This isn't exactly related to what you put there KUSTEVE, but this is interesting what I just read by Pat Forde:

The one factor that the field may have going for it: Kentucky has not played a team that is a top-four tournament seed in 78 days. If the bracket holds (and it rarely does), the Wildcats would have to beat four such teams to win the title.

In that span of time, Kansas (12) has played eight games against top-16 seed competition, as has Iowa State.

The Big 12 benefits from getting five really strong seeds, so it's expected that the Big 12 should send at least 3 or 4 teams to the Sweet 16. Anything else would have to be a disappointment.

I would say that OU and KU both need to be careful. I think Texas probably loses in the first round to a pretty good Butler team and West Virginia had better be wary of a very solid Buffalo team.

@justanotherfan

Having played a tough schedule, all the conference teams know that they cannot take a game off...hopefully the conference will do well; no reason why the Big 12 could not have at least 4 teams in the Sweet 16.

I'd love to see a quarter of the Sweet 16 repping the Big 12. It would finally shut up my boastful Big 10 friends and fat-headed ACC acquaintances.

@KUSTEVE My question is how in the heck did the SUC conference, also known as the SEC get 5 teams in!?!?

Mar 16, 2015 10:28 PM #7

@Lulufulu Hard cash. Inexplicable. The only thing I can come up is they wanted Tucky's unbeaten streak to look more relevant, so they stuck a bunch of tweeners from the Suc conference to make it look better.

@Lulufulu

I've seen LSU and Georgia play this year in person. Neither looked like NCAA teams when they played each other. Arkansas, I haven't seen except when they lost at home to LSU. Mississippi almost beat Kentucky, I guess that's good enough!

In other words, you're right. How did the SEC (SouthEvilConference) get 5 teams in?

Mar 16, 2015 10:37 PM #9

@wissoxfan83 Didn't TCU pound Ole Miss pre-conference?

Mar 16, 2015 10:40 PM #10

@wissoxfan83

SEC - 5 teams out of 14 = 36%

Big 12 - 7 teams out of 10 = 70%

Ergo, the big 12 is twice as good.

Mar 16, 2015 10:44 PM #11

@KUSTEVE Yes, I noticed that when I looked up their schedule. They also lost to Charleston Southern a team dancing in one of the minor tournaments which is where mississippi should be dancing.

Every year I hope for a great showing from the Big 12. Usually I'm very disappointed.
