▪ Wednesday, July 8: USA vs. Switzerland at Dongkang Gymnasium, 8 p.m. Central (10 a.m. July 9 in South Korea)

▪ July 10-13: Three games TBA in medal and bracket play at Dongkang Gymnasium

@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks! Based on the previous scores, we need to try to hold Chile in the 30s for the game. Seriously... That would be a statement given that Brazil held them to 33.

KU starters: Mason, Selden, Moore, Bragg and Ellis

I guess that's a good sign for Ellis' health.

KUSA leads 15-2 with 4:22 left in First Quarter.

The story so far: KU hitting 3s. Chile can't hit anything, partly due to our size and speed. Transitions going our way for the most part.

KU gets a bit sloppy at the end of 1st quarter -- leads 22-9.

So lonely here :-(

Halftime score: 47-19 good guys

Only in international competition would a KU team do this to another..

KU crushing Chile 80-31 with at the end of the 3rd quarter.

A necessary pounding because of the tie-breaking rules.

Final is 106-41 -- a 65-point trouncing.

KU needed every point of that victory to stay competitive in case of a tie breaker with Brazil and Serbia. Both have been stomping their competition.

It was a good result comparatively. Chile, lost by 45 to Brazil and by 26 points to Serbia.

ROCK CHALK Team USA!

Huge game with Serbia, lets hope the guys can come out and get after it , which I believe they will. The one thing I have liked is the way we have rebounded and controlled the glass, We dominated Brasil, and then just and yes I know, but we destroyed Chile. Good to see Nic break out a bit & frank able to knock down some outside shots, he had said his wrist had been pretty sore. We will probably need everyone in tune against Serbia can't wait We gotta keep things real, as we all know Chile must be pretty bad, been blown out in all their games, but still we won and won huge couldn't be prodder of the guys so far. Question they take the top 2 teams out of each pool so I would think we make the medal rounds right? lets hope we stay on our game, been very beneficial for the team GOOD UCK GYS. @jayballer54 The top three teams are likely Serbia, Brazil and KUSA. We already beat Brazil. Serbia has not played either of us. So we have several chances to get into the medal round. I am assuming we beat everyone else but Serbia.

• We beat Serbia. Result: we finish first.

• Serbia beats us and Brazil. Result: we finish second with one loss vs. Brazil with two losses.

• Serbia beats us and loses to Brazil. Result: three teams with one loss and the tie breaker is used.

I'm not exactly sure what the tie breaker is. I assume it's point differential, which is why the better teams are beating up on the lesser teams. Our first two victories were narrow, which is not good, but we did hand Chile their worst loss. I don't want to do the arithmetic without knowing what the tie breaker really is.

The mentality of the world : let's encourage and require humiliating blow out outcomes, where the concept of sportsmanship is obliterated. In the poker world, they would call that a "tell".

Not ragging on my Jayhawks for rendering unto Caeser what is Caesers. Just wondering about the mindset that came up with the run up the score plan.

It comes with pool or group play. You play round robin in your group and teams are going to have the same won/lost record, so you have to have tie breakers.

We're not used to that in basketball. Look at football (BCS): the top teams run up the score to look good.

What tie breaker would you suggest?

@bskeet It might be on ESPN replay after its over...

@ParisHawk How about head to head record against those you're tied with, and margin of victory in those games with the teams who you are tied with? I do it all the time in fantasy football - works like a charm.

In your scenario of a three way tie, everyone's record against the other would be 1-1. Let's say we had a +7 ( Beat bra by 9, lose to Serbia by 2 ), then we finish first, as Brazil's 9 point loss to KU is too much to offset their 1 point victory over Serbia, leaving them -8. And Serbia gets the 2nd seed, due to their +1 margin ( 2 point victory over the good guys, and 1 point loss to Bra).

All imaginary scenario- we will beat the Serbs, and go into medal play undefeated, so it's a moot point.
