@RockChalkinTexas nice shout out to coach Self and KU!
Like the confidence from Kelly. I just don't see how he could possibly be a top 7 pick. There are easily 10 guys in front of him that were better players in college and have equally high ceilings. I see him more of a late lottery or just after the lottery.
Cliff is a big question mark. I would not be surprised if he slips out of the fist round. There is very little footage of Cliff doing anything that impressive against college level competition.
Kelly Oubre will definitely be a Lottery pick. Best case #7 worst case #13, most likely case #10.
Alexander will be picked solely based on potential and not on what he showed on the court last season. Best case early 20s, worst case second round, most likely case late first round/early second round.
I think folks forget that Oubre stepped into a spot vacated by Wiggins and almost made us forget about what we lost there. The fact that Oubre performed so well in the same system as Wiggins speaks volumes to me.
If he's not a lottery pick, it's a huge mistake.
Well, as I have claimed all along, Kelly's leaving was a gamble. No question that he will be a first round pick with major upside. But might fall out of the lottery and guaranteed 3-year multimillions which accompany it. Bill Self was patient with him, bringing him along incrementally, adjusting his skills to the college game. So, what does Kelly do? Shows impatience by a hasty departure. Yeah, he delivered lots to the success of the 2014-15 Jayhawks, and can hardly be blamed for end of season team failures. After all, he was a freshman, still learning the college game. Now he is putting himself into position to struggle again in a new and very different setting. He praises Bill Self and the program in glowing terms. Thoughtfully appropriate for a player who hopes to catch on as the glowing catch of an NBA franchise. Nice kid who contributed maybe 20% of the substance of a Travis Releford to KU Hoops. The multi-thousands of dollars KU invested in him reaped very limited return, in my humble opinion.
@REHawk Agreed. Oubre could have stayed an extra year and pretty much guaranteed himself a high lottery pick the season after. Oh well, his loss. But he hasn't earned a penny yet so its his decision.
Anyways, I look at Oubre from a talent perspective as being in between Ben Mac and Wigs. Would have definitely been a top 10 pick with another year but not high enough upside to claim a #1 or 2 pick.
For @Crimsonorblue22 Kelly's Official NBA Draft Video:kissing_heart:
Those workout mix tapes are pretty silly... 5-10 middle aged white dude pretending to play defense. Ripe for a good parody. Or maybe that was a parody.
(Hopefully someone warns Kelly that he gets an extra half step in the NBA and not an extra four.)
@JayHawkFanToo True. Lebron only dribbled twice in the entire playoffs.

Totally agree about his value to us, and his potential.. Hope you're right and that this outweighs any questions GMs have about his weight / shot / maturity.
I'm ready for Kelly to shut his mouth and make sure he proves it on the court. He's gone over the top at this point.
@RockChalkinTexas Did you watch the same video for Wiggins that pops up at the end? He does the same drills as Oubre, just as hard, but doesn't break much of a sweat. The man is a machine!
I did not get that from the video; he seems to have plenty of confidence which is a good thing...
It ain't bragging if you can do it.- Dizzy Dean
@RockChalkinTexas Here's a question for you all. Who would win, one on one, Oubre rookie vs Wiggins rookie, not sophomore Wigs. But Oubre and Wigs right after the draft. Who wins?
Basically same height, length, weight, basically same position.
I say Wigs. Oubre is good and has a much louder personality. But, Wigs can score at will, from anywhere. I would love to see the head to head stats on these guys. It seems to me that Wigs is a better defender too.
@JayHawkFanToo I'm thinking that being picked 15th, you probably shouldn't say you are better than the ones in front of you or throw insults at KD. I love oubre, but knocking other players isn't a good look for him. He can be cocky w/out that.
Where were those comments? I must have missed them...:(
@JayHawkFanToo guessing they weren't on that video. He did say all of that and he was a jewel.
@JayHawkFanToo some of what he was saying is at ku sports. This video on here is ok, nothing like what I heard from him after the draft.
I must be still missing something. This is what I found ↗ about KD, i.e. Kevin Durant and Oubre and it is very positive...

I heard him say that, it wasn't a good look for him. Never saw that side from him before either.
Well, Paul P. departs the Wizards to rejoin his former Celtics coach, now with the Clips. Let's see if Kelly can step right up to walk his talk.
Last I checked, Vegas odds don't list him among top 20 candidates for Rookie of Year. I will cheer for him enthusiastically if he pulls it off and outperforms. I would imagine that TRob, Cole and Xavier could tell him a thing or two about NBA DREAMS vs. REALITY. At the moment, the Rookie Rush is ON.
Good fit for Paul, particularly withe Coach Rivers, knowing what he can do and actively wanting him in San Diego. Interesting that a player that played the majority of his career with one team will likely end up playing the last 3 with 3 different teams...which goes to show that the NBA is first and most of all a business.
On a related note, Love signed a 5 year deal with the Cavaliers, instead of signing a 1 year deal and waiting for thr new cap that will raise the cap considerably. Now, what happens if LeBron decides to jump ship? I don't think he will and if he re-ups with a long term contract, the Cavs will be a better version of Miami with big 3 and the team to beat for the foreseeable future.
On the Heard on ESPN they had a couple of interesting discussions about the Knicks and the Lakers. Apparently players do not want to go to New York and learn the Triangle since that system is no longer used by any other team and it is an anachronism in this day and age. The Knicks re now considered the worst franchise in the NBA and they could not even get Greg Monroe that signed with the Bucks. their top trade so far has been Aflalo...Aflalo? Are you kidding me?
LaMarcus Aldridge not impressed with the Lakers, particularly the analytic they use; I guess players are becoming more savvy about technology. The general opinion seems to be that the Lakers are no longer a prime destination and players like Durant can and do get as much exposure and endorsements from small markets such as OKC.
