Upset Alert/Predictions

KU is in a scary position. Since the Wildcats will probably not make the tourney, this is their Superbowl. The fans will be going crazy, the players looking for something to hang their hat on, and Weber to save his job. When your incentives for showing up to all the other games is getting better seating for the KU game (The students who have shown up to the most previous games get the best seats for the KU) and when their hyped up T.O. chant is "F*ck KU!" no matter who they are playing, it is easy to see why their whole reason for basketball program existing is to play us.

We have somewhat slumping the past few games. If we aren't ready to jump out early and actually step on the throat, this will be a game that makes the rest of my hair go grey.

With all that being said, I believe we pull it out in an ugly one. 58-55.

@JhawkAlum If winning tonight means Weber saves his job, then maybe we should cheer for KSU and their fans will probably want to cheer for us!

@wissoxfan83

Too Funny. I have to be honest I kind of like seeing the Weber implosion, and hope KSU keeps him around for awhile.

Am home today early because of ice here outside of Austin and just got through making "good luck chocolate chip" cookies and looked outside and saw our Red Tail Hawk sitting on top of our basketball goal in the driveway. Has a nest in the tree in our front yard and has been busy building up his nest for what we hope is another baby hawk.

When I see him, it is always the foreshadowing of a win :-).

86-67 KU.

Weber will keep his job through next year. He will get canned at the end of next season when they finish last in the conference.

Yes, I said last.

Tubby Smith approves this message.

@jaybate-1.0 From scratch = my grandmother's recipe. Delicious.

Wouldn't that be fun some time to hook up and meet everyone in person?

Feb 23, 2015 10:04 PM #12

@RockChalkinTexas

Is this coincidence or an omen? I just went outside to take some deck measurements as I am helping a friend design hers...and as I went out to the deck a huge hawk flies out from the deck rail. I am not sure how big it was but I would estimate a wingspan of well over 3 feet...I don't usually see birds this big in this part of town. Hopefully a good sign.

Feb 23, 2015 10:11 PM #13

@JayHawkFanToo @RockChalkinTexas What if someone gave me the bird on my way to work today? Is that a good or bad sign for our chances??

:Note: I live in MO.

Feb 23, 2015 10:12 PM #14

@Kip_McSmithers ha ha!!!

Feb 23, 2015 10:14 PM #15

@JayHawkFanToo Good omen! My hawk is about that size. He was sitting on the backboard for several minutes and when I got my camera a car drove by and he took off. 2 in one day can't be bad. He and his lady mess with the buzzards. I' ve seen him carrying away my lizards. Thankfully too cold for them to be out now. Seen him get wrens, doves, snakes and an occasional cardinal. The circle of life out here in the country. I'm 45 miles west of Austin.

Feb 23, 2015 10:17 PM #16

@Kip_McSmithers Jealousy I would say, especially if you have a Jayhawk sticker on your car.

Feb 23, 2015 10:18 PM #17

@RockChalkinTexas

Yesterday I hear some tapping on the roof, when I went outside to look, there were several hundred birds on the roof (early migration???) and they all flew away after a while...maybe this is why the hawk showed up today...

Feb 23, 2015 10:19 PM #18

@JayHawkFanToo Cow birds? I had a lot of them in my yard before all of this snow.

Feb 23, 2015 10:22 PM #19

@JayHawkFanToo Did you think of The Birds movie? I've seen the geese migrating north already. Bet they wish they hadn't left so early. The first of March the sandhill cranes fly right over us and is pretty cool hearing them honk as they fly and circle above us. I know spring is just around the corner when I hear and see them.

Feb 23, 2015 10:27 PM #20

@Kip_McSmithers

Sorry, not much of a bird watcher...small black birds???

Feb 23, 2015 10:29 PM #21

@RockChalkinTexas

Yes, it does remind you of the movie. I see the flocks of small black birds often enough so it is not uncommon; however the big hawk certainly was.

Feb 23, 2015 10:44 PM #22

@JayHawkFanToo more than likely that's the bird. Those birds eat all of the bird seed before any of the intended ones can get to our feeders.

Feb 23, 2015 11:00 PM #23

@Kip_McSmithers

HOWLING!!!!

Feb 23, 2015 11:33 PM #24

@RockChalkinTexas My number 1 good luck charm is a Red Tailed hawk. Thanks girl, now I can relax and watch the game. Rock Chalk Red Tail Jayhawk! Don't eat too many of those cookies tonight, We will be going a long way in the tournament and I don't want you to gain a lot of weight with those good luck charms.

Feb 24, 2015 12:20 AM #25

@wrwlumpy I'll eat one for each 3 made! With ice cream for each bucket by Kelly! ;-)

Feb 24, 2015 12:24 AM #26

I was entertained when it was Frank Martin screaming. Bruce screaming is kind of pathetic.

Feb 24, 2015 12:25 AM #27

I predict by the end of the game, our player's ankles will be stained purple from stomping grapes. KU 72 Grapes 61.

Feb 24, 2015 12:26 AM #28

@drgnslayr The best scream of all was Barnes whining like a little girl in the huddle as we stomped them on their home court. How sweet it is!!!

Feb 24, 2015 12:47 AM #29

I don't care enough about Weber to even dislike him. But I feel pity for the guy. He's just kind of pathetic. He's the uncle-n-law guy that you forget to invite over for Thanksgiving.

Feb 24, 2015 12:57 AM #30

Weber is probably a nice guy and all, but his brother was the HS coach of Duke star John Scheyer. (I've told this story so forgive me if you've read it already) This was in the north suburbs of Chicago, Glenbrook North or South, I forget which. Anyways, seems like a slam dunk recruit for Bruce at the U of I, but obviously his own brother couldn't deliver his star to suffer under Bruce Weber.
