields brought a mindset to the young guys that they just did not have before he arrived. Stepping up is an over used phrase for sure but that's what they have to do again. Hochevar is back from TJ surgery & Duffy should regain some of his early season success with a couple of months rest. They've added a starter to replace Shields & the bullpen is intact, so unless injuries pile up on some key starters, I see no reason why they don't make another good run in their division. Other than Shields their pitching staff looks like it did in the fall, and I emphatically have to say it was only one pitcher shy of being the best in the game last year. The projected production at the DH spot will be a real booger to figure now that Butler has moved on, but Billy did not have a banner season last year. His hitting in the post season was timely & exactly what you want at the DH spot & that is the biggest hole they had to fill IMO. I believe they have the strong, young arms to get the job done again, but getting 9 guys on the same page day in & out for 162 games and keeping their physical health/fatigue factors & injuries under control is the largest variable any team faces. A long grinding season in the hot damn sun everyday can break down even the best teams money can buy. Their payroll is finally a tad over 100 mil for the first time & suffice to say that's not even half of teams like Boston, New York or LA (either one?) I don't believe in ouguiya boards, but no matter what the talent level is the planets seemingly must magically conform for teams to take advantage of their competitors, which is precisely what these guys did last fall. I'm as pumped for baseball as I've been in a damn long while & this cold ass snow out here has me wishing for the aroma of new mowed bluegrass in the dead of a Kansas winter. Unfortunately I'll just be whiffing the funky smoke of the hedge & locust in the fireplace for the next few days going forward.

Feb 16, 2015 03:46 PM #4

@globaljaybird I'm excited too!! It was fun seeing those guys at AFH, Rock stars!!! As this KU bb season winds down😭, and we lose guys we wanted to see more off, it's nice to have something else to look forward to!

Feb 16, 2015 06:34 PM #5

@Lulufulu I heard on talk radio that Calif has the highest state tax in the nation & Shields deal with San Diego will only net him 4 mil more than a 40% lower offer from Detroit. He's from that area I think, but I also think he didn't want to compete against KC in the division. Great competitor & helluva team mate. Wish we could've kept him as the Ace & not placed so much on the plate of Ventura-he's only in his early 20's & would like to see him have another real good year before they start calling him "da man."

Feb 16, 2015 06:35 PM #6

@globaljaybird Right on Global. Thanks for the update. I cannot honestly call myself a Royals fan. I didnt even watch a full game last season. College basketball is my obsession. But I did read about the Royals' successes and was proud of them for doing so well. Im sure it was great for Kansas City too.
I forgot about Billy Butler being gone as well. I hope they can find another guy to be a big shot at DH. Go Royals!

Feb 16, 2015 06:39 PM #7

What exactly is this "baseball" sport you speak of? :)

Feb 16, 2015 06:41 PM #8

@JayHawkFanToo HA!

Feb 16, 2015 06:55 PM #9

@JayHawkFanToo hey you!! We have a nice group on here for royals game day!! Coach Self is a big fan too!! Oh smart one!!!!! Jk

Feb 17, 2015 12:56 AM #10

I don't think KC could've done anything to keep Shields other than cutting salaries 50% to give him more. He went to SD because that's where his off season home is and he'll be with family more.

Feb 17, 2015 06:55 PM #11

I follow the Royals quite a bit.

They should be okay this year. The big thing here is that they have to stay healthy. Guys like Alex Gordon, Salvador Perez, Hosmer, Cain, etc. have to be able to go every night because the Royals don't have enough depth either in the big leagues or in the minors if their top players are banged up.

They are also really leaning on Ventura and Duffy to be big time pitchers this season. A lot of the season rides on some of the less experienced or less established players this season, but I think they will be fine.

Feb 19, 2015 12:32 PM #12

@Lulufulu Team signed Hos yesterday to a 2 year deal. Dayton Moore has not ever had a player go to arbitration as GM of KC.

@globaljaybird 😍

Mar 10, 2015 12:38 PM #14

@Crimsonorblue22 It's just Spring training, but they are 6-0 & opening day is a less than a month away. Also they signed another vet pitcher Chris Young on Sat as a middle reliever that can spot start when needed. He will replace Collins who is out for the season. Also Rios already has about 3-4 HR's. Encouraging...

Mar 10, 2015 02:57 PM #15

@globaljaybird something exciting to look forward to!!! I hope I get to go again!

Mar 10, 2015 06:51 PM #16

@Crimsonorblue22 Infante (2nd base) was to get an MRI last week on his elbow so when I get the update I'll post it. Same pain as last reason-doesn't sound good

Mar 10, 2015 09:19 PM #17

@globaljaybird I thought I heard it was a bone spur, which is good news, better than expected. Just got back from oral surgeon. Sucks! Pain meds, gauze and fluids!

Mar 28, 2015 05:39 PM #18

Heard Terrance Gore was hit by a pitch and has a broken jaw.

Mar 28, 2015 08:20 PM #19

Just noticed this thread, wish I would've seen it a month ago. To start off, I feel the same way about our bullpen as I did last year; cautiously optimistic. Bullpen strength is hard to maintain (as well as team defense) from year to year and I wonder if the unmatched performance from these guys the last couple years can be maintained. Certainly a dip in effectiveness, perhaps a large one, is bound to happen. Is this the year?

Signed a lot of guys with recent injuries that is cause for worry. Medlen could be ready by Julyish and depending on how the rotation is doing, may be placed in either a starting or relieving role. Volquez is another question mark. He's really struggled to throw strikes until last year with the Pirates, but I've read some interesting articles attributing this anomaly to the special framing ability of catcher Russell Martin. I want to believe that this guy just finally started hitting the zone which does happen. I can't argue with the Rios signing because it's a one year contract. His power fell off last year which he's attributed to being injured, but what guarantees he stays healthy this year?

AND THEN THERE"S KENDRYS MORALES. Why? Why? If we want an overweight DH that underperformed in 2014 why didn't we just resign our beloved Billy?? Why???

I don't feel as optimistic about this season as I did last year, but we've kept our core group of guys, the heart of this ball club (minus Shields). Cleveland and Chicago are going to be much improved..maybe..who know's with baseball and that's the beauty of it! It's a long season. The defending AL champion Royals have a legitimate shot at the division this year, yet remain underdogs. I'm fine with that. If my memory serves me right we've been in this position before. Can't wait to see our Boys in Blue!

Mar 28, 2015 08:26 PM #20

@VoyagingJayhawk glad you are here. You might be more of an expert than our group, which is great. We had a lot of fun last year and it gives us another reason to get together. It's always great to see them come to our Jayhawk games. Coach Self really supports the royals too.

Mar 30, 2015 02:55 AM #21

Well, we're a week away. Any of you gents or ladies going to catch a few games at Kauffman this season? I was up in Seattle the last couple years and got to see the boys whenever they made it up to Safeco. Watched Escy hit his first grand slam last May there. Aside from that I didn't get to see a single Royals game at the K...except for game 6 that is! Haha, had to fly home and will never forget Ventura's swagger on the mound that evening or that 7 run second inning. Magical.

@wissoxfan83 how excited are you to see an even better Abreu? That guy is something special and he's just getting started. Can't wait to see Ventura and Samardzija duke it out!

Mar 30, 2015 12:42 PM #22

@VoyagingJayhawk

I'm always excited for the start of Sox baseball although the last two years left me without any optimism. I am stoked for this season, and yes especially to see Abreu again. And we start off the season in KC too!

Apr 10, 2015 04:41 PM #23

162-0?

Seems like they are picking up where they left off. They are playing with confidence now so I think this year will be a little different than last year. They may still end up a wildcard due to a tough central division. But I don't think we will be seeing a one game playoff. I don't think they will surprise anyone this year if they do well in the playoffs.

Apr 12, 2015 01:53 AM #24

Moose!!!!

Apr 12, 2015 03:49 AM #25

Royals, 5-0 WOW!!!

Apr 12, 2015 02:35 PM #26

@Crimsonorblue22 Ventura on the hill at 2:30 central time today. Get out da' broom !!

Apr 12, 2015 10:06 PM #27

@globaljaybird you watching? Wild and crazy game! Ventura taking on trout!

Apr 12, 2015 11:43 PM #28

@Crimsonorblue22 No didn't see it but I see 6-0. I recall Robin Ventura rushing Nolan Ryan when he was a young kid. Old Ryan put a major whoopass on that kid & was one one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in sports.

Apr 13, 2015 12:16 AM #29

@crimsonorblue I saw it! They sure are hot right now. Wins now count the same as they do in September so I hope they keep it going! I do think Ventura might have been the instigator today. He seemed furious that anyone would dare to hit a pitch he threw solid! Gotta love the fire though! Plus he was throwing 99 in the 6th! We need some of that fire on the hawks. I think @drgslayr would like the Royals' attitude right now. Having fun but with a definite edge (or chip as he likes to call it).

Apr 13, 2015 01:49 AM #30

162-0 still in play

Apr 13, 2015 01:53 AM #31

But the Royals haven't played anybody yet :)

Apr 13, 2015 02:02 AM #32

@wissoxfan83 oh yeah, Wissox fan!!!⚾️⚾️⚾️

Apr 13, 2015 02:03 AM #33

@benshawks08 just glad we have salvy to protect us!!

Apr 13, 2015 03:06 PM #34

@Crimsonorblue22 Duffy to the hill today at about 3 CT for the Twins home opener. Tori Hunter returns & Paul Molitor makes his managing debut.

Apr 13, 2015 10:45 PM #35

@Crimsonorblue22 Just scored 6 in the eighth-up 11-3 on the way to 7 & 0 !!

Apr 14, 2015 12:08 AM #36

@globaljaybird just got home, so happy they won!!!

Apr 14, 2015 12:17 AM #37

This years Royals team is just nasty. They play gold glove defense about every spot on the field. The starting pitching has no problem going 6 to 7 innings, and the bull pen OMG is just sic. Also lets not forget this team is hitting for power. Scary Good

Watching this Royals team is almost like a rebirth of my youth when I watched owner K's Royals.

Apr 14, 2015 12:20 AM #38

@DoubleDD they are having so much fun!! I love watching these guys!

Apr 14, 2015 02:26 AM #39

@Crimsonorblue22 Best record in MLB & only undefeated team remaining !!

Apr 14, 2015 04:52 AM #40

Third in homers, second in batting average, fourth in stolen bases. This is a different offensive team this year. Added power plus confidence all around has let to bunches of runs.

Only problem is Detroit is off to a hot start too. They top KC in almost all those categories above. It will be interesting to see how this team handles a losing streak. Because it will happen at some point.

Apr 14, 2015 11:29 AM #41

@benshawks08 I hate to disagree this early in the morning, but I see the Royals going 162 - 0. And undefeated in the playoffs. Until they get swept 4 straight in the World Series.

OH WAIT!! I'm thinking of Kentucky. Bwa-hahahahahahahahhahahaha.......:laughing:

I was watching that game. It sealed the deal for me. Nolan Ryan is still my favorite pitcher.

@dylans Great memories @dylans,,,Most hilarious thing to me was that Ryan was so old for a MLB player (I'm about the same age) & the kid Ventura thought he was going to take him. Rookie got chin music & a trip to the woodshed instead !!

Apr 14, 2015 02:09 PM #44

It was '93 I was going to be a freshman in HS. That fight really left an impression on me. Watching it again is great too. Don't mess with a grizzled veteran, rookie.

Apr 14, 2015 04:56 PM #45

@nuleafjhawk HA!! Suckers. Those Kensucky guys are suckers!

Apr 15, 2015 04:01 AM #46

@globaljaybird Royals now have 10 HR's & 12 hit batsmen in 7 games. Not good. A starter, Alex Rios is now on the DL with hand fracture-out 4-6 weeks. Moose has been hit 3 I think, Gordon twice, Salvy at least once. Look for some counterpunches tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't have to get ugly.

Apr 15, 2015 05:10 AM #47

@globaljaybird keep me posted! Headed to the KU relays! Pray there's no rain there! I don't think we will handle getting hit any longer. I was falling for rios. Orlando is impressing me too. Heard they are calling gore up. Dyson might be out in field now.

Apr 17, 2015 04:16 PM #48

Sorry everyone. I feel like this is my fault! I put out the 162-0 stuff, then backed off talking about how they will handle a losing streak. Perfect jinx. Make a bold statement, then back off. Weak sauce. I apologize.

Apr 17, 2015 05:35 PM #49

What a start! Though it is far too early to draw any conclusions from these nine games. It just isn't a meaningful enough sample size to begin making projections. I purposely try to look at early-season trends with an unhealthy degree of skepticism. It is just so tough to discern what may become a consistent marker of a team and what is essentially a fluke. For example, Salvy's plate discipline is famously non-existent, rarely drawing any walks. But at this point last season he had something like ten walks and the highest OBP in the majors. Over the following two weeks he didn't draw a single walk and barely made contact with any baseball thrown his way. So while I've been thrilled with the fact that our newly-discovered power hitting dating back to last October has seemed to carry over to this season, I am trying to remain skeptical.

Regardless of all of that, these guys are so fun to watch, I've been having a blast watching them as I have the last few years. Though clearly biased, I truly believe they are the most fun team in baseball. They are all a bunch of characters and play with so much joy and passion. Here's to beating Billy and the A's this weekend!

Apr 17, 2015 06:32 PM #50

@benshawks08 no more talk!!!

Apr 17, 2015 06:34 PM #51

@benshawks08 beaning rios messed up the mojo!

Apr 18, 2015 02:58 AM #52

@Crimsonorblue22 Escobar may be the 2nd starter gone after being taken out by Lavene on a double play tonight. KC won the game but they're losing the game of attrition.

Apr 18, 2015 03:02 AM #53

@globaljaybird crap! Didn't see it, working relays, how is he? Sexy esky!

Apr 18, 2015 03:07 AM #54

@Crimsonorblue22 Didn't look very good at all. Could not walk off the field. Guy hit the side of his left knee hard. Announcers called it "dirty" but who can say? Damage report won't be till tomorrow.

Apr 18, 2015 03:10 AM #55

@globaljaybird saw Wayne and Dg out here. Looked like they were having fun. Saw BG's gf, she's so pretty and athletic. Jim Ryan, billy mills, pretty cool! Stigler is a stud!!

Apr 18, 2015 03:17 AM #56

@Crimsonorblue22 Glad for ya girl=have a great time.

Apr 18, 2015 05:33 AM #57

@globaljaybird

The replay appeared to show that the Oakland player went for the injury rather than breaking the double play. The Chanel 5 sports analyst indicated that there will likely be retribution tomorrow...

Apr 18, 2015 02:29 PM #58

@JayHawkFanToo I also thought it looked deliberate that his foot & spikes were clearly aimed at Eskies calf & not the bag. Hal McCrae had a rule created in his name because he was so blatantly conspicuous & aggressive about breaking up the DP with cross body blocks. It's always been part of the game, but an element I've never cared for.

Apr 18, 2015 03:56 PM #59

@Crimsonorblue22 I posted the opposing player by name incorrectly. The villain was Brett Lawrie, not Lavene. Esky is listed day to day as of now.

Apr 18, 2015 03:58 PM #60

@JayHawkFanToo I like that sports reporter Brad Fanning. He reminds me of a smiley Elmer Fudd.

Apr 18, 2015 03:59 PM #61

@globaljaybird saw highlights late. Not pretty! Yost didn't think it was intentional. Day or pm game. Lots of rain in Lawrence, kc too huh?

Apr 18, 2015 04:02 PM #62

@Crimsonorblue22 6:10p start today & 1:10p Sunday. Stay dry if you can!

Apr 18, 2015 04:10 PM #63

@globaljaybird headed home later, thx!

Apr 18, 2015 10:31 PM #64

Apr 19, 2015 03:32 AM #76

@globaljaybird hopefully it's not to bad!!!πŸ™

Apr 19, 2015 03:49 AM #77

@globaljaybird

So, who do the Royals think they are with so many injured players...KU?

Apr 19, 2015 04:20 AM #78

Sox tried to keep Detroit with shouting distance with a 12-3 thumping today. Hopefully we got a nice little run coming up.

Apr 19, 2015 04:35 PM #79

@Crimsonorblue22 Ohhhh yah, there is zero animosity between those two teams. Kinda like how KU and MU were such great pals.

Apr 19, 2015 10:43 PM #80

@Lulufulu Even more bad blood after today too. More beanball, more close games, & more ejections. Ratings will be through the roof for their games going forward. If the weather had been better the whole weekend would have been sold out-Friday night was.

Apr 19, 2015 11:43 PM #81

That was an incredible win today. Danny had a real shaky performance yet somehow, and I still cannot figure it out, only gave up two runs. Much of our offense was gone with either injuries or an off day. Gordo, Salvy, Escy, and Rios. Omar goes out with an apparent groin problem. Our bats were dead. Kazmir was up on the mound dealing. And still we grind it out and get a gutsy win. These guys never think they're out of a baseball game and they're right, they never are.

Apr 20, 2015 01:29 PM #82

@VoyagingJayhawk We'll be really lucky if there aren't some suspensions after this series with Oakland. We can ill afford to lose even one pitcher for a single game. Maybe these kids are having too much fun & appears like they're showing up opponents. Pretty obvious that they're not very well liked in their division. I'm starting to get really concerned that all these injuries while Detroit is starting just as hot as KC will send us on a skid & when you play from behind for long it really becomes an uphill climb. We really need to can the Twin(kies) 3 straight & hit the road strong. From Apr 30 to May 11th we play 7 games with the Tigers & all games till then are division games. It may be early, but the first 6 weeks of this season could determine a lot come next Blue October.

Apr 21, 2015 01:50 PM #83

No suspensions yet announced. These guys are fast out of the gate showing major depth & keeping pace with Detroit. Esky's back but Infante out 3-4 days minimum. Orlando nails yet another triple & Dyson covers Cain in CF. Gibson sails along then the sky falls. Twins may be the only team we're not fighting with (right now), so lets do it again tonight. Vargas gets the start at 7:10 pm. Question ? Anyone know a strong FM station in the metro that carries their games on radio ?

Apr 21, 2015 07:54 PM #84

Herrera suspended 5 games & Ventura fined. OUCH !!

Apr 21, 2015 08:06 PM #85

@globaljaybird

5 games? That is a lot than anyone imagined; I am sure it will be appealed. I did not think Ventura would get a suspension and a fine seems about "politically" correct.

Apr 21, 2015 09:11 PM #86

@globaljaybird Just saw that. Ventura getting a little lighter punishment than I expected and Herrera more so. That hurts more than it typically would with Greg on the DL and an important series coming up at Chicago.

Apr 21, 2015 09:28 PM #87

@VoyagingJayhawk heard he was appealing it. Does that mean he pitches while waiting?

Apr 22, 2015 02:19 AM #88

@Crimsonorblue22 Yes but with 7 of 10 games vs Detroit beginning the 30th, he may get a ruling & miss games vs them when he could just go ahead & serve the suspension while playing Minn & CWS & get it over with Bad deal no matter what. These young guys gotta be smarter & not jeopardize their team so costly a penalty. Some of that has to be on the coaching staff also IMO. We all live & learn every day.

Apr 22, 2015 02:24 AM #89

@globaljaybird I started posting on twinkies site, but I read the other day the story about morales. He's certainly been thru a lot.

Apr 22, 2015 02:25 AM #90

Go Gordon!

Apr 22, 2015 02:34 AM #91

@globaljaybird you should have taken rascal to game!!! How is he? Any mischief?

Apr 22, 2015 04:10 AM #92

@Crimsonorblue22 You shouldn't even have to ask-life's just one huge game (party) for a Boxer !!

Apr 22, 2015 04:11 AM #93

@globaljaybird that's pretty cool!

Apr 26, 2015 04:34 AM #94

@Crimsonorblue22 KC brought up Brandon Finnegan from the minors. Hopefully he & maybe Chris Young can give quality starts when the smoke clears. Herrera will be out for a full week now-OUCH AGAIN !! It's high time the light bulbs go on for KC-other teams are flat out jealous as hell & some are willing to try dirty ball to prove it.

Apr 26, 2015 04:36 AM #95

@globaljaybird Getting two W's tomorrow would be a great start!

Apr 26, 2015 04:39 AM #96

@globaljaybird appealing though, right? What's the schedule tomorrow? Meeting my son part way to take gkids back. Might have to radio it.

Apr 27, 2015 03:01 PM #97

@Crimsonorblue22 Early start tonight in Cleveland...Vargas vs last years AL Cy Young winner Kuber. Maybe we can go 4-5innings without being HBP for a change !!

Apr 28, 2015 01:37 AM #98

@globaljaybird Nope Gordon plunked again !!

Sox O's cancelled by riots. I was really looking forward to watching it too. @MoonwalkMafia we need to find one more Sox fan and we can equal the three Royals fans here and go at it!

Apr 28, 2015 01:55 AM #102

@wissoxfan83 we have vail and voyage

Apr 28, 2015 02:02 AM #103

@wissoxfan83

I've been a huge Royals fan for the last six months or so...

Apr 28, 2015 02:03 AM #104

@VailHawk good enough!

Apr 28, 2015 03:06 AM #105

@VailHawk Hahaha! We'll take it. I guess 29 years of being perennial losers does that to most people.

Apr 28, 2015 03:10 AM #106

@VoyagingJayhawk guess we need to hit the recruiting trail. Sick of that!!!

Apr 28, 2015 03:33 AM #107

@Crimsonorblue22 You know I was back home in March and was in KC quite a bit and it's crazy how much of a transformation it's undergone in terms of Royals support. Kansas City and the state of Kansas is full of exceptional fans. The Jayhawks, the Chiefs, and again the Royals are proof of this. My father helped me keep the faith all these years with the romantic tales of the 70's and 80's and how much Kansas City loved their Boys in Blue and it feels like that spirit has been renewed.

Apr 28, 2015 03:37 AM #108

@VoyagingJayhawk what a ride it was last year!! These guys make bb fun!

Apr 28, 2015 12:28 PM #109

@Crimsonorblue22 Fri night starts 7 of 10 vs Detroit. 4 home & 3 away. Will it be studs or duds? Volquez suspension ends Fri & will start Sat.

Apr 28, 2015 03:21 PM #110

@globaljaybird how did the house showing go? U doing it yourself? Forgot about the 3 legged cat? You r not near my dads age, but my boys r always telling him to write his corny sayings down. They r always trying to remember what he said. U should do the same!

Apr 29, 2015 03:03 AM #126

@Crimsonorblue22 Showing went well. Yes we are doing it ourselves. Is not our 1st rodeo, The saying is "Busy as a 3 legged cat tryin to cover up crap on a frozen pond." Now that's BUSY !! GO ROYALS !!

@globaljaybird I haven't heard that one! Where did u grow up?

Apr 29, 2015 03:09 AM #128

@Crimsonorblue22 That's busy----not busty. Grew up 60 mi so of Lawrence in the stix. in the hay & corn fields. We weren't dirt floor poor but the house 7 people lived in was so small you had to go outside just to change your mind !!

Apr 29, 2015 03:14 AM #129

@globaljaybird enjoy your stories!

@brooksmd Yeah but too low & am being somewhat deliberately slow myself with a counter. Want to make it as profitable as possible. Cat & mouse like,

May 01, 2015 03:28 AM #259

@Crimsonorblue22 YEAH RIGHT !!

May 01, 2015 03:29 AM #260

@globaljaybird Agreed. When we left SC we sold our house on our own and was actually surprised how easy and cheaper it was.

May 02, 2015 12:27 AM #261

Hey Detroit. Remember that game last nite? Welcome to round 2. Moose nice bunt down 3rd base line with 3rd baseman behind 2nd. How's that shift on Moose working out for ya? R's score 3 after 2 outs in first.

May 02, 2015 12:28 AM #262

@brooksmd trying to catch up, great start!!

May 02, 2015 12:59 AM #263

@Crimsonorblue22 4-zip. I can dig it !!

May 02, 2015 01:03 AM #266

@Crimsonorblue22 Well like they said it was a hard throw to handle for the catcher. Hos looked like he let up a little after rounding 3rd. Don't think he expected the throw with the jump he got.

May 02, 2015 01:05 AM #267

@globaljaybird Like to see them taking advantage of the shift.

May 02, 2015 01:12 AM #268

@brooksmd we really need to go to a game!!

May 02, 2015 01:12 AM #269

@brooksmd my son said he played for Princeton and played in AFH. I think he's the one.

May 02, 2015 01:20 AM #272

@Crimsonorblue22 Yep he did. One of his best road games was at AFH where he scored 20 pts. Was a good bb player. Ivy Leage freshman of the year.

May 02, 2015 01:21 AM #273

@brooksmd did he do 2 sports there?

May 02, 2015 01:21 AM #274

@Crimsonorblue22 Yes.

May 02, 2015 01:24 AM #275

That little chat from the coach straightened Young out. Nice finish after he loaded the bases.

May 02, 2015 01:25 AM #276

May 02, 2015 01:39 AM #289

@globaljaybird Did you see the pic?

May 02, 2015 01:39 AM #290

May 02, 2015 01:40 AM #291

Young cookin tiger tonite.

May 02, 2015 01:41 AM #292

@Crimsonorblue22 Don't recall Cuban but have had Jamaican & Puerto Rican. Lotta heat for a mainlander but heat is good in moderation. I will say I prefer pintos boiled & slow simmered in pork or beef broth. Cuban cigars are nice but hard to get in the states. I have a couple in the fridge.

May 02, 2015 01:42 AM #293

@brooksmd Yes

May 02, 2015 01:42 AM #294

@globaljaybird I feel deprived!!

May 02, 2015 01:43 AM #295

I think Mon I'm gonna do some red beans and rice with some spicey cajun sausage. By tradition down here Mon is always red beans and rice.

May 02, 2015 01:45 AM #296

May 02, 2015 01:45 AM #297

May 02, 2015 01:53 AM #306

May 02, 2015 01:54 AM #307

May 02, 2015 01:55 AM #308

May 02, 2015 02:15 AM #329

@brooksmd I thought it was Moose who had the bunt hit in the 1st. Us old folks get confused easily.

May 02, 2015 02:19 AM #330

@brooksmd Damn Herrrera up to 100 mph

May 02, 2015 02:19 AM #331

May 02, 2015 02:24 AM #337

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah. To cover plates of food in microwave.

May 02, 2015 02:25 AM #338

@brooksmd just got an email saying brown picked Cali.

May 02, 2015 02:27 AM #339

@Crimsonorblue22 What? Thought he wanted to go to an adidas school and where he had family. Will probably not hear much about him after the season starts if he did pick Cal. What a waste. And stupid choice.

May 02, 2015 02:29 AM #340

God that was a great pitch & the ump had pig s**t in his eye

May 02, 2015 02:31 AM #341

@globaljaybird Greg Maddox used to get any pitch if the catchers glove didn't move. Didn't matter if it was a foot inside or out.

May 02, 2015 02:31 AM #342

@brooksmd wasn't there another top recruit that went there? Rabb? Or was it UCLA?

May 02, 2015 02:32 AM #343

Yeah!!!!

May 02, 2015 02:32 AM #344

😰

May 02, 2015 02:37 AM #345

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah Rabb went to Cal also. Cal recruiting class consists of 2 5 star, 1 4 star and a 3 star.

May 02, 2015 02:38 AM #346

@brooksmd dang! Pretty good! U like that coach?

May 02, 2015 02:38 AM #347

@brooksmd Whoever wrote the story said Cal will be in a good position to win the PAC whatever.

May 02, 2015 02:40 AM #348

@brooksmd Yep its an accurate report. Heres a link. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/01/five-star-wing-jaylen-brown-commits-to-california/eport. β†—

May 02, 2015 02:40 AM #349

@brooksmd weird year for recruiting, bet it's a pain in the butt! At least he's not going to the other cal!

May 02, 2015 02:41 AM #350

@Crimsonorblue22 Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

4-1 win is good for me !!

May 02, 2015 02:41 AM #351

@brooksmd Not sure who the coach is. Brown didn't even take an official visit to Cal. He did to UCLA.

May 02, 2015 02:42 AM #352

@brooksmd Ill leave the conspiracy theories to jb-Im sure he'll have one...

May 02, 2015 02:44 AM #353

I really want those bobble heads!

May 02, 2015 02:45 AM #354

Why would you waste your time in the PAC 12? By the time you play, if you're on tv the rest of the country is in bed.

May 02, 2015 02:46 AM #355

@brooksmd play Zimmermans unlv team

May 02, 2015 02:48 AM #356

@Crimsonorblue22 Well he really blew some minds in Mich and Kentucky. The really best part of the deal. And that's my last comment on the subject. Now lets finish off these kitties.

May 02, 2015 02:49 AM #357

@brooksmd Is like someone posted on their thread. in the past day or so. A lot of these OAD kids don't shive a git about an NC or the (any) school or much else except themselves. Is just a short stopover before bigger & much more finacially better things.

May 02, 2015 02:49 AM #358

@brooksmd let's go royalsπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

May 02, 2015 03:05 AM #380

So volquez is done?!!!!

May 02, 2015 03:17 AM #381

@Crimsonorblue22 No should only miss one start-same for Ventura. I think

May 02, 2015 03:24 AM #382

@Crimsonorblue22 Once the interview with Perez was over so was the broadcast.

May 02, 2015 03:24 AM #383

Up by 1 1/2 over the Tigers now. Another sellout I think. If you want the Salvy bobble head, you better start lining up NOW!!

May 02, 2015 03:28 AM #384

@brooksmd that's when I saw them

May 02, 2015 03:29 AM #385

@globaljaybird thought Ventura was up to 7.

May 02, 2015 04:17 AM #386

@Crimsonorblue22 Right but would only miss the start on the 4th day & back on the 8th for that.start

May 02, 2015 02:12 PM #387

@Crimsonorblue22 I see you're getting some rain this am.....blame it on the moon.

May 02, 2015 02:22 PM #388

@Crimsonorblue22 Suspension is over for Herrera & Volquez gets the start tonight I believe. Once they drop the appeal it begins immediately. The underlying reason to file an appeal is to serve the time on the schedule that may be more advantageous to you rather than doing it immediately after you're ruled on by the league. Of course the obvious reason is to get it lessened or tossed out, which in these instances was highly unlikely to happen. Cain has a one game susp to serve but Ned likes to give him a day off now & then so one game is not a big problem for a guy that is an every day player. By appealing they somewhat can control who they don't pitch or play against because when they drop it, susp starts immediately. Does all this make sense? I'm getting confused myself now...JK

May 02, 2015 07:05 PM #389

@globaljaybird not much rain!

May 02, 2015 09:07 PM #390

Man, this season has been a blast. I was at the game thursday night sitting right behind the guy that got nailed in the thigh by Moose's foul ball down left field in the 8th. Pretty nice bruise--could see the stitch pattern! Perfect night otherwise--Duffy pitched great, perfect weather, lots of runs, a couple incredible catches in the outfield. Even found the car fairly quickly.

BTW, you guys need to start a new baseball thread. It took me about five minutes to scroll all the way to the bottom. LOL.

May 02, 2015 10:51 PM #391

@DanR I'm so jealous!!! I'm glad u had fun! Brooks is having date night he usually starts the thread. We should do a new one each game or series. We usually just have a few, last pm was food night and globals crazy sayings! We're a fun group though!
